Alright, my comment is being made at the start, "Dong Days Ahead", got me, whatever happens, good luck! Excellent episode as always, looking forward to the next!
Love your stuff man. It's a real treat seeing someone with as much talent as yourself play CDDA. So glad i came across this channel, it's always a fun and wild ride watching you play RPG's ♥️
Ants are pretty much blind but they are attracted to noise so gunfire will draw them out of the forest like a beacon. (Rycon seems to forget this every single time he fights them). Acid ants can be great killing allies if you use their acid attacks to lure zombies through the pools of acid and let it kill them. You can save a lot of bullets and make less noise. Also there was a lot of soap upstairs that you missed which would be great for washing some of that filthy gear.
I have never played CDDA, never even heard of it until episode one landed in my recomended feed, and so far I am hooked! Considering picking up the game on steam or trying an older version to see what the controlls learning curve is like. But enjoying watching so far.
Definitely grab the CDDA launcher instead of the steam version. The steam version is pretty poorly implemented from what I hear. Also, don't let the controls overwhelm you. They will but don't let it kill the fun. I've definitely gone prone and crawled away from zombies. Or taken my shoes off in glass. It's all part of the dumb fun when learning it.
He talks about it after shooting the door a bit. There's a decent chance you can kill, or injure yourself. So I can imagine he doesn't want to deal with that.
You can't use a hacksaw on metal doors AFAIK, but you can use a pickaxe or jackhammer to break down the wall and then cut the rebar inside with a hacksaw. Metal doors are a real SOB in this game.
Actually really impressed with the good doctor at this point. With skills as low as he has, managing to penetrate and mostly clear a military helipad was impressive. The ants helped, to be sure, but still. I don't generally bother with helipads at this point, because last I checked, the loot in those two locked rooms wasn't anywhere near the trouble. Some bits of military uniform kit in the storage room off the hangar, and then nothing in the room that you access from the corridor. Also, no card readers is pretty infuriating. I typically use a jackhammer to cut through the wall, and then a hacksaw for the rebar reinforcement underneath the concrete. Only thing, honestly, that used to make helipads worth it was the turrets and the fuel, but without the turrets and their ammo I really don't think it's worth the effort and expenditure of resources at this point. Still, I'm impressed that Dong survived, and from a RP point of view, it would make perfect sense that he'd see a military helipad and think, "that must be a good place to go!"
8:55 I believe the protection values on armor like the vest (the %s) shows what the protection levels are a % of the amount of time you are hit, based on the type of materials the item is made out of. Since the ballistic vest has a layer of 95% kevlar, 95% of the hits you take will roll versus that armor value, while 5% will roll against the underlying synthetic fibers. So even if it's half-broken, a ballistic vest can provide some very good protection. It's weakest against bash attacks, which is also your best bet when dealing with zombie soldiers (other than big guns, of course). For anybody who can get their hands on them (and like getting into close combat), I really recommend using a heavy/ballistic vest with 2 ESAPI plates for the upper torso, and 2 ESBI plates for the sides, as those plates effectively act wearing like separate, additional armor, even when they break apart. It's heavy, but not as much as metal armor, and you can become almost impervious to normal zombie attacks against your torso due to the high values. Going for one of the combat knives in a sheath is also good starting out, as they are very quick and allow you to do hit-backup tactics if you're not overburdened, along with quick storage and retrieval.
Earlier today I got electrocuted in quite possibly the dumbest way possible, after going to the hospital and getting checked out, everything is fine aside from finger burns, I am now resting at home and lucky me just watched the last rimworld biotech episode and now I get cheered up by the new cdda episode as well. In another note how was your trip?
You can't hacksaw open doors than can't be picked. You can only use .50 cal bullets, acetylene torch, heavy sledgehammer/Pickaxe (the wall is easier, but will use a hacksaw.)
Actually, you can remotely check content of visible container, even tho it's unrealistic. Just V for list, highlight it, e to examine it then scroll down for a list of everything inside. And after all that, you forgot about that Tac vest, those can have ammo. Autofire with your STR is extreme waste, you get 1 normal hit, and ~half another, so 2,5 bullets just do nothing, to add to it, extreme recoil makes aiming next shot abit longer. It's worse with M249, it is meant for mounting on vehicles. Those closed doors are cruel, one has nothing (some machinery), other has some basic tools an such. There was a hacksaw in the plant, specifically in the little building south of it. In the comments to that ep I recommended you coming back for it, I knew you'd need it. In CDDA, hacksaw is a man's best friend, unless you play Magiclysm. After obligtory dong jokes, condom can be used to craft makeshift stethoscope, which can (eventually) open safes. Not that dial ones are any good. Touring suit + motorcycle helmet actually make for a decent 1st full-body armor. Worse then Riot Armor one can get off SWATZ, but it works.
Maybe the mechanics in CDDA for auto weapons is a little sloppy, but an M249 SAW is not necessarily meant for vehicle mounting, SAW stands for Squad Automatic Weapon, it's a light machine gun meant to be carried in infantry squads, hence the SAW designator. The M240 is a medium machine gun, which CAN still be carried by infantry (usually a two man team, one with the gun, one with extra ammo) but is much more commonly mounted, then there is the M2 Browning, a heavy machine gun, which is most often mounted to a vehicle or setup on a tripod in a reinforced (sandbag bunker, watch tower etc) position due to the weight and recoil. The 249 is very easily manageable IRL recoil and weight wise
@@Havok_Arms It's a feature ;D Years ago in earliest versions, CDDA used to have very unrealistic ranged combat, due to insufficiences of engine. Rather than fixing it when more sophisticated tools were introduced, devs decided to embrace it and make it a flagship. That's why a character who fired thousands of rounds will have some trouble hitting a zombie cow across tennis court despite using scoped military grade assault rifle.
Your way of using ammo is not very efficient, i suggest leaving them with heavy bleeding or worse is better than shooting for another shot, like when you're dealing with that zombie soldier, you should just shoot them until they have heavy bleeding or arterial, then close the door and wait for them to bled to their death, so you don't use too much ammunition
Also please make dr dong a long term character and if not him then start a long term character. I loved the innawoods playthrough and watched every episode as they came out and I think it would be cool to see how the new mechanics work long term but with actual resources and books and stuff. I don’t know if you know this but you are one of the only UA-camrs that makes cataclysm and easily the best, the rest range from eh to dogshit so I rely on you for my cataclysm fix.
"Dong Days Ahead" oh you 😂
The road has been long, acid ants appear in throngs, but I suspect that this won't be the swan song for Dr. Dong! XD
I lost it when you said "Cataclysm: Dong Days Ahead"
Love the random Ikea Blajah sharks, those are so cute!

Omg, i can already see the scene: Dr. Dong wake up, tied like a ham, kidnapped by a clone of HB. That would be the Dong Days! xD

Grab the Catapult launcher, easiest way to manage multiple saves/mods/settings.

Can a grenade damage walls and doors, perhaps? Could have sworn you found some
He talks about it after shooting the door a bit.

"What else have we got?
Cream soda, and root beer
Some nicotine liquid
And some extra protection."
Some would say a good time

Metal doors are a real SOB in this game.
Somehow you succeed in making this awesome game even more awesome.
I cant explain that.

13:37 False. I saw some perfectly good zombies out there.

Always love the CDDA videos! Impressed you managed to avoid getting melted by all those acid ants!
OK, you got me with "Dong Days Ahead". That would be the name of his autobiography, published by the Exodii and traded across worlds.
Shame it wont turn into its own series it would be a downright tragedy to let Dong fall by the wayside
Dr. Dong man... What a guy 🤣

Rest up! Trip was good thanks, did some camping in low temperatures but witnessed some beautiful country
@@ryconplays I am glad the trip went well
With all those acid ants I would have taken the rubber boots, acid hurts way to much to not take those.

I would have bet that Dr Dong would have taken those pink tabs...
He seems like an ex roadie for some acid rock band or sonething along those lines...
Should we wash all the military equipment with soap?
I watched him pass up soap several times, then get back to base and just... forget to clean up!

Awsome series. Love it.
And, frustratingly, no Prussian blues. Maybe there's a hospital nearby? Or a lab?
He is not smashing them all. For acidic creatures dismember them to avoid acid splash when smashing
Would using the forklift to get into those locked rooms be viable?
Dr. Dong is quite the character 😅
Dark Dongs Ahead?
Couldn't you use the bars of soap in the helipad area to clean your clothes?
can anyone here tell me which soundpack he is using? bc i really want to try out cdda
You could have used the heroin to remove the pain that you were stuck with
Need a syringe I believe
