“Have they not seen the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? None holds them up except the Most Compassionate. Indeed, He is All-Seeing of everything.” Al Qur’an
Not necessarily! Some large flying birds don’t fly very often except for in short bursts, whereas others are ‘active soarers’ (ex: albatrosses), with wings adapted for soaring over water as long as wind currents are favorable. Vultures have a specific wing structure for ‘passive soaring’, in which the wings are long and broad, ending at the wingtips in long primary feathers with wide gaps in between. It all depends on the type of bird and the bird’s lifestyle! (diet, ecology, etc.)
One hit me today. I went looking for it. Couldn't find it. I hope he was ok. Took out the window of my semi truck. Flying off the rocks, but didn't get high enough I guess.
If it was hit with a semi, it’s not ok, it’s dead. Hope you’re alright though. Btw if it was in America it wasn’t a griffon vulture, probably black vulture or turkey vulture. Hopefully not a condor lol.
In Matthew and Luke this bird is talked about. It’s absolutely beautiful how God meant them to depend on the sun (Son) for their strength!!! The Bible is beautiful!!
Agree dude is disrespectful this man is a national treasure. When in boats we wear life jackets, might look like bulletproof vest. He still hops in and out of helicopters at 90! Show some respect.
Nope, hyenas-as in Spotted hyenas-hunt more than they scavenge! Vultures are obligate scavengers, meaning they rely entirely or near entirely on carrion as a food resource. They are the only living terrestrial vertebrates with this lifestyle, so there really aren’t any other extant terrestrial vertebrates they can be compared or equated to in terms of their role as obligate scavengers.
Attenborough is great till he starts talking about evolution . You won't find any fossils of vultures that are half developed to what they are now... why? Because they are creatures .. Created!
Less than 2 minutes of David Attenborough is like having two drinks then stopping.
Omg! You couldn’t be more right!! Every time, I’m always like, “what? No, I need more!” 😂
People still drink? 🤮
@@captainobvious1252you not..well you will be drying out then..

You mean to say if these vultures want they can go to a height of 37 - 38000 feets
They can fly in the lower parts of the stratosphere…. Beyond that, the pressure is too, gravity overthrows their efforts to sustain lift…
I'm sad, David Attenborough is going away, like the legend he is
Finally get to see the face to the unique voice
The way he said 11 kilo really spooke me
Donkey, and Diddy Kong are their greatest threat

Here from Charles Peralo

Without looking at the video - updrafts.
wrong! thermals. updrafts are different and are caused by wind hitting objects, thermals are caused by heat!
Do all larger birds have to do this?

That guy has a cool voice
Lol over millions of years. So how was the first griffin vulture able to fly if the wings were evolving? Or was it overnight like magic?
Give us a video on all the giant skeletons your hiding please 🤓

Sad to think that the Smithsonian would chose a evolutionist to narrate on their channel.
What should they be using?

Wow. We live in the 21st century. The fact this is even still a debate....
Im confused. can someone pls exaplain.
And vultures can't flap much due to their huge wings cause it'll take too much work for their muscles and that means energy is wasted
And the rocks reflect the warm sunlight that makes the air warn and then it rises from below
