I’ve volunteered at a charity shop and found some great pieces, i got a leather handbag for £4 which matched a purse i already had! Also a piece of advice for people who are new to charity shopping is to be kind to the staff, we’re not like Primark who have paid staff to clean up your mess and put everything back in place…some of our staff have disabilities and it’s unfair to be making a big mess or leaving your rubbish in the changing rooms (i won’t tell the horror stories of things i’ve found in there!) I know most people aren’t like that but you’d be surprised! I love looking round the charity shops for the items i need/want before i go to the shops/online shops so I can be sure that i’m not wasting money and i’m not contributing to fast fashion :)
I’m from America and will be traveling to the UK for the first time ever in December to visit my boyfriend and his family and I’m so glad I saw this video! I love thrifting here in America and I would love to see what there is out there.

But anytime she finds something she knows I’d like she grabs it for me and I do the same for her. The second hand shops near me aren’t as beautiful as the one you were filming in! My boyfriend got me a mini knitted cat key ring about 3 years ago and I bring it in my pocket every single day as my panic teddy i can squeeze when I’m anxious. I love charity shops so much the amount off good stuff I found one time I found a top shop coat for £6! There’s always something about pre owned jeans that fit so much better. I’m so glad you did this video
As somebody who manages a charity shop my biggest tip would be to get friendly with the staff! We have lots of regulars who we know the sort of things they like, we might keep an eye out for things for them, let them know which are the best days to pop in for new stock
I take a pair of jeans that fit me really well and lay them flat and measure them. From hip to hip, top to crotch (if you like high waisted) and from crotch to ankle. So I can measure thing’s before I try them on so I only try on like 4 pants instead of 7. And I so the same with my shirts and other clothing. I have a note in my phone of my measurements. Super helpful! And I leave a measuring tape in my purse.
I love this! Pretty much all my clothes are thrifted and vintage + my home decor! And I’m lucky enough to have friends that hand make clothes and accessories 😍 so it’s super sustainable and so much better for the environment than fast fashion 🙌 💗 i too would also be interested in a charity shop haul 🤩
I second the buying gifts from charity shops! As someone who used to volunteer in one, we actually kept really good stuff/unopened things that was donated to us in a big box to go out for christmas, so it's definitely worth having a look in charity shops for gifts! Obviously every one is different, but it's something to keep in mind!

I also want to thank the Americans cause they brought thrift shopping to our attention, charity shops became popular. 😁😆X just a tip i do take stuff back, but i always put the value of the item back into their charity pot. Because some places are good now and only do a recepit in the value for their shop, so i get the controversail aspect but most shops have got savy about this. X

I wish I could use charity shops. I have really bad contamination ocd and this literally prevents me from so much including buying from charity shops. I know someone who worked at a charity shop too and the things that she found mixed in with clothes was horrible. They don’t clean the items either. Obviously yes you can clean them ur self but ocd just stops me.
I love charity shops because I’m always able to find such high quality, timeless pieces on a budget (which is great for a student)
