From this beginning, you get the sense that Li Mu Bai and Yu Shu Lien are close to finally ending up together. But the character of Jen upends all of that.
I feel as much as this incredible movie is known for it's gravity defying fights, the first 10 minutes are a beautiful set building of the traditional world all these people live in. All the core conflicts of the movie are introduced within the first 10 minutes, and that the Green Destiny is a catalyst, even though it only returns to the hand of it's owner for one scene.
This was the original subtitling (I have it on VHS) I watched one with different subtitles many years after it was released (font/color was different) and I noticed the phrases were different yet easier to follow. I imagine they re-did the subtitling soon after.
Damn she was giving out to much intelligence, once she saw another guest in the study she should have just put the case on the mantle and not show off the weapon.
