If u buy any bagged dirt. Be careful because most of it now is just wood substrate. When i was younger, dirt was dirt but now its wood. Every bagged dirt that ive purchased was wood chips.
You and Tuck are doing a great job. I've had the best success with purple cabbage in NJ. I really like the hinged hoop house idea that you can change the cover and move it off the entire bed and just put it right back. Give Tuck scratches behind the ears for me.
Love seeing Tuck in the videos! 💜 My dog was my food forest companion until she passed about four weeks ago. I’m heartbroken, but it cheers me up immensely to watch Tuck supervise you in your food forest!
Good timing, great heads! My cabbage was a bust last year. I started my seedlings too late and we had a bad winter, so they languished and failed. I think I’ll start some brassicas this weekend 🤔
James thanks to you I have taken my front yard and turned it into a full garden!!! Just finished transplanting my pumpkins for October but everything else is in full swing right now so thank you my friend for giving me the inspiration to do something positive! And of course forever tuck!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
i grew cabbages here in uk last year for first time. had no idea what i was doing.. they grew huge but never really made a head worth harvesting. figured i wouldnt bother again.. but this has inspired me to give them another go
Just found you on UA-cam, love your enthusiasm! Will be binge watching your videos and learning all I can. Tuck is adorable, little veggie eating darling.
I love the work you are doing. Thanks so much for the teaching videos... Tuck is the best ever. I had a Yorkie for 10 years before I went to college. Keep up the good work
James thanks for the inspiration! I just got germination from my Red Express cabbages. I can't wait to see them become big and beautiful heads of cabbage!
Sorry you had a rough year, me and Tuck wish we could give you a hug but don't quit and let the bugs win. Stick with it and you will get big harvests in the future, next year you will know what bugs are coming and how to prevent them and how to manage them if they do get into your garden. It's worth it in the end 🐕❤️
Because of you and Tuck I tried cabbage again this year. I grew the Early Jersey Wakefield. I'm in central coastal Jersey so I figured if you were so successful I could be too. I was! Huge, tight heads! Thank you both so much! I also put in my first apple trees, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. You are so inspiring. I keep saying James is probably close, same style house, similar yard as me. If he can do it so can I. Finally ❤❤❤s for Tuck!
I've never grown cabbage before. I never really like cabbage much, and I've always had trouble with groundhogs and my brassicas. Plus they are such a space hog. But my garden keeps expanding, my fence is somewhat more secure, and I've gotten into saurkraut this year, so I'm trying to grow some fall cabbages. I loved to see all of the different varieties you have.
Thank you for the tips on cabbage! This is my first season growing and I’m about to pull everything out to feed to my chickens, goats and family. I built a bed just for cabbage and broccoli in the spring. Except for the pest, it’s been great. I’m growing again for the autumn garden (less pests hopefully) because both brassicas are cold hardy.
I'm excited to see this. Sometimes I don't plant cabbages because I hate picking off the cabbage butterly larvae and looking for their eggs daily. I try to use as little organic natural sprays as much as possible. But some years it turns into a full time job taking them off!
Wow! 🥬🥦🥒🍆🫑🌽🧄🧅 I wish I can have you come over next Spring and get us started on our vegetable garden! 😲😅 We just moved to North Carolina from California and have a big backyard. 🥵 Great job and love seeing your fur baby eat veggies! Great example for our young ones today. 😋
Wow James, you and Tuck are putting the knowledge out there. If someone cant grow monster cabbages like yours then they are not paying attention and listening to you. I bought an organic lettuce the size of a grapefruit, boy was I wishing for garden like yours. You two are on a roll, keep up the great work. 👍💯👨🌾🐶💜🤍💙💚💛🧡❤️💕💜🤍💙💚💛🧡❤️💕💜🤍💙💚💛🧡❤️💕👨🌾🐶👍💯
Guess I'm going to have to wait on starting my cabbages....we are still getting 100 plus days here in North Texas at least for a couple more weeks! REALLY looking forward to Fall
My growing zone is little different than yours but your energy is refreshing. I’ve watched many of your videos and you make me wanna grow something here in hot desert rocks. Yap. Been here in Las Vegas rock mountain for a year now. Oh and then they put decorative red granite rocks to cover the ugly white rocks. Currently making my own compost for the first time and it’s on and off. Sometimes it smells woody and other times it smells like poop. Too much water I believe. But I’m learning how to mend it. I probably have to build a garden bed on top of granite gravel. If you have any tips I would love your comments. Thanks
I have absolutely enjoyed watching your growing guide videos for the past several years. You have been a true inspiration and teacher for me. How are you able to preserve all of your fabulous bounty? If you could add some preservation education, that would be amazing. Thank you for all that you and Tuck do!
Just ordered the BT, thanks for the suggestion. I gave up on my kale because of the worms and was dreading even trying cabbage this fall. Wish me beautiful heads of cabbage and gobs of sauerkraut at the end of fall!
Thank you so much for opening you gardening experience. I definitely enjoy your videos and I learn a lot from them. I am a new gardener and I love absorbing all the experience and tidbits shared. I have many questions but I will keep watching yours and many others videos where I’m sure I’ll get my answers to my questions.
This summer was a bust for vegetables, the weather was soooo uncooperative early on with torrential rain, excessive winds, cold nights, then thrown into heat waves one after another. The plants just didn't know what to do, so they shut down and waited for further instructions. I'll be lucky to harvest tomatoes by October for canning😞 So, on to what could be much more lucrative and almost guaranteed, cool weather crops. I'm attempting 2 cabbages and 4 Brussels, beets, turnips, carrots and kale.. If the weather stays warm I will harvest my summer crops...if it turns cool I will harvest my fall crops. I. Will. Prevail.👊👊👊
I’ve been waiting for this. My early cabbage got attacked by the cabbage butterfly. I will try your suggestions for a late summer crop. I’m just south of you in Maryland!
James could you please repeat those varieties of cabbages that are your favorites I know you have to speak really fast on these videos so thank you so much I'm in Southwest Florida so my weather here is a little different I'll start planning seeds for cabbage in late August thank you I really enjoy your Channel and Tuck is my favorite
I just bought a house on an acre in CT. It's pretty wooded, but can't wait to start my garden next year! I want to grow berries too. I have a few potted plants, tomatoes and squash that aren't doing too well.
My cabbages were decimated this year by cabbage worms. These tips on her are great thank you. Any suggestions on protecting plants in triple-digit temperatures every day? It is supposed to be 112 for the next 4 days. I have shade clothes over all the beds, and I make they are well watered.
How often do you fertilize your food forest? Is there enough content to make a video about it. I have vermicompost and like to make comfrey tea but I worry its not enought for my plants to get what they need.
Another great video, growmie! :) Hey, I got the shits yesterday. My girlfiend is wearing the tank and sent me a pic while I'm here at work! Outstanding! We LOVE them!
I had pretty much given up on cabbage. I have tried to grow napa cabbage and although it's a strong germinator and grows fast; it was always full of holes and half bitten off. I'm going to save this video and try again soon.
I really admire the energy this guy has. I love these videos of his gardening ideas
Finally just bought a house here in Jersey my daughter and I will be planting fruit trees in the fall and have a food forest start by fall as well
Let's Gooo!!! Congratulations on the house Justin!
If u buy any bagged dirt. Be careful because most of it now is just wood substrate. When i was younger, dirt was dirt but now its wood. Every bagged dirt that ive purchased was wood chips.
Congrats🍾🥂
That's so swesome

Early Jersey Wakefield - yes #1 choice to grow. Bt= the only way to have cabbage family crops thrive. Also use Bt on corn silks to prevent corn worms.
You and Tuck are doing a great job. I've had the best success with purple cabbage in NJ.
I really like the hinged hoop house idea that you can change the cover and move it off the entire bed and just put it right back.

Wife and I have learned so so much from this guy! What a great influence and wonderful channel! Thank you, James Prigioni!
Love seeing Tuck in the videos! 💜 My dog was my food forest companion until she passed about four weeks ago. I’m heartbroken, but it cheers me up immensely to watch Tuck supervise you in your food forest!
Sad to hear of your loss.

Hi James and Tuck i enjoyed watching today ✨🧡💚💛❤️💕
I am ready to cry. I worked so hard just to have the heat. bugs destroy my garden. All your advice has been helpful.

@@jamesprigioni I had the same experience as Kim! When my plants were tiny, bugs ruined them. This is a great video. Next year, I will have cabbage!
