How can the most gentle sounding person be so savage.
JM is the man.
The Bob Ross of lifters!
But he he savage. I bought his weight cut book in the 1990s. Intense he is willing to take himself to places that many won’t
J.M. Blakley: "I want to play a game"
Average gym bro: "run!!"
I love this training style but wow does it hurt
Idk why but his style and the way he talks is terrifying
😭😭😭
He’s the quiet scary guy!
Big shoutout to that young man for grinding through it. Mentors like J M are a gold mine of information. I'm pretty thankful they give us all this advice for free
I just seen this and it's some Of the best info I ever heard or seen
Best words of advice: "He can't get any better today." So many people think more is better.
JM is scary. He's so soft spoken you completely forget how capable he is with how he talks to you.
"You keep going till I get tired, okay?"
"YES SIR!!!!!"
J.M. Blakley the Bob Ross of muscle growth
J.M is so calm till you start to train
I did not know Intensity until I watched this.
*the guy is dying
JM: "tell me when it starts to hurt."
And the guy thinking "a week ago"...
Hahahaha 😆
That set lasted 3 minutes and 23 seconds. Talk about time under tension
Mike Mentzer staring down from the heavens and smiling
Exactly brother.
“Move the weight!” “Move the weight!”
What the actual f* ck do I have to do to get a training session with JM?! Who do I have to service to make this happen?
Excuse my intense vernacular. A week with JM on every body part would be like hitting the power ball. He conveys his intensity perfectly, without screaming and I love it. I connect with it.
Very good clip!
Just text me at my Insta. Ill tell youball about it. Jmblakley
It cost me hundreds of dollars back in the 90s. So, probably still hundreds of dollars in 2023 🤷🏼♂️
Holy crap…I’m gritting my teeth and tensing up just watching this set…genius!
J.M....straight up soul stealer....love this series fellas!!
This is literally what training should be like. Intense, motivating, and growth
Could we get a JM Blakely and Tate with Meadows bodybuilding workout?
I'm also guess the host doesn't like German Volume Training.
This is a higher type of intensity training. Paused reps and Dog Crap training is similar to this but this was to true failure. He will not be doing another chest exercise for the day after that.
ABSOLUTELY PLEASE! 😁
I mixes my reps with dc training n h.i.t. for 12 weeks to take some time of from strength training. I grew but I was sore for 12 weeks.
@@slapndbass I'm doing 2 sets of my normal reps and the last 2 sets D.C. till I can't get a rep. Seeing how I respond to this for a few weeks.
More people need to start trying different ways of training. Keeps things interesting as hell.
they better bring the extra wide lens cos normal cameras couldnt fit those 3 legends
I think this may be my new favourite genre of video.
JMB takes souls.
J.M. could make a killing doing ASMR bedtime stories
It’s nice to see this. Been 9 weeks into a Menzter/Yates H.I.T routine and they are a welcoming change of pace.
I'm gonna have to take the audio for motivation. I love JMs motivation his ability to be soft and yet push someone to there absolute limit
“Don’t throw up on me , or in here “ such compassion 🤣🤣
J. M. Blakley ASMR coaching channel.
I need more of this man. It’s a perfect example of intensity, volume, gym time, effort, time under tension, rest, sleep, food. Love it man
THIS VIDEO IS INSANE. This guy is worth the money holy shit. He the real guy who trained one punch man 😂
Addendum: This is a size more than pure strength method. But, if y3iu are benching less than 450 or 500 you will still reap strength benefits. They just go together for much of the time. Next, I'd like to address those of you who commented with a pretty surprising amount of certainty that this application is B.S. : I can assure you it is genuine. But, your comments remind me of a story about Henry Ford. It is said that he always took new prospective hires for higher level positions in his company out to lunch personally before hiring them. If they salted their food before they tasted it, be would not bring them on. He said that he did not trust a man who made decisions before he knew all the facts. Likewise, if you have not personally tried this method under proper guidance, you may be making up your mind TOO SOON and without all the information about it.
Those comments confuse me. Would these folks argue that Dorian Yates and Mike Mentzer didn't have great physiques using similar training styles?
Thanks for bringing high intensity back in to the spotlight. When used properly the style can have huge benefits.
This is such great content. Setup an Instagram account just now just to follow Dave's account!
I love this...thank you Elitefts!
Marine Mike
The way he's decribing what he's about to go through on that chest press so calmly and then just seeing that guy's face makes me laugh so hard. I had someone tell me before they've never seen someone go so hard on a chest press.. Doesn't matter what exercise is it, It's what you make of that exercise that counts. Loving binge watching your videos.. If you're really trying to build muscle then LISTEN TO THIS MAN!!!
Not sure what I'm feeling is awe, terror, or self-question. Maybe all of them. I don't want to be in his shoes, but I want to at the same time.
Yeah me too. What serious power lifter wouldn’t want to see if they could withstand this level of intensity?
I have never wanted a trainer before bc I thought it would be a waste of money. This is no longer the case. This man is the weight whisperer. I need this.
King Blakley, really motivating to watch! you have to give your all and then some! Thanks for showing this....
Sitting in the chest press machine while J.M. is "showing the tools" must feel like being on the electric chair 😨. So many amazing moments in this video..."is it burning yet?", "and then we'll start the hard stuff". Scary and hypnotic. Also, J.M. definitely buries the "reps to failure" debate currently going on 😅
Reminds me of Platz training style- keep going until you can't move. With added intensity
I'm suddenly glad that my gym has a chest press machine. Going to give this a try.
Ha! Yes finally someone else gets it! Arnold knew this, he said in PI, "if you have the guts" I call this ETUT. I use this in many ways from full range to partials and exercise to exercise. I had the pleasure of working out one time with Mike Katz in the 90s. If you get the opportunity to train with a pro, you bring what "you think" is everything, but that day Mike showed me what he thought was everything and he said, "if you want muscle growth this is what it takes". I was like, "you got to be kidding me?" That is how hard he pushed me just to make the point, that is what it takes. Holds, pauses, partials, and sequencing good food; and for the lay lifter, no drugs, will serve you well your entire life. Praise God!
Try this "sequence" for the shoulder. I call it "around the cap". Start with a fairly light pair of DBs. Count all reps. Do palms up, slightly bent arm, front raise, reaching failure, bend the arm and keep going to positive failure; now go to side laterals, again slightly bent, approaching failure go to 90-degree bent to positive failure; now bend over and work the rear delt raise, same process (at the end, I add some lat type pulls, forward and to the rear after failure) stand up straight and start to press, (first perpendicular then close parallel) then to partials, finally drop the weights to a hang and do upward pulls, elbows wide to failure, arch and add traps. Lighter DBs you can hit 100 reps and heavy 40-60 reps. ETUT for the shoulders by Dehlinger.
This is priceless.
I always enjoy watching JM's stuff and learning something new :)
Just remember he used to be a strength-and-conditioning coach at Ohio State, I guarantee he's given this talk to plenty of players that needed discipline.
This is the most beautiful video ever. Brings me back.
Alternate title: "How to kill a man with a seated chest press"
JM is an absolute BEAST.
Diggin this growth series with Blakely
Good technique for intensity. Good old-school dropset into partials. All these cookie cutter elitists with their strict rules don't know how to have fun anymore. Sure their are other great modernized ways to train but this is a surefire way to push yourself and error on the side of enough rather than not enough. Good stuff JM.
Fun is right. You get it!
I'm still learning and this got some sparks flying for changing my training
I would be scared to death if jm told me that
Absolutely SAVAGE. Great workout for hypertrophy as well as strength gain. This is how naturals need to train all the time if they want to make optimum gains. Provided you have adequate recovery.
This is evil. I love it.
JM the G.O.A.T !
We need a horror movie with J.M. Blakley as the main villain character.
"whispers" - i can see all of you, im right there with you, just behind you.
J.m. Needs to do a pod cast with Joe Rogan, I’m curious to see how deep that convo goes.
"If you're going to throw up, just leave" 😂😂😂
J.M. is an amazing coach! 👍
Holy Crap that was brutal.
Wow I’m glad I came across this, this morning. Gave me a completely different outlook on how I wanna approach my next gym session, and training.
This man is a genius.
"Do you understand the concept?"
"Nope. No sir. I do not." Lol
If you are gonna throw up just leave. Lmao!!
This is gold
I think they forgot to pick a safe word
This was amazing.
That is an Intense Set!
That was painfully beautiful!!👌💪😎
Put em through some hell YESSIR! This is what fucking intensity is.
JM…”but first, tell me about your childhood.”
Now that is a set!!! JM is the man :)
This video is inspirational 👍💯💯
At 0:45 when he says “for sure” you know it’s over
I absolutely love these
I’m going to push myself way more harder now ✅ subbed
im so jealous wish I had someone like JM to help me
Now do the same but with Dave T..... siting on the machine ofcourse.
Really good video and training speech
Brings me back to some of those old sadistic Drill Sergeant's from Basic.
Man A: man I hit 6 excercises for 4 sets on chest today! Feels good.
Man B: man I hit 1 giant set for just under 5 minutes and feel like I need a doctor! But it will be worth it tomorrow!
I love this shit, so many of my clients cant take this kind of intensity. But for people willing to push its no joke man.
more jm
That looked brutal.
"Oh you're on fire? DISREGARD that" 🤣
This is brilliant 👌🏼
What a motivation 😚😚😚
mate this is brutal
Yes General
This is like a less intense version of USMC bootcamp. Made me feel all warm inside.
Great video !
OUCH! "Anymore would be wrong" lol
JM has a very Don Vito Corleone vibe to him when he speaks.
Psychopathic. Love it.
Look I'm gonna be completely honest guys.....I only subscribe because of J.M.....
Of course Mr Fring.
This shit is gold. What an absolute savagery sherpa.
Do the plates in that stack sound like they are magnetic or sticking to anyone else
how to you go about programming these? After max effort/dynamic effort or on a day for its own?
😂😂God bless you J.M.
Love this guy
"two more of these isometrics and then we'll start the hard stuff" meanwhile the poor guys already dying
Great video 🤘
this man is a villain 😂
It's very true that HIT ain't for everyone because it HURTS , lets just call it like it is & it never caught on like it should have because most simply cannot stomach it !!!
i guarantee this guy couldn't wipe his ass for 3 days, good shit
Fuck yes
Jesus Christ, just lift heavy shit until you're tired.
