I was too young to understand pokemon contests as a kid, so I never really used the berry stuff, just brute forced my way to the ribbons. Good times.

Pokemon Contests should've been a path for progression like the show.
They really missed out on enhancing it throughout the years, like maybe have an actual championship around it and make the mini games more skill based
@@JBzucc missed out on enhancing is an understatement. You might as well say that it's actively made worse, either through willfully dumming it down or lack of effort because of cost saving reasons.

It's always really surprised me how much depth there is to the whole berry system, especially as it relates to contests, when I'm willing to bet 80% or more of players don't even bother with it (which is kind of a shame really).

Also the Pokémon you get from in-game trades will have a raised contest stat in one of the 5 categories. Makit the Makuhita, for example, has slightly increased toughness when you first get it.

I'm a long time pokemon player and I'm going through each generation trying to get a complete pokedex. And as such I want to do everything these games can hold. Which includes Contests. My idea was a team of 5 pokemon for each contest Stat. I was searching up videos on different pokeblock combos when I found your video it's interesting to see you push the limits of berry blending. But no thank you on that. I'll stick with feeding my pokemon mono berries I can get from fire red

Apparently, Pokémon Box can now be used to clone Pokémon from any Gen III game, though I am not sure that eReader berries transfer over.
My favorite niche on UA-cam is hidden/broken/misunderstood gen 3 and 4 content. Thank you for filling that void.

I just got my Schyther in XD and am working on its earth ribbon now. I really don't have the means to do this with these berries and 4 GBAs is there still a good chance for me to get the contest ribbons without this method?
The Berries from the Berry Master's Wife and Mt Battle blended with the 3 NPCs in Lilycove can make some very good blocks

You mentioned using a japanese copy to help by using a duplication glitch. Can you trade english with japanese copies?
Also can the pokemon hold the ereader berries?
English and Japanese can trade, but e-Reader Berries can't be taken into any communication features

So I'm trying to understand this I need 4 of the same berry to get a boost for each category and I can't use 3 different berry for the nutpea berry because it will mess up the flavor?
@@gearpaladin8329 ONLY Nutpea or Kuo Berries will work, they have to have a Feel of 5 so that the Pokeblock only takes up 1/255 of your hunger bar. The flavor is random it's the fact that you can eat 255 of them that makes this work

Question. So you ended up using two nutpea cards? One English on the English games and one Japanese one the Japanese games? Trying to follow. Does the language printed on the reader matter or do you have a English and Japanese Ereader also? 🫠
The e reader will only scan cards from its region, so yes I used a Japanese Nutpea card for the Japanese game and e reader and likewise for English
Man I remember back in the day my buddies and I decided to try and take Pokémon contests seriously. We gave ourselves 3 days to make a contest worthy Pokémon (I ended up breeding a ralts with Destiny Bond for a combo move). People made fun of contests but they are actually really fun if you play them with people
that sableye thing at the end reminded me of the one contest I played in gen 3 where everyone had negative contest appeal by the end. It was a disaster and I'm pretty sure I won
I just realized that the rng for that must've been super unlikely, because it would've required all three cpu players to be using movesets that interfere with other contestants

actually, the Pokemon found in G3 in-game trades (aside from Orre ones) has an increased Contest stat. Yes, this includes the ones from Kanto.
Also the traded Chatot in Sinnoh games starts with boost in every stat, and 0 sheen.

Just came to look at your vids after watching the wild secret base one, and I'm honestly totally obsessed with your crazy in depth analyzes of less commonly discussed parts of the games. I'd always heard about the Enigma Berry being a filler for the E Reader stuff but didn't know anything about those berries, this video's plan kind of astounded me, lol. At first I misread it and thought we were going to somehow create a single Pokeblock containing maxed out stats in it, but the actual result was way greater than I could ever have imagined. This is like feeding your Scizor a diet made entirely of charcoal and it somehow ends up being nutritious because it absorbed nutrients off the sides of the pan. Absolutely legendary
Surprising result! I was expecting having a berry so lacking in any stats and using 4 at once would result in some form of underflow
I knew about the Berry Rarity making stronger Effects for the Pokemon Condition... The feel was something i never understood and it make sense all this time later. As a kid I was unsure why My pokemon Just didn't have enough to be come first place in the presentation round of the Contest the stats were at their limit because of the Rare Berries taking from Feel and therefore the Residual stats in other conditions just made it impossible for me to raise them any higher. My younger self with the knowledge i have attained by then was doomed before the Attempt to make the Contest pokemon even began but with my dedication back then I managed to get 5 Pokemon that were able to appear in the Museum through nothing but sheer effort alone. I am proud of that but now that i know the logic behind the Pokeblock and feel i should be able to raise a better contest Pokemon and Try going for all the Ribbons.

Been absolutely loving these pokemon videos.
Honestly, you can probably beat all Master Rank contests without even using Pokeblock. You can breed Destiny Bond onto a Shuppet, and level it up so it has a moveset of Curse, Spite, Destiny Bond, and any filler move. You use Curse, Spite, filler, Curse, Destiny Bond to get a ton of points. Spite and Destiny Bond both get combo boosts from Curse, so you'll end up with a base of 30 hearts, plus whatever your filler move gave.
I was able to beat each Master Rank contest with the same Shuppet with pretty poor stats in every stat except Smart and (I think) Cool, which were pretty close to max, since I didn't think one Pokemon would be able to get all of the Ribbons until I tried it.
Just watched someone go off for nearly 11 mins to talk about super hard nuts, feel accomplished.
Does the Nutpea Berry turn into an Enigma Berry in Emerald and vice versa? So, you can clone them in Emerald that way?
e Reader berries can't be brought into any communication features except Pal Park where they become Enigma Berries in Gen 4
I remember brute forcing my way to all twenty five Hoenn contest ribbons on a haunter about fifteen years ago. I used the mean look + destiny bond combo. It was surprisingly effective, even on the contest that smart moves detracted from the excitement.

I'm currently preparing to use this pokeblock method, and found that the item cloning glitch is possible in English cartridges! The set up is done the same as from im a blisy's video, and I was able to test it with the Mauville TV reporter double battle that rotates between a few routes.
For anyone like me who is using some English or non-Japanese cartridges, this will save time by not having to scan the cards every time.
Is no one gonna talk about how the nutpea berry is 4.9 inches? WHICH IS EXTREMELY ABOVE AVERAGE.
I'm a huge nerd so I made a quick Monte Carlo simulation and ran a million trials of giving a Pokémon 255 Pokéblocks, each with three randomly selected flavours at 2, just because I was curious how unlucky you'd have to be for this method to fail if all you did was make _exactly_ 255 black Pokéblocks with Nutpea berries.
There was a 0.31% failure rate, with the worst observed incomplete stat being at 232. Realistically, of course, if you were in that unlucky scenario, getting close to maxing out sheen and falling short on one or two stats, you'd stop feeding them the black Pokéblocks and throw in a couple of basic specific flavour ones to make up the deficit.
I kinda wish these ecard berries were revived in the succeeding generations. Maybe with additional effects. IIRC, 2 of these were the only berries that can cure infatuation (though I'd probably just Red Flute that).
Is there a gameshark code or someth to fill my inventory with that kind of pokeblock? (Or any pokeblock that would also result in maxing out all contest stats)
I'm running through my dad's old Ruby file, which he gamesharked the fuck out of, and he has 99x enigma berries. He only gamesharked so that me and my brother as little kids could get cool pokemon for stuff like not panicking at the dentist or getting good grades.

I appreciate you recording on an actual gamecube and presumably an HDMI adapter, but you seriously need to consider running Swiss (a custom GameCube 'OS') and GameBoyInterface (GBI; home-brew GBA emulator) instead. The GameBoy Player emulator works, but is surprisingly inferior. It has a High Fidelity mode, which with an HDMI output, makes it look identical to the original digital GBA signal (if you were to output it via HDMI with the likes of a GBA Consolizer mod. The purest and cleanest GBA video.
All you need to run Swiss is a $10 SD2SP adapter, a Micro SD Card, and a way to boot Swiss (easiest will probably be buying a cheap pre-burned boot disc). You also get features like taking screenshots mid-game and even makes dumping ROMs and backing up saves a breeze. Something tells me you already know all this and still prefer the 'official' means of emulating GBA...but I am sharing on the off chance that this is not the case.
I'm really tempted to do this, but I need three friends willing to help me. All I need is one more GBA SP and the Nutpea berry card. 🤪

You'd end up with 3 Feel per block, which wouldn't get you perfect stats it has to be 4 players

What happens if I transfer a Pokémon with this berry equipped to Pokémon Emerald?
You can't use communication features while a Pokemon in your party has an e-reader berry.

Hi Toasty! First I need to say I’m loving the Pokémon content. I had a question though, you said that you’re sending your scizor through all the gens. Are you using solely real hardware? And mainly can you freely send your Pokémon through all the versions or are there one way gates involved.
Sort of a related question, but which version do you like to keep your collected Pokémon? Like your shinys or other special Pokémon, do you leave them in the cartridge you collected them in? To the newest release? Or is there a specific one that’s good.

Yup this is all real hardware, even the e-Reader cards needed for catching Scizor!
Pokémon games tend to be a one-way trip when moving up through the generations. For example once they go to Platinum from Ruby they can't move back but they can move to Diamond, Pearl etc.
I keep my collection in Pokémon Home because there isn't any one game anymore that can store all the ~1000 species anymore. Plus I can see them on my phone :)

Some emulators have a way to simulate e reader cards and link cable. You'd need to run the Nintendo e reader, simulate a link cable connection (Ruby/Sapphire on the Player 1 end), then simulate scanning the Nutpea Berry

@@caolanochearnaigh9804 Modest nature will help a lot, as they like Dry Pokeblocks. As for the best way you can make recipes that don't use Nutpea and get max stats, I recommend joining the Pokemon Ribbons Discord and asking in the #contest-stars channel.
As for moveset you can use Rest/Snore or Rain Dance/Hydro Pump, both are high-scoring combos

Great video! I found your channel recently because of your ribbon video and have been enjoying all of the obscure Pokemon related things. I would like to say though, you could have done some fun glitches in order to execute code within the game to have a full case of perfect Pokeblocks! Maybe something to consider in the future if you try something like this again! I've been really into RNG manipulation and ACE lately because I think it's just really neat how you can do all of these things in a vanilla game without the use of any cheat device. Cheers!

There's anyway to put Max Contest Stats in Pokemon Pearl? i wanna max a Pichu SHiny Event and transfer him for future games, but i wanna do the Ribbon Challenge too! but i don't know how to max stat it in Pearl.
Gen 4 requires 4 DS's and 4 games, and also punishes idle players meaning you would need someone on each DS to get perfect stats.
Platinum has Poffins on sale in the basement of the Veilstone Department Store that can give decent stats, and then you can max stats in ORAS because there is no limit there.

@@dinismano1192 With only one game it's very hard to get decent stats. There is a rich boy in the Contest Hall that gives a very strong Mild Poffin, which will give a good amount but make sure you feed it last.

Would anyone be able to clarify this: at the end of this process, each contest stat's value is maxed out at 255, and the sheen is maxed out at 255 as well, correct?
Yup, sheen is increased by the feel of the blocks you've eaten, while the stats are from the flavors

One question, can I use e-reader (USA region) and transfer the data to a game of another language (Spa, Ger, Fran, etc)
e-Reader cards are region locked, so you can't use them in other region games. You can't trade with the berries, either

It would depend on your answers to these questions:
1. Do you have access to berries from Colosseum or XD Gale of Darkness (Salac, Petaya, Ganlon, Apicot)
2. Do you have access to the Liechi Berry from Mirage Island?
3. Do you have access to the Blend Master in Emerald?

@@Nzg41 In that case the best you can do is to go to Lilycove Contest Hall and blend with the 3 NPC blender, as it is better than just 2 Players. For your berry select the following:
4x Pomeg
4x Kelpsy
2x Qualot
2x Hondew
2x Grepa
1x Watmel
Feed the Watmel block last. This should give a spread of 150/138/119/138/115 in Coolness, Beauty, Cuteness, Cleverness and Toughness, with 1.1x to the liked flavor and 0.9x to the disliked flavor. To do any better you will need rarer berries or more GBA systems
Couldn't you use 4 Japanese games to speed up the process? And does the prefect contest stats transfer into later gens?
You could, but I don't own four Japanese games. The stats will transfer forward to all games with the contest condition
Well you mentioned the emerald cloning glitch but what's stopping you from giving a Pokemon the nutpea berry as a held item in ruby and Sapphire after scanning the card and getting it from Norman and just trading it to pokemon emerald and cloning that way instead of this ridiculous process?
You can't have e reader berries in Emerald ever, they are blocked from entering link features

Hey could you help me? I want to try this but I want to make sure I understand everything so I don't mess up my shiny pokemon.
First of all I have a kuo berry card I'm pretty sure it's the exact same as the nutpea berry card but I just want to make sure.
When you connect with all of the gbas do you have mix with all of them or only one of them?
You said that the pokeblocks have 3 out of the 5 categories randomly. Does that mean that if I'm unlucky/not careful I could reach 254 sheen and not be at max stats?
You can replace any number of Nutpea with Kuo, they work exactly the same. In theory you could get below max stat but that's very unlikely and you'll still have extremely high stats that you can fix in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
You could probably get to 254 Sheen and then get some sort of 3-flavor block to fix the last bit if absolutely necessary
You only need to blend on one GBA, though with all Nutpea/Kuo the speed only affects how long you have to actually blend for the results will always be the same
