      It kinda makes sense that someone who used to own a suburban would watch shows and videos where you might see such vehicles. That's fun though. I often wonder if the old owners of these project vehicles you see on TV ever see them. Pretty cool.

      Having that truck taught me how to work on not only GM vehicles but it taught me how to properly keep an offroad/daily alive.
      I replaced the rear end in that truck with my friends, had the transmission rebuilt by a local shop and installed professionally after failing to get a decent transmission from the junkyard.
      That truck has so many awesome stories and memories made in it.
      Miss it every day.

And Brandon seems like a youtuber, very modern and feels much less scripted and just know what they are talking about, give them more freedom as they will get more relaxed. I had a 91' Blue/White burban, 6" on 35s and rebuilt the engine stroked it 388 ci. Twisted a few driveshafts, which snaps off the transfer case output. I drove back home from Silver Lake Sand Dunes with the front wheels. Also got towed back from Silver Lake because I forgot the 700R4 input shaft seal retainer clip, ya that is NOT optional, blew the seal out dragging a dead Jeep in the sand. All good times, she rusted out and had to let her go.

Car one fell upside down and landed hard on the roof, bending the passenger side down. Car two fell and broke the driver’s mirror off. A two square foot piece of cardboard is a flimsy thing, glue it up in three-dimensions & it then becomes a vastly stronger thing. Build essentially a second ladder-frame extending a foot lower than the factory frame, use the 'second frame' as a point to build armor panels to protect all those vulnerable parts like...I dunno, that prop-shaft hanging down in the breeze?

    The GM 10-bolts get a bad rap when in actuality, they're easily the equal of the Dana 44. Not really what you want for big tires on a Suburban, but they will surprise you. A really good option if you're looking at a lighter vehicle and want bigger tires and lots of aftermarket choices.
    The big GM 10-bolts mind you, not the crappy small ones that went in the S-trucks, Astro vans, Camaros, etc.
    Sad to hear they're keeping the SBC though. Really needs a diesel. Even if you wanted unbreakable on a budget, you can have a GM 6.5 that will bolt right up to either that 700R4 after a beefy rebuild, or just grab a Turbo-400 or 4L80E. Big block torque, decent fuel mileage and that engine will run for 500k miles if you don't go crazy with boost pressure.
    Or if you're rebuilding it anyway, get a set of 18:1 pistons, an intercooler setup and a mechanical marine injection pump. It will give you all the fuel you need for higher boost and more power while still being able to stay in safe limits.

    @larryhutchens7593 3 роки тому

    I don't normally comment on you guys stuff but I gotta to this one. You off road guys provide me with a load of laughs, unbreakable?? Nothing is unbreakable. You take the vehicle off road an something breaks so you beef up the broken part (or system) then the next weaker thing in the chain breaks so then you beef up that. Then the next weaker item breaks & you beef up that, then the next weaker thing breaks, then...... and on and on. Eventually the first broken item is now the weakest thing & it breaks & the cycle starts all over. I have witnessed this first hand so don't deny that it happens. I find it extremely entertaining so knock yer selves out.

    Tires are way too skinny and small. But I’ve been a fan of this body style every since I was born. Awesome show guys I’m a big fan! This is a dream build of mine.

    One of these shows need to have a challenge
    The 5k challenge
    You only have 5k to both get a car and fix it up making it a show ready car under a budget of 5k
    It’s not the most difficult challenge but for them it always seems they spend so much money, so this will be a cool challenge that honestly a lot of car builders can do within reason

    love the old 87-91 R/V series suburban,owned quite a few only things i dont like are the 90'91 electronic speedos in order for it to work you need an adjustable drac unit so it can be adjusted and compensated for a lift and bigger tires and diffrent gears,If you own an 90/91 convert it to the 89 mechanical speedo with a cable you will thank me later

  • @2vcrew782
    @2vcrew782 3 роки тому

    I can tell you my 1999 Suburban LT that I still absolutely love is absolutely breakable. The stupid electronic 4wd is always not working. And if it decides to work than a brake line will obviously start leaking.

    Its so much like my 71 Travelall its insane, i too am goin for ultimate reliability. Instead of 1tons im runnin JT Sport axles/susp. Max tire size will be 35s. Not sure on engine/trans yet, im torn not just between big block or small block but ford or chevy. The trans will be an eod auto, so either the 4l80e or e4od.
