Good video. We have an eero system with our fiber optical provider. I will look into a 10G eero addon with our NAS to see if I can get higher than our provider speeds within our local network.
I appreciate you making this video. Can you make one with the same router but showing how to best take advantage of the interface gaming options ? Is that possible ? Thanks😅
nice video!
i got beta FW for my be98Pro that have MLO option in the web app.
with MLO the speed can be even higher!!
Thanks! I believe it, maybe I can get my hands on the 98 Pro in the future and try it out
I think a ASUS mesh WiFi 7 vs this router and then this router x2 or 3 in ai mesh config would be a flipping amazing video
Awesome review. I got 2 of them in Mesh.
Awesome! I’m sure the backhaul performance is great based on the speed rating
@@landpet The advertised provider speed is 1 Gbps down and 40 Mbps up. The Ethernet speed via the main router is 990 Mbps down and 40 Mbps up. The speed on the first floor via Wi-Fi 7 is 950 Mbps down and 40 Mbps up. The speed on the second floor via the second router is 920 Mbps down and 40 Mbps up. The routers are connected via wireless backhaul. These are excellent results, with almost no loss compared to the Ethernet connection from the main router. I am eagerly anticipating the day when my provider will offer speeds closer to yours. I recall the days in the 1990s when I was connected to the internet via a dial-up ZyXEL modem. We have come a long way since then.
My RT68u (mesh-wired backhaul) just lost it's radios, so I just got 2 be96u's and want to do the same wired backhaul. I'd love to know if it makes sense to use the 10GE LAN port on main and 10GE WAN on the mesh node. Pointers appreciated.
@@DurrBusDriver I'm using it via wireless backhaul.
Thank you for the fantastic video!
No problem
Loved this video and it was great! I appreciate all of your reviews and they have been a phenomical help for me in my review.... On a side note I've heard some very mixed items on range and speeds for connectivity on this router and its comparable big brother the GT-BE98U. I'm evaluating updating form a WIFI 6 router from ASUS GT-AX110000 to WIFI 7 (the bigger brother a mentioned GT-BE98 Pro) but on the fence for Cost and the "hearings" of poor reception and range. I'm trying to take this with a grain of salt but hav you done any comparison of this with the EERO 7 MAX which is also on my plate for review due to the MESH for better coverage but like this one better due to the features and less need for "subscriptions".. Any thoughts or pointers for me to further reference before proceeding?
Thanks!
I finished testing the bigger brother GT-BE98 Pro. From my testing it has very good range. Video comes out this weekend.
General statement, 2 eero Max 7 would be better than one GT BE98 Pro in terms of coverage. But one GT BE98 PRO is better than one eero Max 7 for sure. You could also run the GT BE98 Pro in AiMesh if you get two.
Eero is great overall, their biggest drawback is minimal options and the need for subscription if you care about parental controls
Any idea when bq16pro would launch
Have firmware updates been released since wifi 7 has gotten the official certification? Have things like MLO been implemented?
Can you share that beta firmware for be98 pro please?
Which one is better this one or the TP Link BE85?
Can i configure separate lans per port like on an actual router or is tbis still home user level?
I've read something that was talking about wifi 7 not being a final spec. Is that the case? I keep watching your videos, and recently upgraded to a deco wifi 6e. should people like me be considering wifi7 yet?
They just finished final spec this year. But you don’t need wifi 7 unless you consistently upgrade your devices. Without wifi 7 devices there’s no need for it unless you want the switch ports
WiFi 7 was recently finalized. It’s up to you and your situation. WiFi 7 provides amazing wireless backhaul speeds even if you have no WiFi 7 devices. If you have WiFi 7 devices, you can expect really good speeds assuming you have fast internet speeds. Since it’s new tech, it is going to cost more now.
I have Wi-Fi 8 already. I'm two years ahead of the industry, I'm that Fantastic.
lol
I'm using WiFi 10 😂😂😂
I have the ax11000 good router but has range issues after I pass 4 walls from say 700 to 800 mbps to down to like 200 at 30 feet.
Hey. When are you going to review the ASUS ZenWiFi BQ16 Pro mesh system?
I don't have it yet, so can't say yet but it's definitely on my radar.
Would love to see a comparison between this and the GT-AXE16000. Just to see if its really worth it for the average person.
Unfortunately I don’t have the gt axe16000
Awesome !
Thanks!
Netgear Orbi RBK753 ( 3 pack ) or TP-Link XE75 (3 pack)?? Im on a 1Gbps and will be doing a Wireless Backhaul
XE75
what exactly is benefit of getting a expensive router like this right now, ? if there’s nothing yet whit wi fi 7 is just for the new phones whit wi fi 7 is that it ?
I have a TP-Link BE85 Wi-Fi 7 router and I have no WiFi 7 devices yet but the benefit is increase in range and speed with WiFi 7. The only downside is fall is the price. I am coming from a Eero 6e router and the BE85 has more range and faster in speeds.
Same with my pixel 8 pro. Slower speeds with Wi-Fi 7 vs 6E. Hopefully Google will address it in an update soon
That would be nice
If I purchased two of these or three for a large size property, can I connect all ethernet back Hall
Yes
I cant find a video about the GT-BE98 PRO vs RT-BE96U
I don’t have the BE98 Pro otherwise I would do a comparison. Maybe in the future I’ll get my hands on one, idk yet
Question.. of all routers tested.. wifi 7.. which one hit 5gbps in wireless and in lan? If none.. which one is the highest?
They kind of varied, some were faster with downloads and others were faster with uploads.
I would say Orbi 970 and Deco BE85 were the top two. Eero Max 7 had amazing wireless speeds but not amazing wired speeds which was surprising, I think that will get addressed with a firmware update but nothing yet or at least I haven’t checked in a couple weeks
@@landpet thanks for the reply. I have screenshoted your videos and tagged you on my video in my channel (not this account). And most of the device you tested only went up to 3k either local speed or internet speed. Which somewhat worries and hope that (given the wifi 7 has been certified this year) future wifi 7 certified routers be better.
Can’t decide nighthawk or this one . Coming from Asus raptor
@@blackscorpboth good, this one has more customization and parental controls, arguably a bit better.
How is this in relation to Orbi’s 970 ? Which ones better?
Both great, depends what you're looking for. Orbi is designed to run as a mesh granted it can run alone. This asus is designed to run alone but can run as a mesh. Both great, this asus has more options and features though
Question.. given that it has 10g wan.. but 6.0Ghz can go uo to 11Gbps.. its nothing right? Because WAN is only 10Gbps?
That’s not to a single device. The 11000 is theoretical throughput of the radio, to multiple connected devices, you’d never see that speed on a single device in real world use.
Correct
@@codyl1992 so their advertise of 10Gbps speed for wifi 7 is only for lan then? Not thw wifi speed..
You mean it is theoritical throughput for multiple device like a combined speed per device?
If thats the case.. most of the speed they put in their spec sheets and box are bull then? Which is sad
@@4givenoxygenbarez yep look at any WiFi product and they’re all advertised like that. AX3000 for example means a total of 3000 megabit theoretical throughput on all radios combined. Which in real world use wouldn’t actually be achievable.
@@codyl1992 yup thats why i creat videos to educate the masses about those shenanigans.. different acount tho not this one
Wish it had 8 Lan ports! My Linksys has 8 and I am using 7.
What Linksys router are you using?
How much do you pay for a 5Ghz(up and down) internet connection monthly?
155 for 5Gbps up and down
What speeds do you pay for?
5Gbps/5Gbps
Waiting on that new asus bte98- pro
If I can get my hands on one, I'm very curious about the performance
Holy cow that is on big spider looking thing
It's big
The “1gig ports” are 2.5gb ports no??? Thats what amazon says at least
Unless the usa has a different model
If it's 65w, why is it not usbc pd powered
I don't know
I have one and I agree with you is the best thing ever. Is not a loss of money is an investment 😊
It's great
I wonder if there is going to be a wifi 7e lol.
Idk, unless they come up with a new frequency band. Thats what wifi 6e was for the new 6GHz band cause wifi 6 was still on the 5GHz.
Can you do a wifi 7 range shootout?
I’m going to do a WiFi 7 comparison in the future once I get enough WiFi 7 routers. But my range tests will be limited to 100ft, they can all go further in my area but I’ve set the limit to 100 ft about 3 months ago moving forward.
I can confidently say this thing has great range though.
I am not seeing the 6ghz network with this thing.
Only WiFi 6E or WiFi 7 devices can see the 6GHz band
LOL I think the wife acceptance factor will not be as high as its performance
Interesting results, notice a slower ping and jitter at 100ft diagram @ 7:24, which is a little strange. But, for me the it's one ugly-looking device. It's a like a giant bug flipped on it back. Wifi-7 still as yet not 100% with all companies firmware updates and rectified firmware as yet are not all there. As you can tell the Pixel phone sucks at being really wifi-7 who's to say it's not even enabled. Never trust a device with a claim of a feature coming in an update that's just false promises. Neverless nice contents very clear. I think most people need to understand their needs if this latest and greatest is really market ready today.
too expensive...
Better than other wifi 7 options
Dissappointed its not quad band
GT-BE98 Pro is quad band

Asian developing countries sure like to wrap everything under plastic wrappings, like they didn't have issues with the plastic bags already.
I just can’t buy something that looks like this.
Sure looks are subjective
