You and other multilingual people like you have inspired me to start learning multiple languages as well. I love languages and I think it's a great way to connect with others on a deeper level.
I like how with the Japanese guy (although you eventually asked him if he just wanted to speak Japanese) he was so comfortable in your bilinguality that he could practise his English eve if a bit broken and if necessary you would be able to explain the errors in perfect Japanese and be really clear which is one downside to having language lessons where the people teaching you their language ONLY know that language although there are upsides to total immersion.
the downside by doing that is he will realize that his English is really broken better to let him speak first then let him to be accustomed to the intonation of the language
I can give you a different perspective, which is as true of Japan, as it is true of Hungary. People want to talk to you in your language because the one used only assimilates inward, meaning without sufficient representation of foreigners, any foreign language becomes a shadow image of the actual language. It gets passive and forgotten outside some hotspots. A secondary misstep people are prone to make is claiming they speak a foreign language when all that they do is adapting said language to their own rules. That gave birth to Chinglish and Japlish. To give an example, this means a person once learned "you hit the nail on the head", but after losing a live connection to native speakers, it devolves into the local version of that expression (if it's different), and when they express themselves again, they use that metaphor translated into English, and they spend more time explaining than recalling that "you hit the nail on the head" means. It's possible to speak your own language using foreign words, without a hint of relation to the culture that shaped said foreign language. Therefore, I can totally understand his desire to escape the monolingual language desert that is Japan, and Ikenna is a professional for encouraging him.
The Japanese guy near the start’s English. Impressive r’s, sounds like he’s rolling each of them. I know with a Japanese accent some people don’t quite do the r’s. He went the opposite direction. . . . . . Edit: It’s weird getting likes on a comment, especially one like this. So all likes are dedicated to Unnamed Japanese Guy.
If it's in kanji they sometimes stress the R sound more than L I've no idea why but that's the way i hear it but we tend to have a hard time distinguishing both R and L in a word like roll, red lobster, pearl etc etc

Hmm He should team up with Symor and get international interviews and stories.
You’re the first person I’ve ever seen not butcher Romanian words that wasn’t Romanian. Congrats! That’s a big accomplishment! Ai vorbit fuarte bine fratele meu!

Wait so what do Canadians say then?
I don't understand at all, what's the problem with "quatre vingt"?
@@henriquecarvalho22 Quatre vingt is 80 in French, and it basically translates to 'four twenties' which is a ridiculous thing. Especially when you get higher and you say that with additional numbers attached to it. Like 90, for example, would be quatre-vingt-treize. Four twenties, with the additional thirteen added.
Also nobody roast me please and thank you I took high school level French 😭

You and other multilingual people like you have inspired me to start learning multiple languages as well. I love languages and I think it's a great way to connect with others on a deeper level.
It also improves your way of thinking and keeps your brain fit (I can't seem to find the right word)
9:16
