My mom had covid and her oxygen dropped to the 70/s . She was rushed to the hospital immediately they had her at 7 liters she spent 2 weeks at the hospital and got discharged sending her home using only 1 liter. She spent a week and half with 1 liter at home with levels at 96-98. just recently a couple days ago doctor proved her to dropped it to just a half liter so her oxygen levels are at 90-93. She’s doing good we are so thankful it’s becoming where she doesn’t need it. My question is how long you may estimate her just getting off oxygen treatment. Now take note that every time she walk or does movement her levels drop but we never let it drop below a 89. If there is any tips anyone can give us too about the movement how often should she be moving? She also has a cough if there is any tips on controlling the post covid cough. Thank you and prayers go out to all of the ones struggling covid or any similar issues. God bless!
@@thedude9726 She's doing much better now thank you for asking. She's currently on no oxygen, once in a while she may use it at night during sleep, but thats rare now only when she wants a goodnight rest. Her Levels remain around 91-98 when she moves around about a street block, anymore her levels drop more and she needs to rest and her levels go back up and she continues. She's more independent before i was doing almost everything for her, now she's able to do a-lot for herself She was on oxygen regularly for close to 3 months then slowly she started to not use it, now she's never on it. As far as her hrct and abg im not sure. the doctor said her lungs sound good and theyre still recovering he gave us till summer till they are back to normal and her o2 level number will stay steady. Its been November so about near 6 months now. We got word from a few doctors opinion when we lower her oxygen to a half liter. they said they want to see lower numbers around 90-92 that way her lungs can kick it and start producing O2 without the machine, so thats what we did. You may want to ask your doctor about what levels should she stay at while resting, if shes on oxygen while resting and the number is at 96-98 thats a little high to be on all the time, and to see if by having maybe off oxygen to have lower number will help as long as she stays at 90-94 around there. thats what the docs told us to do. because being on oxygen for so many hours was something we were scared about having her lungs get used to something and they will never be running on their own. hope all this makes sense i typed it up really fast..
@@thedude9726 I appreciate that thanks it has been a journey for us on recovery. It did take 3 months to get off of oxygen but again during the first 3 month she was off and on again with it so hope that helps to understand. Now she’s completely off it that she only will use it when she feels like she’s restless and she needs to put it on, but she usually takes it off right away when she see her number being around 96 or higher.
Definitely keep up with the doctor, we had three doctors we kept up with on a biweekly period for the first 3 months. I know that can be tough for most to do but if you can manage to get advice from multiple then apply your own ways with him and see daily if he improves different do it. The movement helps, try to have him move and do things to where he doesn’t get too exhausted but with the COVID you have to push yourself everyday to get better and little by little you will notice the routine for him will be better. My mom pushed herself daily with activities rather washing dishes or folding clothes around the house where we notice everyday is better. Breathing exercises is a must too! The lungs get really lazy if he’s just sitting there or laying in bed. He has to try to push himself but be careful not to let the oxygen number drop below 80. My mom pushed at times by doing things and when she saw her number below 80’she stopped and tried to bring that number back up. We went through a lot of AA batteries for her pulse oximeter. People have it worst for him at least he’s out of the hospital and he’s on the lower end of the oxygen. I heard people come home with 6-7 or even more liters at home. Consult with your doctor if lowering oxygen is a good thing and see also if he even needs oxygen since his saturation hits 98-99
