Hey, I just got the MR 5200 5G EU version, I want to be able to see what bands are being aggregated and also be able to make them aggregate certain combos., and I am with Three Ireland, is there any way to get a commands list for the possible combinations or to make it combine bands through commands? The bands I think three ireland has in total is: B1 (B3 1275 + B3 1700 intra contiguous) B20 B28 // 5G NSA : NR78 and N3 maybe b20 for nsa too. any help would be amazing !
Is there an extra cost for editing the bands ? I have a mr1100 that is factory unlocked already, I can edit bands thru putty but it looks like this is a lot easier.
I just picked up a MR1000 and noticed the firmware is 12.06.39.00 and Ive been reading its not the best setup to use. Currently its unlocked. I'm in the USA now but plan on using it in the Philippines once i retire later this year. Whats the best firmware I should use on this model? I may need to add bands once i get to PH. Thanks so much.
it worked for me but now is jumping around between different cell id and it just doesnt want to stay on the good one. is there a way to lock the Cell ID?
Dumb question maybe..but I have a unlocked m1..if I get good at&t service, couldn't I use t-mobile sim in my m1 ? Don't they use the same bands? 12? Thanks

Hey anyone knows if this will solve a wifi disconnect problem I've been having? Randomly in the day it disconnects and swaps bands, wifi standby is disabled and I'm using newest firmware.

Hello, I know this is an older video but I had a question and a thank you for putting this out. I followed your instructions step by step a few different times (making sure to copy and paste every single line to not mess up). After i reboot the router it shows up with nothing but a purple screen on the front where the data is usually at and I cannot access the router login page. Nothing loads up, I can access it but everything is missing. I factory reset and and its fixed but obviously unable to add band lock. I just spent a ton of $ on this to replace an old Mofi router and where I live I HAVE to be able to band lock or my internet is useless. Any idea what I am doing wrong or is there a way to fix this? It is a new unit US model if that matters and has the latest firmware.

I read somewhere that you can only add about 9 or 10 rows to the interface before you "soft brick" the device and have to reset the device to factory defaults

After following all these steps, after I reboot, I get a blue screen and it doesn't go past that. This does not allow me to enter into the settings and the only way out of it is to perform a hard reset. what am I doing wrong?

Hi Caleb, thanks for reaching out, that's a example of the command you need to change the information inside the command, if you just want to erased all you have to factory reset the modem, AT!BAND is the command =03,04,05,06,07,08 is the position, "LTE B5" is the name for the band, you must type the exact position+name+mask.
from my other comment about the "ERROR" issues I kept getting for Band 66. Found a Fix :-)
Like I stated in my original message, when I typed into Putty:
AT!BAND=14,"LTE B66",0,2
It showed "Error".
I looked around online, tried a few different things where other people also had problems getting "error" for Band 66. But none of them worked for me.
Then I figured I would try something. I know here in the US at least, the Nighthawk M1100 will only allow up to 9 bands (i think it was...) which include the original two default of "WCDMA ALL" and "LTE ALL". I only wanted to add 4 in my case.
I also finally understood that in the commands he showed in this video, the first number is not the band but rather just the line number that it appears in the drop down list in the router settings. Which in his example is Line 14 - AT!BAND=14,"LTE B66",0,2
So with this in mind, and with thinking about the M1100 not allowing more than 9 bands listed. I changed the 14 to a number =
Actually it should be
AT!BAND=03,"LTE B66",0,0,2 or you will just end up using band 2.

If you want to aggregate 2 or more bands, what you have to do it is a simply hexadecimal sum.
for example: sum of 4 bands: B20+B3+B7+B1 we have the command line

@@HoppTop AT&T is throttling down the speeds, the permanent solution is to have a enterprise account with them but you need a EIN #.. you can get this free from the irs website!

The DMZ feature is helpful when using some online games and video conferencing applications that are incompatible with NAT. In a demilitarized zone (DMZ) network configuration, a computer runs outside the firewall in the DMZ. This computer intercepts incoming Internet traffic, providing an extra layer of protection for the rest of the network, and sending all incoming data to a particular IP address.
If you want to ebable the DMZ feature of your mobile hotspot Netgear Nighthawk M1 please follow the steps to enable the DMZ and designate a computer to screen incoming traffic.
1. From a computer that is connected to your Nighthawk M1’s network, launch a web browser.
2. Enter m.home or 192.168.1.1.
A login page displays.
3. Enter the administrator login password.
4. Select SETTINGS > Advanced > Other. The Other page displays.
5. Select the Enable check box.
6. In the DMZ Address field, enter the IP address of the computer to which you want all data sent.
If the mobile router is tethered using a USB cable, this address is 192.168.1.4. If the mobile router is connected using WiFi, the first WiFi client’s IP address is usually 192.168.1.74.
7. Click the Apply button.
Your settings are saved.
DMZ servers pose a security risk. A computer designated as the default DMZ server loses much of the protection of the firewall and is exposed to exploits from the Internet. I have been searching endlessly if it is possible to change TTL on the Netgear Nighthawk M1 like the Mofi4500 router. I’ve only seen the option of connecting an Asus router that allows you to change the TTL on the Asus router but is it possible to do it on the Netgear Nighthawk M1 router itself? If so could you please explain. I don’t think anyone has figured that out yet.
Thanks for reaching out, unfortunately we need the admin password in order to modify the program, for now only using your Asus router, I'm on the same situation ;)
No, you can't.. You can get any router that supports ddwrt, flash it, and then run the command thru there
The only problem you may get is, for some reason, some routers wont connect to the M1 unless they are on the same subnet... So creates double NAT
Some routers have no issue
And for whatever reason, I have the R7000 and I couldn't configure it on another subnet, then I managed to do it, and one day it stopped working... No idea
Hello, thanks for the sharing. I am able to add 9 selections to my unit, however I want to add a different one now. Do I need to delete a existing one be able to add the new one? If so I can't seem to do that with the > AT!BAND=,"",0,0 input. I want to add band 12 for att but just keep getting a error. Not sure if its because I have the wrong band 12 numbers (> AT!BAND=,"LTE B12",0,800) or maybe if its just because I need to delete one somehow? Many thanks

Good morning thank for reaching out, try to switch the sim card to another modem to see if give you the same error, if so, you need to change the sim but if the sim works fine them check for the apn settings. If the m1 still have the issue you may need to change or fix the IMEI number ;)

Not sure, i'm working on that, to combine a couple bands on one command that option is for Carrier Aggregation!. This commands on the video is for to lock a specific band.

Hello brother , i am using mr1100 eu unlocked version and currently i am using cricket wireless on my nighthawk but its only coming H+ not able to connect to lte , i have followed all instructions from your video but not able to get the bands manually on my router admin account its only showing auto, wcdma all and lte all . As cricket wireless is mvno of att so i have added b2,b5 bands and i can see in putty the bands i have added its showing there when i command AT!BAND=?
Am i doing something wrong?
Good night buddy, thanks for reaching out, it should be the same as the us version unless they use a different modem inside... for the bands, after you add the desired band in the putty terminal, login on your netgear home page www.routerlogin.net/index.html and reboot the modem, them it should show the bands, let me know if that work for you... if you select LTE All and still have the H+ it's probably that your nighthawk is using a different modem inside (chip) that is not recognizing the US Lte bands..
I have a same problem here. I'm using a telstra Netgear Nighthawk M1. I have added the bands I needed but it is not working. EMM state: deregistered on the AT!GSTATUS?. I bought it on ebay then it was working for 2 years then suddenly, I only get H+ or 3G. Hope you could help me.

Can someone help me choosing the right port number. Everytime I try to establish connection it times out.
I had added bands last year and went to add some more. I did everything right like last time but am also timing out. Maybe they patched this workaround with the new update to the systems? I'm pretty stumped...
hey once you do a tether and enable IP passthrough, you need to get the default gateway and use that for the host name in putty. Do "ipconfig" in cmd and it will give it to you. Also make sure you have Other : Telnet selected NOT SSH. Port is 5510

@@mdcartstudio9447 I have found a solution. Your instructions are ok just that it's necessary to leave a space after the AT. e.g. AT !GSTATUS?. It will only allow 5 bands from 00 to 04.

do you have battery removed and just using USB power for 24/7 home use? Heard a lot of people reporting that their nighthawk resets due to this issue. read the fix is a better USB power adapter, with slightly higher amp.

I have an unlocked M1 I'm using with an grandfathered AT&T unlimited plan. My speeds are amazingly fast however I'm experiencing an issue where every 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours my M1 stops providing service to any device that is NOT connected to a VPN. Do you know how to fix this issue?
Hi there, thanks for reaching out, i think your m1 is trying to reconnect to different towers, try to lock a specific band to see if the problem continues... on my case i use either Band 14 or 30, in my setup i have my m1 without the battery connected to my asus router all the time. I locked the band and tested again. But it still stopped serving internet to my connected devices after 1 hour and 49 minutes. Also, I didn't have this issue until I factory reset my M1 a couple of weeks ago. Before the reset I had zero issues. I contacted NETGEAR and they provide a replacement device but the new/refurbished unit they sent is having the exact same issue as my original. Both units are running the same firmware (newest).
@@TooReal512 try factory reset again but add only the bands that you use the most 2 or 3 lines only .. that's so rare! check your settings for either Wifi Standby or Ethernet Standby.. Disable it

So I actually did that when I did the initial band lock. I only added band 66 and band 30 as individual bands. So currently I'm on 66 and it's very fast but it still ended up having the issue.
I've been seeing this off and on for the last couple of months... I eventually found an AT&T forum post that speculated it is due to a problem with the transparent proxy AT&T uses behind the scenes for port 80/443 (http/https) traffic. The poster was unable to get AT&T to do anything to resolve it, and ended up changing providers. That's not really an option for me, though.
After some tower outages at my location a few weeks ago, my M1 now connects some of the time to a very weak signal on band 2, causing slowdowns and errors. I had to switch the band to "WCDMA All" to get reliable connectivity, at less than half the speed I was getting on LTE band 12. I found, however, that I no longer had the problem of port 80/443 going dead, where it used to happen once or twice a day.
I've since started playing with band locking and custom carrier aggregation as shown in this video. If I lock it to band 12, I get decent speeds, and so far I'm not seeing the port 80/443 problem. Perhaps the M1 was losing connection to the proxy as it was switching bands around, so locking it on WCDMA or just LTE Band 12 avoids it. I could be wrong, though, since you said that band-locking didn't help in your case.
Things are looking pretty good now, but I'm experimenting with locations, antennas, and CA bands to try to maximize throughput while keeping a reliable connection.
So you can use T-Mobile towers on the nighthawk if you already have an unlimited att plan?

Hey my netgear night hawk was working for a year. After the hurricane hit us, my night hawk is telling me data connection is disconnected. But I went into my profile and its telling me I still have 33 days til the next cycle. And I just have it prepaid 7 days ago. Do you think its my Sims card that is broken? Can you help?

@@mdcartstudio9447 ok Im trying another sim card, but is there anyway I can use the same IMEI for the new sim's card taking it from my old sim card that had the unlimited data on it, because i try to use new generated IMEI number to make a new total account but they are no longer showing unlimited data just the 35 gb monthly recurring.
If it's an at&t sim card for a tablet they are cracking down and disabling the cards. If you call they might reactivate it but your mobile router has to look like a tablet.

Hi Ben! Gypsy wireless uses the same at&t network, you will be able to use same at&t bands, to add the desired bands follow the instructions on the video, the benefit of locking a specific band is for better speed and avoid getting throttled ;)

@@baylieerae589 My pleasure, try to add only 5 bands i have 7 row of bands now but the lower you go the safe ;)... Don't factory reset this will erase the band selection.

Try first the reset button.... if not try to force the firmware...
1. Download AC78x Netgear drivers version 4.3.00 and install them on PC. Also, download FDT.EXE version 4.6.2.0.
2. Download MR1100 firmware (12.06.11.00 or 12.05.05.00). Put it in the same folder as FDT.EXE. Hopefully you have the generic US version of the MR1100 and not an AT&T branded version as using these firmwares on an AT&T MR1100 will permanently disable features like LAA.
3. Download and install Putty or just enable telnet in Windows (Turn Windows Features On or Off > Telnet Client).
4. Disconnect PC from Wifi and Ethernet. Your computer should have no internet connections.
5. Remove the SIM card and ethernet cable from the MR1100.
6. Factory reset the MR1100.
7. Connect the MR1100 to the PC via USB.
8. Try to connect to the MR1100 via Putty or Telnet. The IP is 192.168.1.1 with port 5510. If using telnet, the command is telnet 192.168.1.1 5510
9. Once connection is established, you may have to act quickly to halt the boot. The command is AT!BOOTHOLD
10. Open a command prompt and browse to the folder with FDT.EXE and the .SPK firmware file. Type the command fdt {firmwarefilename}.secc.spk
11. Let it do its thing. Even if there is an error that says the upgrade failed, wait 15 minutes. Eventually, it will reboot itself.
@@mdcartstudio9447 do you think putty will still detect it when it's bricked "QUSB-BULK" when I install the qualcomm drivers then it displays "HD-USB QDLoader" because it was stuck on boot logo I heated the Nand chip and it worked for a while then repeated the same so I desoldered the nand chip and I reballed and reflowed it back but ever since that it got bricked appears as "QUSB_BULK" in the device manager on PC

How do I add the bands if my selection in the menu is 1st = *All Bands* 2nd = *LTE Only* 3rd = *4G Only* 4th = *4G and LTE Only* 5th = *2G Only* ? Good Evening, thanks for reaching out, could you please be more specific?. When the blue screen is on it should show the WiFi Information, make sure you are connected to the router and them type 192.168.1.1 and login. You can also connect to the M1 using a usb cable if the tethering mode is on.
@@mdcartstudio9447 I had the same problem as OneCake added the B12 band and when I rebooted my hotspot only displayed a blue screen the wifi and internet still worked but i couldnt access the wifimanger anymore so eventually I just factory reset it since it was causing me problems.

MDC ART STUDIO since resetting my hotspot and trying again everything works now so I’m not sure what happened but I guess if anyone has the same problem just factory reset with the button inside the back of the device.
I have Nomad internet service which uses ATT towers here in US. Will this still work? And would I still select "T-mobile"?? I only ask because it seems you are using ATT in the video, but select T-Mobile Settings. Thanks
when I try to add - AT!BAND=14,"LTE B66",0,2 - I get "ERROR" in putty
And most of the towers near me are Band 66...
great... now I think it bricked my router.... when i closed putty, and told it to "reboot" in the setting screen, on the routers LCD screen it showed "NETGEAR" then a loading icon... now its just a blank purple screen and doesn't do anything. After a while, i unplugged it, pulled the battery, and reinstalled it. Turned it back on... same thing. I even tried the "RESET" button, no difference.... great... just great... now i have no home internet... all i got left is my crappy phone...
Ok... FINALLY got my router back up. Had to do a factory reset, which didn't work the first couple times. But finally it came back up, Thankfully! So FYI for those who this happens too, leave the battery in, use a paperclip and hold the reset button 30 sec. If that doesn't work, remove battery and plug it into power, use paperclip hold reset button for 30sec. When it does work, the M1100 will restart and eventually you will see the original load screen. I really thought I bricked it somehow for a good bit. Even had to call Netgear tech support and talked to like 3 or 4 different people. In any case, it finally worked.
Anyway, while it was still at factory reset, I went ahead and tried the band lock again _(no reason to go through all my wifi settings and ect if it screwed up again)_ After which I figured out why _(in my case at least)_ it wouldn't accept Band 66, as I stated in my original post above. Which I needed band 66, as it was the tower frequency I was wanting to connect to.
Like I stated in my original message, when I typed into Putty:
*AT!BAND=14,"LTE B66",0,2*
It showed "Error".
I looked around online, tried a few different things where other people also had problems getting "error" for Band 66. But none of them worked for me.
Then I figured I would try something. I know here in the US at least, the Nighthawk M1100 will only allow up to 9 bands (i think it was...) which include the original two default of "WCDMA ALL" and "LTE ALL". I only wanted to add 4 in my case.
I also finally understood that in the commands he showed in this video, the first number is not the band but rather just the line number that it appears in the drop down list in the router settings. Which in his example is Line 14 - AT!BAND=14,"LTE B66",0,2
So with this in mind, and with thinking about the M1100 not allowing more than 9 bands listed. I changed the 14 to a number =
@@Yhrim70 Awesome diagnosis. I wasn’t getting an error in putty like you were but when I rebooted the M1 after adding the bands it came back a blank screen. I only added the one band I could use that was under line 10 like you’ve said and it worked perfectly. I’m not exactly sure how you edited the line part but luckily band 2 is on line 4 so I’m sticking with that.

Unfortunately no, AT&T model only supports B1/2/3/4/5/7/12/14/29/30/46/66... and the 71 is for 600 MHz Band 4G/5G

So I just followed this video instructions on my M1 and.. it bricked. It lights up the screen but no words. Reset not working, viewers beware.
This will not brick the m1 as you are not doing anything to the firmware, I have done over 26 m1 and not issues at all... do hard reset to the m1

I agree but after watching and now having a better idea, I’ve used putty before hacking old Apple TV’s and stuff but I’m confused on what bands to lock and will it increase my speeds T-mobile hotspot is only getting like 5-6 download and I just got the service and have a nighthawk M1 so maybe band locking would help boost it up

@@reynoldswrap26 not really i bought some credits and used a program to add all kinds of channels and crap but it didn’t benefit me at all and then i had to reset it and lost them all and they wanted to charge me again to redownload it so i shut it off and added a line on my Verizon account and just use the hotspot i got through them. Don’t even know where I put that darn netgear router now that I’m thinking about it! 🤦♂️😂
