I mean it was more than natural that she felt scared after leaving Disney. I mean, she was the main character of one of the most popular shows ever created by Disney and she portrayed one of the most beloved characters. But, I think that we all knew that she was going to be a huge star when she released Naturally, at that moment, we realized that she would have a brilliant future after leaving Disney, and you know what, we were not wrong. She is and always will be a queen.

Watched the Doc last night and have to say- She is amazing. I did not watch her as I’m older but seeing her through all she has endured and turn it into a mission/priority to help others… she is already doing that! I prayed for her last night and I will continue! Bless her heart!
I’m not a Selena fangirl by any means, but she is great in Only Murders in the Building. It’s a show for adults, so you might enjoy it. Season 1 is truly fantastic in my opinion.

If i only had knew what she was going through that tour. I watched all the performancees but never even imagined that she was having a such hard time. She's literally an inspiration for everyone. She has given so many hit songs in this music industry but people only knew her as Justin's ex. Even the whole documentary was about Selena fighting with herself but our great BILLBOARD'S headlines are all about Justin and Selena.

As someone who’s at one of their all time lows right now, I don’t judge her at all. In fact, I empathize with struggling with your pain for so long to the point where you can’t even put it back any longer. I hope she’s recovered more in recent times ❤

Did she also not like doing wizards of waverly place? She said in one of the scenes for the interview “it felt like moving that wand again” with such disgust
A few things I picked up on in her doc:
1- she seems so much more happy and in her element when she is at home in Texas, in Kenya- just away from her Hollywood lifestyle.
2- not sure if the people she is surrounding herself with are good for her and they def see her like a product. They are living off of her, remember.
3- there was a moment when she was in Kenya and said, “this is what reality is” and her friend was sooooo quick to drag her back into thinking that her Hollywood life is reality, probably because she profits off of her. She was so close to figuring it out and then was sucked back in.
4- you can see how desperately she wants to please people & how much that was ingrained into her as a child star. She sacrifices so much of her life just to uphold the image her “team & friends” are hyping up.
5- I think she would be better off getting away from the machine. The great parts of her came out when she was away from there and the struggles really presented themselves when she was in it.

Uh, something feels very off. There she is, sitting in a room full of people that are close to her, pouring her heart out about how she feels and thinks, teary eyed and pretty emotional - and nobody is comforting her or giving her a warm hug. I can only imagine it must be a very lonely life to be famous … such a dark place. I feel so sorry for her 💔
Tbh you don’t know if she’s done that many times and the people around her are just used to seeing that type of reaction from her over something that she probably brings up a lot, like the Disney image thing. It’s not that they don’t care it’s just that they’ve probably seen her break down about that before and they don’t know what else to say anymore.

And back then people used to bash Miley Cyrus so hard for trying to shed her Disney image and live her life outside of Disney. So I can see why Selena would break down because of this, since the public can't seem to differentiate between these two young women and the characters they played growing up.

there is a difference with Miley's case. since Hannah is a popstar, it meant that Disney owned everything related to Hannah, and Disney really capitalized on that by crediting Hannah as the main artist on the soundtrack albums (which was a brilliant move). Plus where Disney and Miley really made waves was with the Best of Both Worlds Tour, since she performed both as Hannah and Miley, Disney could claim ownership of Miley's image and music, and on that note, she released her first 2 solo studio albums while still busy with Hanna Montana, so Disney naturally had a very tight grip on Miley's image, and fortunately for her, Miley proved resilient
To be realistic nobody was bashing Miley for branching outside of Disney. She was just incredibly tacky and overcompensating for it. I don’t think we can have a blatant disregard for the way she acted, although her trauma was evident.
She's weak and is a drama queen. Makes everything an issue.
disney also owned her name Miley for a while because it was both her nickname and her name in the show, but not her legal name. she legally changed her name to Miley to retain her rights under that name.
I think Selena doesn't need to shake off a Disney image. We can see how strong she is, and how much she has grown!!! I hope that she becomes happy with where she gets to now!!!

I just wish all of the people judging her in the comments would actually take the time to watch her documentary instead of judging this one tiny clip that’s taken out of context. Honestly this documentary made me a new Selena fan. You can tell just how genuinely kind and compassionate she is, I don’t see those types of people a lot. And as someone who struggles so badly with depression and dark thoughts , it was comforting to not feel alone. That’s the real purpose of the documentary, not this shallow headline

Because if I recall correctly, Selena had told her fans on Instagram live that she doesn’t support tearing down other women when she saw all the hate Hailey was getting for being with Justin. Then after Hailey went on that podcast and talked about being bullied, Selena YET AGAIN defended Hailey publicly and even took a picture with her publicly to try and steer her fans towards positivity. I'm not even a big Selena fan but I think she's a beautiful person inside and out, people have this misconception that being rich and famous means having no struggles and use that as a way to dehumanize someone. As someone who is poor, has medical issues and mental health issues I completely understand how being rich, and having resources makes life so much easier in almost every aspect but I garauntee if any of you were rich and famous, you would still have your own set of struggles that would be completely different. Imagine how overwhelming it is to have a carefully curated image that you have to maintain and being associated with one of the biggest TV networks in America as a teenager, and then the pressure of wanting to separate yourself from that and establish your own identity when dealing with public perception. It doesn't come off as ungrateful at all. There are plenty of child stars/teenagers in the entertainment business who struggled with the same thing namely Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears. The way y'all expect famous people to have no struggles is silly, just because she isn't suffering in the same way you are doesn't mean she isn't a human being. Ofcourse she felt like a product, and if any of us were in her situation, it would be overwhelming and the pressure would be tremendous. Why be insensitive because someone's successful and you're not? That doesn't automatically make their life 100% perfect and it wouldn't make yours perfect either. This narrative that she's ungrateful, and chalking it up to her just whining and complaining is ridiculous. Her experience is completely valid.
I definitely don't expect them not to have struggles. I expect them not to sell their struggles for even more money.

I very much feel sorry she has an autoimmune illness and money can't cure that but don't even begin to compare the life of someone who is living in terror 24/7 they may lose their home. Pretty much what happens with most Dinsey stars, regardless of their success people will always remember them as Disney. She has some good songs but IMHO nothing that you can call "memorable" so the Disney effect hits even harder, you do feel bad for her cause she's been through a lot

I only see Selena as a singer not an actor from Disney. But recently, I find her quite remarkable after watching only murders in the building
I actually never watched her disney wizard show. I first saw her in a Hannah Montana episode, and I absolutely hated her there since she was fighting with Hannah Montana. Then I forgot she existed, I only got to know her again through her songs back in 17-18, and I started to love her as a singer after hearing Fetish, Back to you, Lose you to love me, Baila Conmigo, and then only realized oh this was the same girl who appeared in one Hannah Montana episode. I've seen her in a few movies, but for me she was a popstar and now a philanthropist. By the way people talk about the wizard show I feel like I missed a fun part out of my childhood by not knowing it lol. She's doing great now, all the love to her.

But they can to selena thats why selena never gets invited to the grammmys for example (only one time because she was in taylors music video)

Yo I was just about to say. Sorry but I think she's a bit ungrateful. She had this huge platform to be thankful for that propelled her to stardom..and now she is showing disdain for it and then looking for pity. A lot of Kids would have loved to be in her spot on Disney. But here she is making it look like it wasn't her debut. Screams entitlement
Disney seems to have a effect some celebrities. I also read they had to keep this perfect persona even after leaving Disney now that's ridiculous when you are a Adult you Live as you choose and you No longer are under that contract. Be careful signing contracts read them cause you become a prisoner of those contracts. However Selena is genuinely a pure hearted woman and she is doing the best for herself and her fans but it is really about herself this Journey I am very Proud of her Strengths and Courage to have went through this then to relive it to have it be put out in a documentary that she has to talk about in some interviews this just shows strength in struggles and she is Human before Entertainer and I believe a lot of Artists try to tell people just treat them as a Human and not above and other Artists think they are a god and they are not soo yea I'm All for the Humble, Loving, Light Workers in this World 💛🎉 Go Selena You are Phenomenal ❤️

Sigh… I’m so fucking tired of people and news channels especially trying to paint an image of Selena as whiny and a spoilt brat. If you have actually watched the documentary, she got into acting to escape reality at a young age. She eventually lost herself in her work and lost herself too which is really fucking scary. It breaks my heart so much that she has up until 60 to live her life, never have kids because of her lupus meds & what’s sadder is that she tries so goddamn hard to make it out on her own, make her own name but she ALWAYS gets tied down to Disney or to Justin Bieber. It’s not fair to her. Selena does so, so much. She deserves better. I wish people would stop taking bits and pieces and judging her on that. Selena’s one of the best celebrities out there today imo.
