I use a throttle-elevator mix invoked via a toggle switch for my launch mode. Have not had a bad launch since then. Well ... expect when I forgot to set my launch mode.
Hey thanks. Yeah I haven't flown in a few years but I still have all my stuff and this wing, and another one brand new in the box! Eventually I'll get everything out again and fly my planes and stuff again. Who knows when though. Maybe this summer but I said that last summer. Haha.
Yeah the gyro helps a little in wind. mainly and maybe on sketchy launches but I don't think it's needed but it's nice to have and play around with. I only ever flew it line of sight though.. I think it might help with stability while flying FPV not sure.
@@bwxmoto Thanks for the reply 👍😊 I think I might buy a kit and build one up as a project - something to do if we have another lockdown! Seen your videos of your mini-bikes, too - man, they look fun as well!
@@FrankDoylezw Yeah mini bikes and motorcycles are a lot of fun for sure! Just not enough nice days in a year for all the hobbies seems like sometimes. Then it's winter again just as fast.
cool vid. I launch my Z-84 using the grips under the fuse. no issues with propeller contact so far and have done this dozens of times. [knock on wood]. along with 70-75% throttle and slight angle up launch. just keep a full throwing motion past the letting it go. if this helps anyone...2826-2200kv motor3S 2200mah
Using a Lemon Rx 7ch stabizer Rx, 1300 mah 45C - 90C 3S nanotech with a 30amp YEP esc, 2208 2600kv motor with various props from 5x5 to 6x4.5. I did have the stock GearBest PNP motor in there (orange one) and then I got a SunnySky motor (the purple one) later, same size and specs. It runs 25.4 amps and 293 watts with a 6x4. 287 w/ 7gm nose weight w/o batt, 404gm with 45c 1300 3s and 7gm nose weight (needed for CG) It runs pretty good.
It does help in a lot of wind and when launching. Definitely not needed though. Most of the time I fly it with the stab turned off. I have a bunch of those stabs though. I have not flown it FPV yet though, and it might help there.
These 7 chan LemonRx stabs are pretty good. Some have diversity antennas, I used a sat with the one in this plane. There's a new one that has auto-level. This one has been solid. We'll see how it goes with more distance when I FPV the thing this summer.
I put a eachine TX03 on mine. Simple an great video _lh3.googleusercontent.com/gmp-ebH75QRx4o0rey5sU1GLNroP5GTw9tBMJoxxHd3B2cxWSfYK-DZiW_hbaCgLNjMHaFH83w_
I have a couple TX02 vtx cam combos. I just bought another Z-84 kit and will make that one into an FPV plane and keep the first one as LOS I think. FPV one will probably get beat up more!

Yeah that’s a good idea! I might try that next summer.
Nice video 😊 Are you still flying your wing? Interested in your thoughts about the gyro - does it help?

skytalon74 Thanks. Yeah you might be fine but I've seen a lit of mangled fingers/ tendons/ hands. Not worth the risk to me.
did you have the elevator up a bit for takeoff?
I think you’re just looking at the nature reflex in the wing maybe. 🤷♂️ It was trimmed out to the center. CG was on nubs under wing.
Drone Pilot oh... but no I didn’t. I think I mis-read you’re comment before.
Looks smooth maybe a little nose heavy, Nice flight
Thanks, it's a fun little plane.

Is the stabilizer worth putting in?

I have an orange stabilized rx from 2008. Was never very impressed with it.
