@@justBeOrDontB7568 I just heard Netflix formally cancelled this show a couple days ago after it won an Emmy. :( I'm not too mad at them. I know puppetry/CGI is incredibly expensive and I'm sure not a lot of people gave the show a chance, but I guess we'll never know how the resistance ended.
Similar to Breath of the Wild, this show saved the older, more recognizable, theme of it's franchise for moments where the leitmotif would stick to you. Breath of the Wild only used Legend of Zelda's old theme in Hyrule Castle, galloping at night, a few cutscenes, and at the very end. Age of Resistance only used Dark Crystal's original theme once near the beginning, and once at the end. I think this is pretty cool. Also, sorry for the wall of text.
Netflix can continue other shows and not this? I am shattered. Beauty dont describe the importance/need of this show. Jim would turn in his damn grave. get it made!
I was afraid they were gonna ruin it but the series are even better than the movie! Absolute perfection. Jim would be proud. As for the theme, while it doesn't reach the highs and "epicness" of the OG, I still think it's gorgeous and it fits the series perfectly. Can't wait for season 2!
I honestly thought i wouldn't be interested in this series or the original movie, but the skeksis just caught my attention because i loved the way they were made and so much great puppeteering with every character, it just got me instantly interested that now i want to see what happens next for season 2
I like this piece; It has a Celtic sort of sound, differing significantly from Trevor Jones' score. That major separation from Jones' score will take some getting used to for me, but overall, I think David Pemberton orchestrated a beautiful piece, and that it is necessary to give a new sound to this new production. I am very excited!
The Celtic sounds scream Froud-ness to me. This world has been, it seems to me, even more enriched with their vision of Thra as compared to the original movie.
So far I've seen only 5 episodes & I agree it's so different, I've heard the original theme once when they first show the title, & the main Podling's action theme in one episode sounds a lil like the podling dance music but that's about it.
The music is very good, I always like to hear it, I love the series, it's the best I've ever seen, I'm always listening to this song, because I keep thinking about each episode of the series, thanks for doing this series
This song... makes me weep. Reminds me of how everyone hated the Canto Bite horse escape scene. “They’ll just recapture them in 20mins!” Maybe. But they have a chance to make it. All the death and suffering if one of us makes it. It matters. Hope is indeed the name of a sinking ship. But that ship isn’t necessarily lost, not sunk yet. We can still save the ship called Hope. We have a chance to make it. Those little puppets fought the good fight and they lost. They still fought. Short lived. Long lived. They’re not what makes something beautiful. I think of my ancestors and yours. They existed. Everyone that died and suffered to get you here reading this. These puppets and the story they told 😂 lol
Me and my brother have just finished watching the last 2 episodes, and god dammit this might be one of the best series ever. I shall never forget Chamberlain's discourse to the emperor and the goosebumps it gave me.
This show was such a creative masterpiece! And as someone who has been a fan of Dark Crystal ever since I saw the original as a kid, it's so sad that they canceled. Especially after what happened in the end like... wtf?! You cant just end the series on several massive cliff hangers like that! Anyway I really hope that they can find another way to give us the series, I'm thinking they could perhaps do it as CG like they originally planned.
I am a 280 pound bodybuilder who thought the time of the adventure series of my youth were long gone. Watching this show for the first time and being so emotionally attached to puppets and so enthralled by the musical score and world-building production is a testament to Jim Henson Studios' ability to tell a story well, at a time when many others fall flat (Disney's Star Wars, etc). Thank you for making my long forgotten 10 year old self smile while watching this show. And thank you Netflix for bringing it to us.
I cannot wait for it to be released on Netflix on Friday! I even asked to take the day off work just to watch it (my boss said no 🤦♂️😂) I have loved the original film since I was a kid, in 24 now and I’m just so excited to return to Thra! This music takes me there straight away, it’s beautiful!
I literally can't get over what a visually + emotionally stunning show this was 😤♥️ it's just so fantastic how much they broadened and visualised this world + lore
i wish i could explain how this theme makes me feel... it’s so ethereal and terrifying and heroic and uncertain and final and i CANT EXPLAIN IT but it’s just perfect for this incredible fantasy world
This is not only beautiful and takes you completely into the world of Thra but when ever this plays in the show shit is about to get real. The Skeksis monologue over the final montage in the first episode had me in tears and mesmerized at what i just watched.
What an amazing score from Daniel Pemberton and Trevor Jones!! Theyve been elevated into the same class as Ramin Djwaldi, Howard Shore, and Michael Stein (Starnger Things)
I feel so sorry for those childlings who haven’t seen the movie, god forbid when this series comes to an end. Its not going to be a happy ending that’s for sure. There is some beauty in that. Good luck.
Are there bots literally here to hit dislike so that the like/dislike button still have a reason to exist? -_-; Edit (8/12/2022): Welp, the dislike button is gone. So now this video is forever loved!!! Thank goodness!!!
This song has been stuck in my head for DAYS. So beautiful. It's different and they didn't reuse Trevor Jone's music just for nostalgia, but I love that it's different. It almost feels like we're in another time just from the music. Trevor Jones was from the Age of Wonder, and this is the Age of Resistance :)
Very well said. At first I hoped they'd keep the old tune but actually this works much better. You feel the sacrifice and tragedy that all the Gelfling have suffered before Jen fulfills the prophecy ❤

Because GOD it's so gorgeous artistically, musically, character wise
I love it
The sad thing is we know how its gonna end and it would be devastating.
At least we know the Skeksis will eventually be defeated.
@@andrewbrigmond8784 not really defeated, just become whole again. Gelfling, however, are practically extinct. :(
Who knows... maybe this is a multi-verse thing and the resistance will win out in this series? A man can dream
@@speakdino10 good idea! But they will try to remain true to Jim Jensen's original movie... Which is basically the reason this series exist. Sad to think it will most likely end like clone wars did.😭
@@justBeOrDontB7568 I just heard Netflix formally cancelled this show a couple days ago after it won an Emmy. :(
I'm not too mad at them. I know puppetry/CGI is incredibly expensive and I'm sure not a lot of people gave the show a chance, but I guess we'll never know how the resistance ended.
This reminds me of Breath Of The Wild... so pretty!
Don't see the resemblance
Brooo the scene with this music in episode one gave me chills !!
I wonder what Jim's ghost ,react when he sees his own creation, that he so much passion in?
I just started watching this on Netflix and I love it SO MUCH ♥️
Netflix can continue other shows and not this?
"You have heart...I'll take that too."

The song of the proletariat!
Those brave little puppets fought the good fight and lost.
Well done, comrades.
Bless this show. I miss it.
He also did a super epic soundtrack for "King Arthur: Legend of Sword"... I really like Daniel Pemperton's soundtracks
So far I've seen only 5 episodes & I agree it's so different, I've heard the original theme once when they first show the title, & the main Podling's action theme in one episode sounds a lil like the podling dance music but that's about it.
what sort of person thumbs down this? just watched episode 1, and wow...amazing writing and storytelling. this will be an epic journey

The music is very good, I always like to hear it, I love the series, it's the best I've ever seen, I'm always listening to this song, because I keep thinking about each episode of the series, thanks for doing this series
the music is so good and the entire production is amazing, I'm in love witrh the world
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
You can literally feel the heroism and the passion running through you while you listen to this .
This song... makes me weep.
Reminds me of how everyone hated the Canto Bite horse escape scene. “They’ll just recapture them in 20mins!”
Maybe.
This music provides inner energy for me
Me and my brother have just finished watching the last 2 episodes, and god dammit this might be one of the best series ever.
I shall never forget Chamberlain's discourse to the emperor and the goosebumps it gave me.
That's Just beautiful!!
STUNNING. Just the right feel for the world.
I just watched the first episode and immediately fell in love with this track.
I just finished the first season... All I can say is that I wasn't emotionally prepared for it... Best show I've seen in a long time!
The whole soundtrack to this series is absolutely phenomenal. So inspiring!!
i finished this yesterday and I wanna rewatch it already
I am a 280 pound bodybuilder who thought the time of the adventure series of my youth were long gone. Watching this show for the first time and being so emotionally attached to puppets and so enthralled by the musical score and world-building production is a testament to Jim Henson Studios' ability to tell a story well, at a time when many others fall flat (Disney's Star Wars, etc). Thank you for making my long forgotten 10 year old self smile while watching this show. And thank you Netflix for bringing it to us.
This is why I listen to soundtracks more than normal music
I cannot wait for it to be released on Netflix on Friday! I even asked to take the day off work just to watch it (my boss said no 🤦♂️😂) I have loved the original film since I was a kid, in 24 now and I’m just so excited to return to Thra! This music takes me there straight away, it’s beautiful!
you like labyrinth and other henson stuff too
Johnlindsey289 oh yes! Currently reading the labyrinth novelisation 👌
Your boss seems to be a good person.
I literally can't get over what a visually + emotionally stunning show this was 😤♥️ it's just so fantastic how much they broadened and visualised this world + lore
i wish i could explain how this theme makes me feel... it’s so ethereal and terrifying and heroic and uncertain and final and i CANT EXPLAIN IT but it’s just perfect for this incredible fantasy world
You can hear Trevor Jones vibes but with The Amazing touch Of Daniel Pemberton. The score gonna be Amazing!
This is not only beautiful and takes you completely into the world of Thra but when ever this plays in the show shit is about to get real. The Skeksis monologue over the final montage in the first episode had me in tears and mesmerized at what i just watched.
Very beautiful music to accompany an amazing show. Love love love the prequel. Hopefully we get more?
Got done rewatching it i love this show and movie so much
This is the beginning of a new adventure!
I'm totally in love with this series!
Absolutely gorgeous TV show! I have no words for it. It's so incredibly creative and unique, I will probably re-watch it times and times again.
What an amazing score from Daniel Pemberton and Trevor Jones!!
Theyve been elevated into the same class as Ramin Djwaldi, Howard Shore, and Michael Stein (Starnger Things)
Stranger Things score is not really that special.
took me less than 24 hours to binge watch the entire season. bring on season 2!!!
Marvelous! Can't wait for this series to air!
Full of magic!!! You can feel it!!!
Love this soundtrack. It's very haunting and dreamy.
I can remember being a little kid and watching this on VCR. lol those were the days weren't they?
my mom took me to see this twice in theaters, don't remember the year it came out 1980something... EPPIC!!
I feel so sorry for those childlings who haven’t seen the movie, god forbid when this series comes to an end. Its not going to be a happy ending that’s for sure. There is some beauty in that.
Good luck.
Are there bots literally here to hit dislike so that the like/dislike button still have a reason to exist? -_-;
Edit (8/12/2022): Welp, the dislike button is gone. So now this video is forever loved!!! Thank goodness!!!
Too bad we can't drain those bots of their essence. It would be better than killing the poor Gelfling
Man i was so in love with the sound track while watching this.
I don't really like many TV shows, but when I do... Oh boy.
The series is as good as the movie. But the major difference is, there are ten of them.
I'd argue it's better, just because the setting and characters are too interesting to only have a single movie's runtime for
The series deserves to be on the big screen.
Better than the film. The film was a good prototype, the series feels like the perfected version.
Beautiful. I love it. The main big thing I'm wondering now is if we'll hear Kylan's song in the show or not.
Love the series, absolutely outstanding
This song has been stuck in my head for DAYS. So beautiful. It's different and they didn't reuse Trevor Jone's music just for nostalgia, but I love that it's different. It almost feels like we're in another time just from the music. Trevor Jones was from the Age of Wonder, and this is the Age of Resistance :)
Very well said. At first I hoped they'd keep the old tune but actually this works much better. You feel the sacrifice and tragedy that all the Gelfling have suffered before Jen fulfills the prophecy ❤
@@Sawrattan
Yup and it used jones's theme a couple of times
Knowing the movie, each new episode was nerve wracking for me. Then I realized there's going to be MORE and now I'm absolutely terrified
Netflix made the dumbest decision to cancel this show
This makes me remember Trevor Jones' soundtrack for Merlin.
Trevor Jones did the original Dark Crystal soundtrack too
skekSo: Has the Gelfling learned what we have done?
skekSil: Emperor must remember his own words. We are Lords of the crystal, yes? Even if Rian talk, none will believe. They will shun him. Cast him out. How can they not? To believe him is not to believe themselves. Skeksis reign a thousand trine and will reign a thousand thousand more, until last star in sky goes DARK. Gelfling will submit, head bowed, back bent as have always done. Gelfling want to be ruled. Gelfling need to be ruled. Because Gelfling are WEAK! Gelfling are SMALL! And Skeksis are *forever*! *Mmmmmmhmmmmm* We took the Crystal! Thra belongs to us, now! And is nothing... NOTHING Gelfling can DO!
This is it. This is the masterpiece series I was waiting for.
Well damn. The music for Arthur was already a banger but this makes Daniel Pemberton truly and officially my new hero.
Do any of you know what the status of the series is at the moment? Are there any plans to continue or to collaborate with platforms other than Netflix?
I didn't watch the movie as a kid. I actually only watched it fairly recently. And even though I didn't see it as "great," I honestly respected how much effort went into it. I kind of got the feeling of "This would have been better as a TV show."
And it turns out I was totally right.
Do you think the show surpasses the film? and what about Labyrinth the other Henson fantasy?
