I miss Alan Wilder in DM; they haven't been the same without him. 💔 Gahan's voice, Gore's lyrics, Wilder's musical composition... all together, unmatched and untouchable. Alan is a genius; innovative, creative and way ahead of his time.
I miss Fletch but right about now Alan would be a GODSEND if he returned to the band. They just don’t have the desperate evocative almost melancholy mood that Alan captured soooo well. He was BY FAR the most educated member of the band when it comes to musical theory & sound engineering.

@@katherinepacheco3668 Y no es que Alan lo fuera todo. Ahí estaba Martin con sus estupendas melodías y letras, y Dave con su tremenda voz melancólica. El trío creador perfecto... lo que ocurre es que a una preciosa melodía de Martin llegaba Alan y le añadía su talento a la hora de crear e insertar todos esos sonidos metálicos, industriales, a veces simplemente ruidos o notas ambientales pero que llenaban todo el espacio sonoro del tema. Y luego la cantaba Dave y el resultado era una genialidad.... Y Andy? Dónde estaba Andy? No solo no haciendo nada sino que encima incordiando. En una entrevista le leí a Alan decir que se sintió muy minusvalorado por Fletch. Al parecer Alan se encerraba él solo horas y horas en el estudio intentando sacar sonidos para las canciones de Martin y llegaba Andy y, al escuchar esos sonidos aislados y aparentemente "desconexos" y aún por entonces "sin sentido", soltaba algo así como un "pero eso qué es?" con sonrisa burlona... "eso no me gusta". Eso es todo lo que hacía... sin aportar ninguna idea ni ningún talento musical, se limitaba a tirar por tierra los experimentos sonoros de Alan, experimentos que una vez conjuntados, y sumados a la melodía y a la voz, daban lugar a las tantas joyas de esos años. Por otro lado, Alan se trabajaba prácticamente solo la producción sonora de los conciertos. Incluso hay más, el disco Songs of faith and devotion se lo curró él solo encerrado en el estudio. Los otros tres miembros al parecer no aparecían por el estudio y vio que si no se arremangaba él aquello no salía adelante. Y lo arregló entero él solo... y menudo pedazo de disco quedó. Por eso en cuanto acabó esa gira decidió dejar el grupo... En muchos sitios he leído que sería genial que Alan volviera, pero no soy de esa opinión; le tengo en demasiada estima como para desearle tal daño mental. Creo que nunca debió sentirse tan liberado como el día que les dijo ahí os quedáis. Y ahí se quedaron, como pollos sin cabeza... desde entonces algunos buenos temas, pero la mayoría de canciones no son dignas de aquel grupo de los 80-90 que hacía música para las masas sin renunciar a su estilo único y personal, y sin hacer concesiones a lo comercial... desde entonces solo lo ha ido medio salvando la voz de Dave. De hecho, en mi opinión, el mejor disco de Depeche Mode desde que se fue Alan es "Hourglass", el segundo en solitario que publicó Dave Gahan. Las canciones están tan bien compuestas y arregladas que parece que hubiera estado detrás de ellas el espíritu de Alan. Larga vida, Alan Wilder Descanse en paz, Andy Fletcher
