So, you have done it again. Tutorial on pre-planning, wiring connections (only thing better is soldeing the wires but much slower and probably no better connection), did not know that those connectors have heat shrink on them, labeling, and oh so much more!!! That trailer is going to be quite the rig!!! Hope you shoulder is holding up!!! Be well, be safe, be Blessed!!! Thanks so much for what you do and are doing and will do!!!
Looking good , i will tell you Brandon the led lights you picked are 10x better than those square looking tabs. Thanks for keeping me in the loop. I figure you’ve been busier than a one arm paper hanger…cant wait to see how it looks!
Hahahahaha the only other person I've ever heard say busier than a one armed paper hanger is my dad. This just made me chuckle. He passed in 2011. For those that don't know, installing wall paper is called "hanging". It requires skill and the use of both hands. Having just one hand would keep him busy. Thanks for this Chris, and I agree I love the look. I'm only wondering if I should have gone with a whiter color, but overall I love the simple clean look.
@@BrandonLund i like how you did the harness. I was thinking about how i did the police harnesses for the light bar. We made connectors you can make to plug into each other, you make pins and push them into each other.sorta like the trailer hitches….but it makes for much more difficult. I think you did a great job.} did you put the lights with an inline fuse? That would keep anything from burning up.. i might have put the wires in a wire loom….just reduces fraying..then you could attach em. Just a suggestion since i noticed you are very thoughtful about what you expect. Im glad i could make you laugh a bit. My great grandmother would say pie lickin jobs are over..get off your rocker and get to work. She was from novia scotia and farm gal….she always had a nice way of telling people where to get going..my dad died 2 years ago.
I actuually put most everything in wire loom and put inline fuses on everything. I will show this in detail in an upcoing episode. It's almost done and I cant wait to finish it.
I look forward to seeing the end result, im still trying to get my electrician to come wire up my 220 wire and getting impatient….im almost, almost ready to try it for myself . Only think stopping me is how long the run is from my Box😁
Thanks Chis! Years ago I had a 6x12 wells cargo. Towed it almost daily for 8 years. This one is 7x16 all aluminum and tows like nothing is there. This is my first ever all aluminum trailer and first time ever towing one. If your budget allows, the aluminum is the way to go. Saves on gas, tows awesome and in our climate with rust from snow and salt it's almost a must. Problem is the prices are nuts for these things.
Getting the wiring done is the best feeling! I love the labeling everything idea!! I can see you are very proud of this project. You have done a great job! Thanks for the videos Brandon!
LED lighting is a new thing for all of us to learn. Lots of options that we never had before.. . The number is the color,, WARM (kinda yellowish) is in the 3000 range, NATURAL is in the 4000 to 5000 range, COOL (very white) is in the high 5000 to 7000 range. Take a look at a Kelvin Color Temperature Scale chart... Some of the newer, fancy (expensive) units are switchable so you can pick and change as you see fit.. I bought the cheap ones on EBay that are sold as 120v AC and just didn't use the drivers that came with them.. Sometimes they act funny so there was a learning curve with those too.. There are also mini 12/24v flood lights that work really well.....
@@donnarohrer4435 I have done a lot of work with low-volt lighting.. Let me know if you need any help with your project. There are hundreds of options no one knows about...
For sure. Definitely peace of mind. Especially when everything is getting buried now. Be a shame to rip everything apart to fix one of those foolish scotch locks.
Hey Brandon, great job man and great video's, I see this one and the other from last week. I like the interior, nice white clean walls, nice lights ( with warm white is nothing wrong but that's my opinion). I find the connections of the lights also a good idea. The hole trailer looks awesome and it gets only better, my regards and have a nice weekend with you family, see you next week.
That's awesome Brandon! I did the opposite, did welding right out of high school, then went back to school and an apprenticeship for a 309A C&M license 😂 and now I'm back working as a welder (never really stopped, did welding as a side gig for years).
Huh that's funny. The odd thing is ever since I was 5 I wanted to be an electrician, then once I got it, I got bored. I started in residential and that was like pumping out widgets 24/7 then we started doing industrial work but it was too slow paced. I got to keep moving. I can't do the same thing over and over for very long. If I can't use my brain and hands together, I get bored really quick. After that is when I got into welding full time. I actually did HDPE pipelines for a bunch of years and owned a bunch of machines but metal work has always been a big part of my life. When I was 17 I built what I called a bed extender. I tried to get a lawyer and patent it but at 17 I was broke and we didnt have internet so i couldnt figure out on my own what i needed to do instead of paying someone to tell me. Someone actually went on to build and market my idea. Go figure lol
@Brandon Lund I hear that! Residential electrical (all low voltage really) wasn't my cup of tea either. I've always been good at troubleshooting, having a puzzle to figure out while working with my hands. That sucks about the bed extender, but look at you now, all the people you help with this channel, and the community that's been built is just awesome!
Good job Brandon, it's about done and looking great!!! Looks like you've covered everything you need in the trailer including the backup cameras. Looking forward to seeing it in operation. Make a wiring diagram of what all you've done incase you sell the trailer so the next person has a chance for repairs, not everyone thinks alike when it comes to wiring 🤗. Fred.
Great job; I agree that those Scotch Locks are crap; I removed all from my trailer like you did. I also ran all my grounds back to the battery terminal junction instead of trusting the trailer as a cage ground. I also ran a wire for a future review camera when I added a cargo loading light.
Looking good! The warm white should be plenty bright as close as they are, with everything white inside you might have gotten too much glare from the bright white. Running the extra wires with labels is the best way to go, makes things so much easier and faster for future hookups. Great job!
That was my exact thinking too Bob when deciding to go with the warm white vs bright white. I didn't want the glare. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
Brandon what a very professional job, scotch locks great to get you home in an emergency but rip them back out as soon as possible You will be the man when your out with your bikes especially when you have the equipment to weld because I’ve know folks who of had to pack and go home for the sake of someone with a welder You will have to be careful what you say to the wife or it could become your temporary base 😂 stay safe big lad 👍👨🏻🏭🇬🇧
Thanks Paul I appreciate it. Funny you mentioned that. I've currently got a buddy heater plugged in for 3 days trying to prep for flooring (can't wait for that electric bill) and asked her if she wanted to sleep in the trailer. Her reply "you can. I'm sleeping in my comfortable bed" lol.
Awesome job. Those lights are amazing. Quick question though, why don’t you have to bring the neutral wire back to the battery? Is it the same as “grounding” it to the aluminum?
I have the battery grounded to the frame of the trailer and the light is also grounded to the aluminum, so the trailer is making it's own path to ground.
Thanks Brandon. I can't find how you did the aluminum transition from the ceiling to the wall. That looks great. I am doing almost the exact project. I would love to know where you got them or how you made them?
Thanks Dave! Those trim pieces were actually on the trailer from the factory, they were just mounted about an inch lower. The factory used them to hide the wires that run from the front to the back of the trailer. You could duplicate them pretty easy if you went to a vinyl siding place they could probably make these for you pretty easily. I would say the face is about 4 inches wide and the mounting flange is just a 45 degree bend on each end about 3/4 long.
Looks great. I'm not a fan of warm lighting because it's not bright enough. Gives everything an antique look. If you increase the voltage a little (a boost buck) you will be able to increase the brightness of those lights. Then add a dimmer switch to control the level of power running to the lights. The lights would possibly shorten the life of the lights (that's what the dimmer is for, not running full power constantly) but then give you a reason to replace with the bright white when they burn out. You probably know all this because you were an electrician.
Going into this I was worried that a whiter light would be too much glare in this all white space but looking at it now I probably would have been ok. It looks cozy for sure at night.
Well I can’t crow too loud, I’m waiting for my eldest to bring his car round so I can fix some temporary crimped joints after we fixed his headlights a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn’t find ANY of my soldering irons. All in one day of looking I found all 6, 3 Wellers, 2 gas and a baby scope. I know what you’re gunna say, “6 soldering irons! Wow!” Nah, kept misplacing them so would buy another to replace it, 😂😂😂. The gas ones are brilliant because I used to use the blow torch for main earth connections and they had heat gun attachments for delicate heat needed for heatshrink, 😇.
I recon those shrink connectors with solder in are a great invention, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Absolutely and same to you and yours 👍🙏

You might try Aleve. Works for me!

I love the look of those lights. I have been contemplating doing a camping trailer "conversion". This gives me some solid ideas.
Thanks Jon. I'm wishing they were a little brighter. I've ordered some 6400 in the same design to see if they are any brighter
Looking sweet Brandon. I might need to upgrade to an enclosed trailer for my dirt bike. Inspirational!!!!

The trim around the ceiling was originally installed within the trailer from the factory and the trim around the bench was from Lowes
