listening to this made me go back & watch French Connection & Sorcerer today.. what really stands out to me is his pacing, that I would describe as moving at the speed of life (or of memory). not one self conscious shot, not one lingering shot, no filler, all story, every frame... and yet it never feels rushed.
ah jeez, sad news on a stormy night here in VA. :( but the laughs & interviews are much appreciated! god, what a range he had.. that run in the 70s.. Boys In The Band, Exorcist, French Connection, Sorcerer... all so different in flavor, qualities. That's a real director. Would love to hear you talk about his unrealized projects sometime, they all sounded so cool. Regards, RW
