This is my first car, purchased in 1998. Drove it in high school, drove it in college, and still driving it 237,000 miles later. Replaced belts and valve cover gaskets last year but that's been the only major repair. This car is highly recommended!
I drive this car and let me tell you, this is one of nicest cars you can get for a cheap price in 2017. If you're young or a student and in need of a cheap first or second car for all around use, I would recommend this.
R. Phoenix. REALLY!? No timing belt change? That's crazy I think I chose the right car. the owners told me they've done nothing with the time belt, so I didn't know whether or not I should even mess with it. when did you realize the suspension needed to be fixed?
Began dealing with a lot of motion in the steering wheel and it began getting rough when I would hit certain types of bumps and pot-holes. Other than that I've had no issues. Although the specific car I'm driving has been heavily used since 2000, wear and tear is minimal. Probably not something you'll have to worry about for a while, assuming it's maintained properly.
I love these toyota models! Then again, i love anything toyota makes! Their cars may not be all that fancy looking but the durability is outstanding. They last so long if taken care of.
@Bro NY I bought a 98 Honda Civic for 1200 instead. This was back in August. I paid 450 for a timing belt replacement (with pump and coolant too). It's been working great. If you find an old Avalon, it is worth the risk. Drive it till the wheels fall off while you save money on the side for something better. late 90s Toyotas and Hondas are tanks.
just bought one 167,000 only one owner drives lovley before that had toyota a avalon 2000 car was still running 270,000 i had to sell it because of childsupport i didn’t have money too keep it up but they very easy to maintain and they do last forever aslong as you take care of it
this was Toyota burning the fuck out of Ford and GM. they had the buck ford had the Lincoln. so Toyota is like well here we go a good dependable car with all the feathers and quality that type of person is looking for then brands.
@@jigsaw4379 The car was in my family from new. I remember trading our Cadillac for it. An absolute turd from day one, unless you like driving inflated tin cans.
@@Fayevalentina541 No I didn't. The car was bought new by my family and was given to me after many years. It was just a tin can piece of junk from new.

R. Phoenix. did you get a timing belt changed out for yours? I just got one for $1300 with 165,000 miles and have some questions
Ashok Sharma Nope, the car has been driven over 250,000 miles and only real issue I had was worn suspension.

@Bro NY You'll be fine in an Avalon. Not as big as a Buick LaCrosse but it's okay.
