That's exactly how it is, in 2007, when Stalker first came out, I bought a GeForce GTX8800Ultra to play it on maximum graphics, and now I bought RTX4070Ti Super to also play Stalker 2 on maximum graphics :).

It really doesn't look "great". It's technically solid but it's really not that good looking game, the art direction and color pallet compared to original is just not it.

Skybox on the old one has such an artistic value the new ue shader based aproach cannot even come close to a hi-res real life photo lol. I wish they used the old textures for the sky.
Obviously the game from 2024 looks more advanced when it comes to lighting techniques, geometry, textures, object density etc but that's not really to be praised. On the other side, speaking of art direction and color pallet, the original undoubtedly looks way more photorealistic even if it is incomparably worse when it comes to graphical fidelity. Stalker 2 has really ugly looking colors, it doesn't look realistic not stylistic, it's just a bad color pallet.
Bad reflections and bad shadows. Flat textures of the ground and buildings. Ugly bushes and trees. Stalker 1 has better trees. This does not look like a game from 2024.
I think the colorfulness of Stalker 2 is a sign that the nature of the zone is “recovering” in a way. As Stalker 2 takes place 10 years after the first trilogy. Richter mentioned that even Birds are starting to nest in the Slag Heap. Which is known for its toxic wastes and radioactive environment.
@@LANDEN_BERGER So the real Chernobyl exclusion zone is now literally a reserve in the middle of abandoned buildings, because the zone is protected, there are few people, animals are not prevented from living and breeding normally. And the game shows the consequences of the “fictional” second explosion, so to compare what is, with what never was in principle strange
All the nice lighting, ray tracing, godrays kinda ruin the atmosphere in stalker 2. The original had this dark grey/blue hue that just turns the game into this cold, desolate, unforgiving place. That was the atmosphere I fell in love with
Stalker 2 looks so childish imo. Especially the bright blue nights compared to the pitch black nights in the first 3 games (they dodnt show it here). Plus the flashlight doesnt even cast any shadows in stalker 2. Hope modders can fix it in a year or so.
The main difference I notice, don’t know if it depends on difficulty, I’m playing all stalker always on stalker difficulty, but on stalker 2 I notice that is more a walking simulator, what I mean, in stalker og you walk a lot but situation can escalate very quickly, of course there are parts of the game where for story purposes there are stuff going on, but it was more random and alive, in stalker 2 you can walk 15 minutes with nobody trying to kill you or animals fighting eachother…
In the trilogy, the characters were always talking about something and communicating with the main character before he started the dialogue, but in Stalker 2 there is no such thing even in the Ukrainian language
@@TheLuri89 yea i looked at the map again and where dead city and limanks should be like just a little left side of yantar above its shrouded in clouds so its probably gonna come in a dlc
