I just want to say as a mother who has lost her child when Gail said when Brian died she knows how the mother who lost her daughter feels. no sorry you don't know how she feels unless you lose a child of your own, you felt grief when Brian died but its NOTHING like the grief losing a child
I don't have kids and I thought the same...there would be no comparison. Yes, there would be grief but the only comparison would be the sudden nature of it all. Of course, it's only a show, and we should never negate someone's grief, but there would be no comparison.
I fully agree. Gail saying she knows how the grieving mother feels, is quite an insult. Gail and Brian were at loggerheads and leading completely separate lives when Brian was killed. Okay, she probably didn't want him dead, but at the time he died - she didn't want him.

Norris, Dereck, Reg, Maureen are all over characterised as comedy characters in a farce while real characters like Emily, Jack, Sally are in decline. The artful skill of writing comedy into the tragedy of real life is disappearing .... Still good, but the excellence of previous decades is seen less and less, and those Alan Bennett like philosophical one-liners are almost non-existent in favour of drawn out dry-as-a-bone storylines. Having watched 2 decades on the bounce it's really obvious. I can't find anything between the lines anymore.

On paper Audrey is an extremwly awful and very shallow person but I can't not like her. She's a hoot of a character. I really do enjoy her scenes. Sue Nicholls is hil-lair!

I think I can answer your questions. I know that Sally is married to Tim Metcalfe, has been for a few years now. Rita married Elsie Tanners Son and I think one more time after. Gail married Richard and then 3 or 4 more men after that. They all ended in divorce bar one who died I stopped watching modern corrie in 2017
Oh and Martin had a "relationship" with a teenager in the early 2000s. I don't remember him with anyone else before he left Kevin... He cheated on Sally and had a Son who's 12plus years old. I can't remember if he remarried. Ashley remarried after Maxine but that ended in tragedy

No way. When Denise initially moved to The Street there was some resemblance before the writers and producers lost the plot. Pat Phoenix was magnetic and had star quality. Tanya is bloodless and pursuing husbands and boyfriends of others is like a sport for her. Elsie Tanner had a heart of gold.

I think I can answer your questions. I know that Sally is married to Tim Metcalfe, has been for a few years now.
Rita married Elsie Tanners Son and I think one more time after.
Gail married Richard and then 3 or 4 more men after that. They all ended in divorce bar one who died
I stopped watching modern corrie in 2017
Oh and Martin had a "relationship" with a teenager in the early 2000s. I don't remember him with anyone else before he left
Kevin... He cheated on Sally and had a Son who's 12plus years old. I can't remember if he remarried.
Ashley remarried after Maxine but that ended in tragedy
Martin had an affair with a nurse too, not the Irish one, another one who was in Waterloo rd. Think they moved to Liverpool in the end.

Even I, looking back over episodes from the 1970s & 80s which i lived through as a young adult, can see vast differences in public opinion, tastes, views & values of those times
Looking back over its a different world in many respects

Denise is the spitting image
No way. When Denise initially moved to The Street there was some resemblance before the writers and producers lost the plot. Pat Phoenix was magnetic and had star quality. Tanya is bloodless and pursuing husbands and boyfriends of others is like a sport for her. Elsie Tanner had a heart of gold.
