    Mate, I literally just came down out of the Ruahines, got home, cranked my heater, ripped my wet clothes off, poured myself a beer, sat down and then got the notification for your new vid. Talk about perfect timing! What an awesome trip brutha. I'm the same with poles. Anything rocky or anything where you need to climb and grab stuff poles are annoying. Once you hit the flat even stuff that's when the poles come out. I'm pretty sure I've seen vids where they've used that cable way so I think you're right about the high river. Anyways cheers for another banger and bring on the next. Yeah buddy!! 👍🤙

      Thanks Adam. Yeah going in after work opens up a few more opportunities. Especially when I don't have time for a proper 2 day trip.

    Hey mate, what a hike. A few years back I did a mission to Carrington took us about 6 hours in, but we ran out the next day and did it in 4 hours from carrington to the highway! Love your work, keep it up.

    Another great journey, BK. So much to like in this one (as in all of your posts). Your footwear doesn't look as though it could stand up to that rocky terrain, and with the stream crossings creating wet conditions for your feet I imagine they have to dry out quick before any potential blister spots start. Do you lace them really tight? Are they a special construction? I only comment on this because I never went into the mountains back in the day without hefty hiking boots, and always had a pair of neoprene socks for crossings in the hope of heading off foot problems which I experienced only once and never made the same mistake again. You must have a work around! Anyway, never miss any of your posts, top-shelf in all aspects. Thanks for taking the time to create another great adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Cheers.

      Thanks Rick. Yeah I prefer trails runners for 3 season tramping as they are way lighter and dry quickly. The downside to them is they don't last nearly as long as boots but I feel the trade offs are worth it. I don't feel I need the ankle support either.
      I have found using an injinji toe sock liner and a light cushioned sock over that works best for me. I haven't had blisters since hiking TA.
      Cheers

    Love your videos Zeb, thanks for filming the trip to share. Does your sleeping bag have a water repellent outer? Just wondering about the dew when you sleep out in the open, or under your tarp. Cheers.

    • @BackcountryKiwi
      @BackcountryKiwi  Рік тому

      Thanks so much Laura.
      Nah my bag doesn't have a water repellent outer but the down is dry treated so it drys quicker and isn't as affected by water. Getting a bag wet for one night isn't going to do much damage as long as it isn't stored wet.
      Cheers!
