Johanne Morissette Daug Amon-Lamar (/mɒrɪˈsɛt/ MORR-ih-SET; born June 2, 1996), known professionally as Morissette and frequently also referred to as Morissette Amon, is a Filipina singer, songwriter, producer and former actress. She first rose to prominence when she was the runner-up on TV5's Star Factor at the age of 14. In 2012, she made her professional stage debut in the Repertory Philippines stage adaptation of Disney's Camp Rock in the role of Mitchie Torres. She competed in the first season of ABS-CBN's The Voice of the Philippines in 2013, where she became part of Sarah Geronimo's team. She became a recording artist of Star Music in early 2014 and released her first album, titled Morissette, in March 2015. In 2017 she was called "The Next Big Diva".

Two things I have realized from following Mori for years.
First, she is a singer so confident that she has no fear at all of taking iconic songs by famous artists and putting her own spin on them. In private life she may be kind and modest, but not on stage. The way she concluded Defying Gravity is an example, with an attitude I would even call Gascon: À la fin de l'envoi, je touche!
Second, every singer, in every song has a build-up to a climax. Mori always goes further, almost in every song she reach an EPIC moment.
She defies nature. The best vocalist today.
Girls growing up want to be a Disney princess, but Disney princesses want to be like Morissette. She did 4 more covers in this session, sitting down!

This was put together at the height of Covid in the Philippines. In the face of great obstacles....great artists create art! Morissette is a great artist and a generational singer......and if her team get her in place....you are watching the next recipient of the EGOT !!!!

Songs she sung in lockdown, I love HOME from the Wiz it's beautiful, now Mori sings everything, POP ROCK GOSPEL and COUNTRY you name it Mori sings it, she has around 100 covers plus original music, she has a 5.5 octive range which allows her to everything from Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce, Ariane, Aretha Franklin, Adele, she has sung duets with Jessie J when she was 18, then there is Michael Bolton and many more, she is very humble to all those who are having a bad day and helps out taking over when another singer loses his or her voice, Mori has the most complett voice out there
I have seen her sing when she was 9 years old, the power was there but the control of breath and voice has come over the last 10 years, and her octive range has gone from 4.0 to the 5.5, so now ENJOY your journey down the very large rabbit hole, it will take you about 2 years to hear every song from Mori.

The sheer excitement you showed, as you watched this incredible young lady sing, literally brought me to tears!!! I, myself, cried the very first time I heard her, 4 years ago, here on YT!!! I think I cried because I realized God allowed me to live this long to hear the MOST beautiful voice He's ever created that I felt so blessed!!!!! I don't know anythig about how a singer sings the notes they do. But after hearing this young lady, I don't even want to hear the original artists anymore!!! I have also been blessed to know an amazing voice when I hear one!!! She is, second to none, the best singer on this planet today!!!! I beg of you to listen to Someone Like You that she did in these same Stages Sessions that she performed. It is not the song that Adele made. It's from the Broadway musical, Jekyll & Hyde. Home, is yet another one from the musical The Wiz. Yes, wow. I wake up every morning hoping Mori growls at me. You're going to get a lot of suggestions, but if you want to see her range, " Fly Like a Bird" and "I Want To Know What Love Is" will give you a good start. Imho, Mori is the queen of vocal breaks(cries squeaks, growls, and whistles). She upgrades everything she touches.

I could have sworn you had reacted to her before, around the time you discovered Sohyang, but maybe that was just my mind telling me "I really ought to tell Cedric about Morissette" before the thought slid completely out of my Swiss cheese brain. I'll second and third the recommendations in the other comments to react to "Akin Ka Na Lang." Once again, she makes it her own. She's a vocal "genius". You nailed her voice. She's a throwback to the 80's pop singers with big, developed voices, but with some modern, stylistic nuances.
