Surely pace comes into it too? If you're too slow raising, it's much more difficult to keep the heavier bells together I would have thought.

Can someone tell me why is it so dangerous when a bell is in the up position?? What can or could happen to someone who pulls the rope as a dare or is inexperienced??

If the stay breaks, which is possible if the bell rope is pulled too hard, and you don't let go, then hitting your head on the ceiling of the ringing chamber will happen with the predictable consequence of death due to serious head injuries.

I can see you had a reply, but I can't read it, so I may be repeating what you have already been told.
Basically, the bell will start to ring causing the rope to rapidly start to move up and down and, if not handled properly will be dangerously flying around. If someone holds the rope incorrectly whilst doing this the rope could cause rope-burn or even rip some skin off their hands.
If the rope gets wrapped around an arm or a leg, it could cause serious injury such as broken limbs or worse. If it catches any other object it could lift it and cause it to fly around dangerously, as in the video below.
Here's an example of what can happen when a rope gets out of control: ua-cam.com/video/nVzMFdU74DY/v-deo.html

@@jayro5653no the bell is secured in place by a knot or something that makes it spin around you can see it in any bell change ringing video in the bell fry you see coloured pieces holding the bell in place it is always checked if there is any problem it would be replaced
