It looks like he's gotten better at using his left hand some. He still favors his right a lot more, but he actually made a left handed layup while driving to the left this time.

I don't think he will be a superstar, but he has the potential to be an All-Star at least once. Austin should've stayed in Duke longer and I think he's not gonna do so well his first few years in the NBA.

His shot could be prettier, but he's insanely quick & knows how to finish. Plus he's aggressive. That's a good baller right there. He'll be a star.

  • @mahlz24

These dudes on the other video is right! I also noticed he has the same move set from highschool. He doesn't like to use his non dominate hand to finish. Plus, he shy from contact when he is forced to drive with his non dominate hand. Also, if you noticed he relies too much on his handle and struggle to change speeds. He only changes speeds during size ups. Resorting to iso to get his points. He needs a more simple moveset that doesn't require so much dribbles and time. That double between the leg/jab step is too damn much. It is only useful for iso situations, he can not use that in transition, certainly not pnr .

He has a good release, just bad form, his right elbow is pointing in the wrong direction.

@lmaostrnoob It is true that he averaged 28 PPG and 2.2 APG this past season for Winter Park, but that's fine when you're a shooting guard. Ray Allen averaged 18.9 PPG and 2.7 APG assists this past season. I'm sure when more capable scoring options are around him, the team will desire a more distributive game from Rivers, however for the incentive of winning, Rivers has exceeded his team's incentives making him the number #1 high school prospect in the nation. Nobody on his team is complaining.

kyrie, rivers, cook, dawkins, curry, gbinije, thorton we got a nasty backcourt next year and with mason, miles, marshall, and kelly down low, marshall is alot better rebounder and shot blocker than other 2, just needs to put on some weight. Also alex murphy possibly coming next year, i dont get how u cant see duke winning the national title.

Austin Rivers is a gr8 basketball player but what he lags is toughness, defensive skills and how to use his left hand! He has gr8 anticipation skills and the toughness he'll develop more in college nd defenses will exploit tht and duke will develop his left hand but the defensive skills will come from him he has 2 get tht down be4 he can be called an all around player, rite now he's just a scorer!

Kids got all star caliber talent, no doubt. Just hope his confidence doesent overtake his work ethic. He may look really great against any high school teams and will probably look great against any division 1 teams who go against his duke team but in the nba it aint going to be this easy against guys like d rose, cp3 or dwill cause theyd kill him right now on the court. Hope he doesent get to muc of an ego thinkin he can slack off cause te dude has massive talents and i want to c him at his best

I'm so fucking tired of people who only watch his highlights and say he doesn't use his left. I live in winter park and went to almost all of his reg season games(the ones at home). I can say he uses his left and does a good job with it. Just because they don't show his left handed finishes in his highlight reel doesn't mean he doesn't use it. You need to educate yourself before making stupid comment like that one.

  • @rockyalexander100

people say he has no left, that maybe somewhat true but it doesnt effect him getting to the rack, it doesnt effect him being a beast! coach k can work with him on that. so keep hating while he ends up being a nba all star one day while people sit youtube talking about him having no left. while hes making millions a year.
