This is the best video i have seen in regards to installing a catch can. Very well done,, my engine is an APX, does it have identical piping? Also i am no longer on facebook so can only converse here
Thank you, I'm glad it helped. The top curly pipe at the crank case is actually for a BAM engine which allowed me to fit my catch can in the location I chose. As far as I'm aware the bottom piping is the same on all engines and the top differs to engine code. I can tell from the follow notification, I have setup an Instagram page too.. I'll be adding the link to all my videos and give everybody another way of contacting me Send me pictures of the engine and your plans if you like
Hi mate I have same engine as yours in video and I wanna fit the oil catch can but I don’t wanna run it inline with the pcv system what do I need to do with it to delete?? I’d really appreciate if you can give me some advice
hi great video (just I am not that smart) sorry. please i was hoping you could help as my sister has bought a 1999 225 tt (apx) a short while ago it has a rough idle but with the maf sensor unplugged it drove much better (so she had been driving like this for a few weeks) but now the rough idle has come again even with the maf still off!! Any ideas what this could be? or where to look for leaks?? ps tried a brand new maf got Even worse and I have now bought a crank breather pipe set/kit with pcv valve incase I have damaged pipes "not installing a catch can" so with or without a maf it has terrible idle issues, any help please in anyway would be appreciated if you read this,.Thanks
Hi, it's not easy to diagnose a rough idle just from word description to be honest. As you say you recently bought the car, I would suggest to give it a full service. Sparkplugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and also cabin/pollen filter if you want This won't necessarily fix the problem but it is definitely worth doing This should hopefully fix the problem or improve things As you are replacing the pcv pipes, make sure the pcv valve is still working too Once this is all done let us all know whether that fixed the issue
I used blue silicone pipes from creations Motorsport, you can see the part number at the beginning of the video No performance gain, these pipes should last longer than OEM as they're silicone me instead of plastic which will eventually become very brittle and crack
My PCV set-up appears to be slightly different. Instead of two hoses on the instake manifold (which you said to choose the right) i only have a singular hose at the manifold...
that doesn't seem TOO hard..my lower breather hose had a crack, I taped it up, it is now in 2 pieces..been like that for months, if not over a year..about as long as I've had all the parts to fix it..now I might just do it..
You're right, i'm filtering the majority of fumes with this setup, just not all. Many do delete the lines going to the inlet manifold but I felt more comfortable keeping the factory setup with the addition of a catch can
Haroon G I like your thought of keeping the factory stuff and just adding a catch can. just trying to figure out the best set up haha. i’m currently have mine set up like the one in the vortex forums “how to install a oil catch can, the correct way” it’s basically the same functionality of the stock set up, just a a different diagram (keeping the hockey puck)
Wauw, one of the better 'how to' vids on this!!
Best tutorial I have seen👍 I will be able to install my catch can in my good old agu.
Thank You👍
I feel you brother haha gotta love those damn agu’s
nice im going to try the same on my 1.8 t 20 v gti mk4 thank u for the video
Thanks was gonna do the sai delete but I don’t think it’s worth it in the long run I think I’ll run this set up
Good choice, I think it's better to upgrade the factory setup rather than completely scrap it
Thanks for the vid! So, did you cut original inlet PCV hose? I can't get installed the catch can since I haven't hose upgrade kit
No, I use the silicone hose to all connections and clamped down with jubilee clips
One of the best instructional videos on I want to do my 1.8 sry engine. You in Birmingham
Sorry I've just seen this comment, send me a message on the Facebook page
Can your provide the link where you bought the hoses please, thanks !
Hi, can you send me a message on Instagram to remind me please, _hgcars
What’s the link to buy that kit ?

Perfect !! 👌🏻
Do you have the link to order this kit?
TT APX from France 😎
If you can contact me on the Instagram page @_hgcars I can help you get the parts
This week I’m getting it.
hi
great video (just I am not that smart) sorry.

What hoses did you upgrade to

Contact me on Instagram and send me some photos of your pcv setup, follow _hgcars
Mine too (its a 1.8t 180hp)...
Hi, as above, contact me on Instagram and show me pictures for me to help further

It's not too hard but you need to be patient and careful, otherwise you'll end up damaging something else in the process
where do I get that kit
I purchased most from creations Motorsport but some of it from the main dealer, search for the part numbers at the beginning of the video
with this set up you are not filtering pcv fumes at idle.
You're right, i'm filtering the majority of fumes with this setup, just not all. Many do delete the lines going to the inlet manifold but I felt more comfortable keeping the factory setup with the addition of a catch can

why 4:44 ?Crankcase ventilation connection intake
At idle the crankcase vents directly into the manifold, when moving the crankcase air is vented into the turbo intake pipe
Haroon G when the Idle speed, the oil catch No job
True, since I want to keep the factory system in place I am filtering the majority of oil without interrupting the normal operation
why hiding things?
Like I said in the video, that was only a temporary setup.. I've blurred it so it doesn't confuse you with the proper setup
