The translation is actually fairly different in places, in order to find good rhymes in English, but the "storyline" and intent is perfectly interpreted! Very impressive, and what a performance!
I'm going to look up Georg Kriesler now, to correct what sounds like an unjustified hole in my education of Deutschsprachig culture. And probably disappear down the consequent UA-cam "black hole" for a few hours! 🤣
Let me give you the greatest compliment a German/Westphalian can give. Not bad. :) And now from the Ruhrpott: Love it, keep on. Greetings from Dortmund, the future Champions League winner ... I wish. 🖖
In the German version he first sings about how great their love was and how they got married and since then he has wanted out of the relationship. I think the German version is better in terms of humor because he uses words ambiguously several times, with the second meaning only becoming clear in the next verse. I think you have to be born in the language to use this stylistic device. If I didn't know the German version, I would have said the English version is great, but I would say it's really good.
I didn't know that he made an english version :D Bodo Wartke is a really talented musician. Often with a touch of comedy elemented but also just good sounding music
Bodo Wartke is a Legend! He has funny Songs but his Songs commenting on Society and Politics are as equally good. Check out more! He will soon reach Reinhard Mey Standards I believe! RM is THE ICON of Singer/Songwriters! There is actually a Video where they are both on the same Stage
Hi, Mace! Advantage for you! You must have understood everything very well. I need to get a few words translated. But overall it was “understandable”, and funny. Nice to see your reaction! ☺ Are you looking for another career? 👍
You are right and some passages are more funny because of the double meaning of some words you can´t translate literally but he managed to translate it to quite a good english version.
Okay, I knew the German original and am quite impressed that he managed to translate it almost to a t into English🤣
it's very hard to translate a well known and successful song/joke into another language. I think he did an extremely well job.
8:46 "It kinda actually... honestly..inspires me to..." and I'm like 😱WHAT?!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Great reaction, thanks!🤣 I'm glad you liked the video. And boy, you have hidden talents!😮 Greetings from Germany!
Bodo Wartke's song is very much in the tradition of Georg Kreisler's "dark songs" (e.g. "please, shoot your husband"). Brilliant!

@@johnm8224 Tim Fischer is a brilliant interpreter of Kreisler's songs. They were friends, too! ua-cam.com/video/ctDPARwxKKo/v-deo.html
You both managed to sneak in a surprising end. Good job
