Tekken 8 on a DS is wild
My only complaint with this is I wish the bottom screen was bigger. Not a deal breaker though.
That's why I prefer the Surface Duo for DS.
same
You have very low standards... Someone should bring out a the bottom half as a stand-alone controller, but made as slim as possible. Decent ARM CPU + GPU would be fine for emulation and give much better battery life - ie. a phone or tablet. As the central screen is thin but the joysticks are fat it could have space to attach a separate tiny portless mini-PC module, with the controller providing USB, HDMI ports...
@@spawncalibur1022 They look great for ds/3ds. I’d like to pick one of those up for sometime soon.
I'd imagine the bottom screen will get larger with future iterations.
There are always improvements to be had.
The only thing preventing me from getting myself one of those is battery life. The dual screen thing is incredible imo. I can't see how someone wouldn't like it.
Battery life isn’t that bad with a portable charger. I have the rog ally which I could play marvels Spider-Man for 90 minutes before it got low and it wasn’t a bother when I was traveling for work because I would stay at a hotel. I’d play everyday after work and it was so fun
@usieljasso5091 it's not so great though if you have no access to a socket.
@@9r33ks yeah, I said I would stay at a hotel. I’d have power right there and honestly I don’t think anyone’s just gonna be playing on a handheld in the park or something
@usieljasso5091 no, but not all planes and not all trains are supplied with charging ports.
The battery life was improved through a software update just recently
The flip DS with its orange and white color scheme sure looks good!
Yeah but it's a shitty 2ds unfortunately
Ignore that person - it's a 2DS XL and it's great! Very nice to play indeed
@@daddykarlmarx6183bro was mad cause he could'nt use the 2ds as a ramp 💀
yea man, screw that guy. last year i copped a japanese animal crossing 2ds LL and put a north american motherboard in it. did it right before the eshop closed too, so bought all the pokémon games and got poke transporter. 🥵🥶🥶 i mean…i haven’t really touched it since last march, but boy is it pretty 🤷🏻♂️😮💨
@@fairyboy444 how much you want for it
My current favorite clam shell device is the Retroid Pocket Flip. I once used it about 6 hours while waiting for auto repairs, and still had 20% battery life remaining. I keep hoping a clam shell, non-windows, dual screen hand held device comes out that is at least as good as my Retroid, but this isn't it. Not to say there's anything wrong with Ayaneo's DS, it just doesn't meet my requirements. Thanks for always showing off all the new tech!
One day it will happen! I’m sure it will. I like the idea of a dual screen handheld pc. Imagine one with steam os? Would love to see this become a reality
This has felt like the longest wait of my life.
Preordered since early January.
Watching this videos help.
Did you receive it yet?
@@Sora-vj8nc Still waiting :( They said early may. I would guess late may the 7840u units will be ready for shipment.
2 months of solid patience xD
@@user-kp5gx6pp2v Yeah man, had mine for nearly 3 weeks. I made a video testing emulators. I absolutely love it. :)
I advise you get a reliable 65w powerbank for laptops, its a power hungry beast.
My favourite emulator is xenia canary as I love the 360 library.
Performance is tight! Yes you can achieve 120fps in games like 2016 Doom.
We need a more affordable ARM-powered version that weighs less.
Yup
I say this a lot but there's just no dual-screen support on ARM and not even a Wii U emulator. It's not a good idea and it's not gonna happen in the foreseeable future
Android doesnt support dual screens
@@AMidgetWalrus Actually Android supports dual screens, exemplified by flagship devices like the Microsoft Surface Duo & Duo 2, LG V50 ThinQ 5G etc, highlighting the capability of ARM CPUs for dual-screen functionality. Moreover, many smartphones, including Samsung Galaxy models and Redmagic phones, seamlessly integrate with external monitors while maintaining simultaneous use of their own displays.
@@seventhblessing.7371 I had trouble getting it to work out of the box with a phone and a small HDMI touch screen. It might totally be possible with the right type of display, with a greater understanding of Android, or by making a custom app(Which is how I believe LG handled it).
Another hurdle would be getting the emulators to play nice with the dual screens. I have a V60, and I tried Citra, and after using a few hacks / tricks I was able to get it to work quite well, but it wasn't perfect out of the box. I'd imagine Drastic would take similar work.
Not saying it's impossible, far from it. But it isn't as easy as just slapping a second screen on and calling it a day.
If it was $300 less I would have jumped on it, but it's too expensive for a device I might use a few hours a month tops.
Just get a steam deck if that’s your price range lol
@@DulioCat The steam deck is not even in the same context - dude is talking about wanting THIS device for less the cost.
$300 for a device you might use a few hours a month sounds expensive enough
I do think they should’ve made a lower spec option for 3ds emulation and under.
@@ReadGameCraftCook 3ds emulation with android make sense since snapdragon are more cheap
Literally the best handheld I’ve seen in a long while!
Hopefully Ayaneo also eventually makes an Ayaneo Slide DS.
+ Bigger or equal sized top & bottom screen, because the controls are to the side of the screens.
+ AyaNeo Slide "Ultra" DS option- 2x10" screens - for big screen lovers, I'd purchase this in a second.
Not sure when the battery 🔋 tech will evolve. Love these handhelds but the use case is extremely limited unless you find a power plug everywhere you go.
Tbh I don't need the second screen for much outside of ds emulation so I'd just turn the screen off any time else( unless I'm plugged in)
Most people play handheld games in short bursts, especially on the go. Also, powerpacks are a thing. And also, unless you're going camping. Power sources are pretty much everywhere now
@@TonyJenn not sure if am travelling for long hours how can I use it without carrying too many stuff with me. Also these devices need fast charging which are not available everywhere
@@hotchoclateguyAgain, power banks are small relatively cheap and double the battery life of these devices.. You don't have to carry a thousand things for longer trips.
Everywhere you go? I mean be honest are you really just gonna be playing on a ds in the park or something?
They could make it a little bit thicker and improve that battery ffs, what the point to have a portable device when it will run out of battery in less than one hour out there 😢.
I love this thing! But as a broke college student I cant afford it. Wish it was under 600
Imagine this being this expensive but people hate the ps5 😂😂😂
@@SWOTHDRA Ps5 ain't got no games bruh
@@SWOTHDRA ps5 barely has games you can do alot more on the ayaneo flip ds
Battery life makes the whole idea pointless unfortunately.
For the battery and size is fine.
If they make something with a bigger battery then the comment will be :
The weight and size makes the whole idea pointless unfortunately
In short : it is always pointless for someone targeting higher than what current technology can do 😂
If you want good battery life then run it at 10 watts and 1x resolution. Great battery life. Or you can plug it in if you are home.
The battery life is fine if you aren’t pushing it to the max. If you’re running emulators Wii U and lower you will have more battery life than shown
I'd like to make the battery smaller and lighter. I'll be using it to charge it anyway.
Bottom screen is way smaller than New 3DS XL and 2DS XL and it's heavy and thick with worse battery
So original hardware is still better for 3DS
The original 3DS second screen is 3 inches. The New 3DS devices all stretch the resolution based on that original specification. This device's second screen is 3.5 inches, putting it closer to the actual dimensions the games are designed for than the new 3ds models.
Nope. Bottom screen is bigger. It is just dwarfed by the main screen.
@@ThePhilosogamer Nobody has original 3ds anyway, except collectors
Most people have new 3ds xl or 2ds xl
@@Nickbaldeagle02you need glasses dude, just check thumbnail it's obviously way smaller than 2DS XL even smaller than DS XL
Ok, I'm flipping out here 😂🤣
Yeah it could be a lot better, but that sweet sweet second screen makes things a lot more desirable, specially as a Nintendo fan
FINALLY! A convenient way to play DS & 3DS games on the go.
I love this. Its beefy enough that my gorilla hands might actually be comfortable using it
The Batterielife could be better but I love this Idea with the DS Design and that little Second Screen
Honestly, if they made an arm version with the 845 that could dual boot windows and android like the ayn odin: it might have been hype. Most android devices can run windows applications because of recent strides with box_86. I believe it was winulator that packages termux_x11, box_86 and proton together like a spiritual successor to exagear desktops.
Besides, setting up zink in termux under a prooted distro isn't too hard to setup manually. I think a dimensity 900 would be a solid option of older and indie windows game packaged up from a gog installed executable.
Seeing you use the Analog Stick for Platformers doesn't make me too confidant in the D-Pad. SMH
I'm not a fan of paying a lot of money for a power house device just for DS/3DS/Wiiu emulation.
You don't just have to play DS/3DS/WiiU.
You can play Atari 2600 too.
For 3ds emulation, click second screen + alt + e + F11 (Full screen)
Correction: the section at 4:12 is marked as "DS emulation", but Citra is a 3DS emulator.
dual screen emulation, it can be nds or 3ds
DS is just an abbreviation of dual screen. So whether it's 3DS, 4DS OR 1DS, it's all DS.
Tekken 8 runs like that due to shader compilation or stuttering of some sorts becaus it does the exact smae flancuations on RTX 4070. Something is wrong with the games 60fps lock apparently. A limiter outside of the game will omprove this and locking to 59fps make this perfectly frame paced.
I’ll be able to buy it someday. 🤞🏾
I kind of feel like this has failed at the one task that gives it reason to exist as a first place: Be a better 3DS
why
How so? It's exactly a better 3DS ... without the 3D of course
@@MrDrewseph Chunkier, less pocketable, less battery life, weird screen proportions, weird button placement, strange choice of indented controls, instead of simply indenting the screen, and as you say, no 3d. It just doesn't seem to do a better job at being a 3ds than a real 3ds does, at least not enough to tempt me to swap.
@@rorychivers8769 its never meant to be a better 3DS, its more as a PC handheld with clamshell design since it has too many features that normal 3DS doesnt offer. Being chunky and less battery life makes sense when its like 300x faster than 3DS in terms of performance i actually expect it to be more chunky when Ayaneo Flip DS is faster than Steam Deck but Steam Deck has like twice the size of Ayaneo (for references Ayaneo can run Spiderman 2018 at 60 FPS while running UA-cam on second screen)
@@jehezz But is the lower screen more or less the same size as the upper screen?
That's really the one thing they could have made more of an effort to not get wrong, considering Nintendo perfected the format in the 1980's, AYANEO really shouldn't be congratulated for ruining a straightforward format that was already perfect from the very beginning
What they have created is something that is reminiscent of an IBM Thinkpad circa 199X, but the touchpad has somehow turned into a display of sorts.
Never mind the fact that pointing devices only existed to begin with, because the technology of the time did not allow for you to simply use your god given digits to point directly at the screen.
Happy Easter by the way, hope you got some nice Easter Eggs.
Obviously, no one needs a second screen! I'm only getting it because I want it and I'm ready to say FU Nintendo! I'm so done with nintendo, I'm going to play all my games on PC even my favorite Nintendo games on PC like Xenoblade Chronicles X! Oh man! I'd love to see Xenoblade Chronicles X run on this device. But yeah, I'm done defending nintendo. I'm PC all the way. I have a Steam Deck and a regular gaming PC but still, I'd like to have this as an emulation companion device.
I too am on the same train as you away from Nintendo. Owning a steam deck and gaming PC. It's literally the best gaming setup. I also feel like I need a smaller companion device for lower end emulation, which is why I have my eye on smaller devices like the Retroid Pocket 4 or Miyoo Mini Plus. But to be honest, as much as I love emulation, I now own so many games on steam that I'm too occupied with them now and don't have the time to emulate games that I already played before. So buying another device would end up sitting there unused. The steam deck does handle lower end emulation amazingly and looks great, but it is a bit too big just to run GBC or SNES, etc.
In my setup, I have my PC for high end games, and my steam deck for low to mid games which is a vast majority of my library. I get amazing battery life on the steam deck OLED with these games.
Despite what I said, I do have emulation of all sorts setup on my steam deck and also on my PC.
Can I use the second screen for touch keyboard
Is it possible to test Desktop Dell Optiplex Micro Plus MFF i7-13700T 16GB 512, with egpu adapter?
Been waiting for a dual-screen emulation handheld for years! Gonna wait for the price to drop but I'll keep playing my DS/3DS until then
I really wish these little gaming PCs would start including a way to bypass the battery and run directly off the charger so I can just plug it into an outlet and not have to worry about the battery at all.
AFAIK, they literally all have that feature. My Air pro from over a year ago does that.
what issue do you have with how they currently operate when plugged in?
You can. It's called the charger cable.
@@Nickbaldeagle02 The charger cable charges the battery. I asked specifically of powering the unit without needing to charge the battery.
@@iReturnV1deotapesit charges the battery and powers the device whilst switched on. Try it. I do it with my Steam Deck.
A portable WiiU? SOLD!
A while ago I was thinking if there could be a way to power up the 3DS, maybe change the processor or augment certain components. So when there was an opportunity to get this device I didn't think twice, I got one 'Milky White" in the preorders.
At the time of tekken 5/6 i played Tekken tournaments and used the psp version to train while i wasn't at home.
Now i could play the actual home version. Maybe not this one because of how thick it is, but is still a good time to be a gamer.
Hey guys not to shoot myself in the foot on the used market, but consider the Samsung flip/fold devices. These guys have more than enough power and screen space to do DS emulation. Also, you can turn non clamshell tablets and phones in portrait into ds emulators with more than enough screen space given you use external controllers.
See, I love 3DS games but Citra compatibility is not 100%. But as it improves you've got a 3DS+ with the added advantage of AAA PC games.
Do you are going to do a review about the ayaneo next lite? thanks for everything you do for the gaming community.
Do you intend to review the Gameforce ACE, which has just been released? I believe it will be the real competitor to the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, because it is the only one that has similar performance in the same price range.
Is so cool, would like to see a version with amd next laptop APUs (not the 8000 but the 9000 since this will bring the biggest performance per watt improvements for a device this size!).
It will be available chances are in Q4.
This thing is as powerful as my DESKTOP PC, wtf.
I'm Running an 8600K (stock clock) Nvidia 1060 6GB (Slightly overclocked), 16GB RAM, for reference
I still have, play and love my first-ever-own gaming console Nintendo DS and after Nintendo 3DS bought Nintendo 2D XL black and blue colored version so these are my reasons why I've been interested and excited for AyaNeo Flip DS for a long time since it's relase, as an owner of Nintendo DS, 3DS and 2DS XL I really like that design of AyaNeo Flip Ds, it looks just like Nintendo 3DS/2DS XL but it's a pc version with more power as AMD RYZEN and I love it. There is just 2 problems what are these: AyaNeo is a chinese handheld, it's not a best way to buy technology from China to Finland and other problem is because it cost $ not €. Is AyaNeo Flip DS getting Global and come to Europe? I hope it will because I want to buy and play AyaNeo Flip DS what's like an evolved version of Nintendo 3DS. 😊😮
I'm getting really tired of selling and buying the next handheld but the fact I cannot find a xg 6850 means I think I'm going to 1 last time and go full circle back to the ds.
Bad battery life, 120hz screen, tiny bottom screen, Windows, recessed buttons (which the actual DS and 3DS could get around just fine), and a ridiculous price
If you are going to play DS games yes but its a powerful handheld PC that plays Cyberpunk and Spider-man.
@@moonlambo5229There are other powerful handhelds that play Cyberpunk and can get many times the battery life than this thing does and is also cheaper
Nentendo's gonna REEEEEE
Massive power draw and low battery life make it dead in the water.
I was so excited for this device, but that battery tho…
ok but how is the gameplay with an stylus?
I don't know why, but every time I see that thing, it makes want to video record with it while looking at the lower screen lol
Do yourself a favor and watch RetroGameCorps review much more thorough and unbiased. ETA is a good channel to see stuff first but he is way too nice about products to have them keep sending him more devices.
Yeah RetroGameCorps video is unbiased and doesn't gloss over the horrible battery life like Eta Prime does in this video. He actually does a good breakdown on the battery so you have a good idea of what you're getting
I sort of feel like it'd be a better investment to get a Z Fold and a Gamesir X2 Type C (NON PRO!!!)
Why non-pro? Because the non-pro has the USB-C on the left side of the Gamesir. This is much more appealing as this location has the Z Fold open upward instead of hanging down as you'd get with an X2 Pro or any other device that has the phone plug into the right side of the pad.
That'd be my route as a consumer. I'd still get a clamshell form factor with that "sleek" DS/3DS feel. The other luxuries of having FAQs or UA-cam on the bottom or top don't justify the high cost and seems too niche of an aspect to set aside the FLIP from competitors.
Super cool device and concept, though!
When it comes to these videos id love a recommendation on which one to purchase, if its worth getting 32gb ram version or not, as the price is significant enough to make me wonder if its all that much better, id pick this up tomorrow if i knew the £500 version really wasnt far off but im extremely unsure
The 32 gbs of ram wpuld help immensely for doing multiple apps at same time but just gaming not much different
The Steam Deck is your best bet. I play everything on it.
Nah that battery life makes this a big no for me. What’s the point if the battery life is so short? You will need a plug constantly on you.
I would love one but the price is ridiculous...
Not just the price but the battery life is atrocious. Another channel they could only get 2 hours of battery life playing Celeste. That's abysmal especially for the price.
I'll stick with my New 2DS XL for now!
But this DS can run GTA5
Appreciate the video, especially the size comparisons since it’s smaller than I envisioned.
I’m curious how much battery life could be eeked out with settings and minimum for 3ds game emulation. Refresh rate, tdp, display resolution, fps etc. I tend to play my games with lower settings if I’m not going to be plugged in not maxed.
Awesome handheld,… but the battery is a joke? 😅😅
As a gaming platform, this definitely looks exciting! I am curious what you think with regards to it being a PC. What I mean to say isn't first impression was that as a handheld PC, it would be more portable and easier to carry than a laptop, but would you be able to do any work with it? I know some people in the tech sphere use "cyber decks", to do various tasks, and I was wondering if the Flip would fall into that type of device. How easy, or practical, is this device to use as a daily driver, and workhorse with gaming as a bonus? I really love the clamshell design. I am just trying to assuage some doubts that this is more of a toy. That would, in my mind, completely invalidate the whole point of it being a Windows OS device.
The smaller display is to small and too far away from the top screen but the idea is great maybe the next model will fix that ?
Can the second screen be made to take keyboard inputs?
Yes, but you need to pay for the software
That screen would make the most high resolution VMU screen for Dreamcast emulation 😅
Not that half bad... But I hope AYA NEO dudes make an ARM version powered by a Snapdragon 8+G1 SoC.
Snap 8 gen 3 would make more Sense nowadays
how is there no way around the sunken buttons? nintendo been doing that flip style for decades and never had this issue, i think it was more of a design decision than a "problem"
Just waiting for a second screen attachment for the deck.
🤡🤡🤡
Now we're getting somewhere...
Glad to see DOA
So now that Citra is dead, does that make most of the second screen usefulness mute?
I love how you glossed over the horrible battery life.
Still prioritizing performance over battery life... Why do they think we want a mobile device???
Plug it in instead.
How low can the wattage be when emulating 3DS games? If 15 watts means I only get an hour and ten minutes, it doesn't really feel worth it to me.
What saves this device immensely is the Oculink.
not really, retrogamecorps tested it out and had a ton of problems
@@amirpourghoureiyan1637 Remember that retro reviewed a test unit, most problems can be solved in the final product or with a subsequent software update, but I won't count on that knowing that aya neo software updates tends to be scarce.
Don’t like the misleading thumbnail… You can’t play BOTH or TOTK with two screens on this device
I very like this cool machine. 🤩
But does it run LINUX?
I'm finnish and glad you like LINUX. 😊
dang, my dream device
I would preffer it if it had the joycons either Both on top or both on bottom
Also i wouldn't mind it thicker, if it had a bigger battery
Altho if a Power Bank works for it, I'm good on that
Damn. I love this but the battery life is a big problem for me. Since i travel very long and far.
I hope you’re gonna do a longer video covering DS and 3DS. Isn’t that the whole point here?
As I've heard, Wii u games are the most benefited from this device, as you have both screens close together making them more comfortable to play, 3DS is good but not better than the real deal unless you want to upscale textures, and DS is the worst because unlike cemu or citra, it's annoying to setup the screens as no windows DS emulator was made with multiple screen play in mind.
Not really. He's demonstrated 3DS. It's done. If you want more buy one and D. I. Y.
These tech companies need to start investing on better batteries.
It's good, I'd buy it. But I much prefer the Steam Deck tho.
Is it possible to shut off the bottom screen to save battery life?
how good does it play with the GDP1?
As usual. Too expensive and battery life is dog water
instead of watching a movie while gaming. that second screen would be good for me to watch a video of the game im playing. i mostly play fighting, platformers and racing games. i get lost in open world gms with NO clue where to go.
Bottom screen too small, and top screen could be a half inch bigger, but having 2 monitors on handhelds might be the thing of the future, that screen is ideally the new digital keyboard between the GAMING inputs!
Now how well does it handle Darktide at 800p on a mix of high and medium?
I NEED THIS
Flipping sweet
I like thick devices, but i dont like square devices(thin and sqaure are my cramptonite)
Hey ETA, love your videos! I know this might be a stretch, but can you test using any of these 7840u or 8840u devices running steamvr games? I'm curious what we could setup for a travel vr setup (working with a quest 3 via steam link, VR desktop, or directly cabled).
No where near enough gpu power youd need a handheld with a laptop full fledged gpu or external gpu. As far as im aware all of these things run on igpus which are way stronger then ever but not there yet
There's nothing to test, it won't run VR near playable at all without an external gpu
Pretty cool and I’m glad to see the innovation, but it’s not there for me yet with this iteration.
Who else jumped straight to yuzu emulator and battery section? 😂
Does it run a Linux desktop?
I know "SteamOS" likes would not be a good fit, as gamescope, the software that controls Game Mode can only display to one screen.
I would expect it not to be a good fit, but I am curious.
I wanted to see original NDS games and Wii U games with DS screen T_T
I would get this if I didn't have an ally. I loved my 3ds.
You should save for one
I have a steam deck and i want one of these to replace my broken 3ds
can u add a list of triple aaa game that it can run and also what it can't run because u test some of them but do not say nothing for some of the title that some of us wanna see
Citra is closed.
This console is at the moment a peace of technique.
I need a working Emulator für Wii-U, DS, 3DS and all other.
When this all is include, i buy this very fast.
Citra is available, just google citra emulator and the new site is right at the top
What I'm really hoping is for a DS emulation handheld in the $200 range. A chip powerful enough to emulate the 3DS library wouldn't be that expensive. It would NOT run Windows. I would prefer Linux but Andriod would be acceptable. Right now a dated and worn 2ds XL is a up to $400 lottery, maybe with a charger. There is a library of over 5,000 games, I guess "retro" but that word can hurt my feelings sometimes lol. They can only really be appreciated on a dual screen device and options, including this one are ridiculous right now. There is such an obvious gap in the market here, I know it's just a matter of time, because Nintendo is not going to do it.
How they get 64GB ram in here Apple can only do like 8GB
Would you consider this to be a pocketable device?
