Along the way, I show you the best shops, restaurants, and the famous Tony's Bar. You’ll be surprised at how much has changed in this vibrant area! Crossing the shoreline, we’re greeted with stunning views of Valletta's coastline-views to die for! And a slight wrong turn takes us to a dead end, but it turns into a bonus as I show you my favorite hidden spot in Sliema with the most wonderful view. Don't miss it!

The tall hotel is the Fortina. Spent a few holidays there before they knocked it down and rebuilt. Fantastic holidays, fantastic place. In my top three ever holiday spots. Now 89 and knackered but haven't ruled out going again !

When we came on holiday in the 90s , we stayed in slice a, loved it ,but I don’t
recognise it now, we stayed at the Diplomat hotel, they were so friendly,

Hey , loved that walk , so much there , have enjoyed plenty of the bars and restaurants before , great atmosphere at night . Beautiful view at the end ,shame you didn’t feel like going down , but yes Englishman did it again 😂

The Magic Kiosk in St. Anne's Square was a great little place. Spent many a happy hour there in the 80s and 90s, in good company or alone. I don't know why it had to go. Thank you, Steve. I also remember Tigne Point when the British barracks were still standing, though abandoned. You could see the sky then, without having to crink your head back 90°. Those high-rise steel glass and concrete buildings are an eyesore too far. The best place to be is in them. You can't see them from there. Thank God the construction thugs can't build on the sea. Best direction to look in in Sliema these days.
Can't build on the sea ..Never say Never in Malta, they were thinking of reclaiming land with all the construction waste...lol Malta might grow in the future lol 😂

Hi STEVE....What a super autumn stroll....my word how things have changed since the Fortuna days...always remember my ghastly No1 mother in law thinking how wonderful the Residents club in the area of Tigne used to be, but she was an appealing snob !!

That’s a long walk you took us on, you certainly get yer steps in, you passed Mc/D when you were talking about sour puss back there& you are right you won’t go in if they not friendly,the weather is holding out so nice for late comers having last min holiday.

I'm in Malta Steve, i have been here since Wednesday staying close to Bugibba Square. The Maltese people in general are pretty friendly. I will be in Silema tomorrow to catch a ferry to 3 cities.

Best bit was boat over to Valetta loved it, but only 5 mins😂, harbour tour is better and boat to Gozo with tour bus on other side is good value
Yes I really enjoy the harbour tour very relaxing did you ever go on the fast ferry, I have to try it out again

Yes we stayed there before pandemic, before alterations, it was good dine around was a rip off so aye in main restaurant and I found it great. I bet we couldn't afford it now 😮

I swim 45-60 mins a day 6 times a week Steve. Breaststroke. Have done it for the last 3 years and makes so much difference. You should definitely get back into it. But your very active anyway with your walking.

McDonald's was before burger king, you walked right through the McDonald's outdoor seating area in this video during part of your commenting about sour faces. McDonald's is in between two different Italian restaurants, and it shows that in the video well.
Well technically, during the time of year that there are the least tourists, about 60% empty for the hotels sounds about right , yet how many months is that, 2 or 3? I have mixed feelings about the development in Malta, because sometimes the government in Malta is too development friendly, sometimes even ignoring their own laws to give special favors. Oh and I will never forget, it was either in Sliema, or St Julians. They gave permission to build a building, that collapsed as it was being built, how could the government been following proper safety procedures if that could happen, they did not even finish building it yet, and it was starting to look like a slinky toy, well that is what it looked like to me, LOL.
Welcome to your views Alan, never heard of anything collapsing only some old houses next to developments which the contractors and architects back with server penalty's, there is a law to build deeper then many old houses arout the development so underpinning becomes difficult especially if the build was build in the time when plans were not made good, safety procedures are very strict now,
When I lived in sliema 74 75 Tigne barracks was still occupied as residential accommodation believe to Maltese residents...Just up from where you where walking at the back of high rise buildings you will still see military buildings which were once a hotel Still empty but u know Malta as I do take care

How Sliema Strand has changed. I don`t like the way the cafes etc. have taken over the pavements. Not nice at all for pedestrians. Tony`s bar was always known as Big Tony`s and the little bar on the corner was Little Tony`s. We always went to Little Tony`s when we lived in Sliema in the mid 60`s, and then whenever we went on holiday.
Since the ciggies got bannned the resturants have spread outside, and there's trouble brewing in Valletta ...But hey this is Malta !! Dont hold your breath unless its election year ...lol 😂
