Thanks! Yes she’s very gentle when in a good mood! She’s a lot like a dog, follows as I walk by, gets angry if I don’t acknowledge her, and I can tell when she’s happy or not well!
I have one of these fish as well and can confirm they are very personable. Those who say they aren't have most likely never had one. An opinion out of thin air.
Based on my current experience, these are a very calm and gentle fish. It is beautiful to see that it is eating leafy greens like this, as it is direct proof that this animal does appreciate this type of food and has this type of feeding behavior it has been difficult to find reliable information online, but actually watching it in video, there is no doubt thank you for posting this video. I have currently received two of them and they are extremely large so working to develop a good feeding routine with them has been a bit difficult since they are so timid and shy, despite being absolutely massive.
My advice is to not feed them every day - maybe every second or 3rd day is ok. I believe this is better for them, and as a bonus they’ll be hungrier at feeding time and therefore happier to see you and receive the food.
THAT WAS SO AWESOME!!!! I CANT BELIEVE HOW GENTLE THAT FISH WAS EATING FROM YOUR HAND, AND SPINACH, I HAD NO IDEA THAT A FISH WOULD LOVE SPINACH AS MUCH AS THAT ONE DID!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! YOU ARE AN AWESOME PET PARENT!!!!!!!
Awesome fish man, good job on the aquarium size and the good caring as we can see, I've seen some giant gouramis in tanks it can barely move, so sad... I imagine that now that your fish gets older the calmer it is, but at some moment did she eat any smaller fish?
Thanks! Yes i don’t like seeing these or any fish in tanks that are too small. When I first got Sammy at about 3 years of age, I had about 30 small fish in the tank. Within a few days they had all been eaten. She has definitely calmed down over the years..
@@paulspets9318 It seems Sammy got over the bad girl days then xD Well it can seem obvious but I heard a lot that this fish is mostly herbivore, through some re-reading now I see it's also considered omnivore, BUT mostly herbivore, thanks for replying bro, take care!

All but the Common Pleco were purchased at my local fish store. The Common Pleco I purchased off a great person who rescued it - it must have been in a smallish aquarium before and was being picked on by other fish.
I got one last time, feed him with almost everything, this guy is a monster, bread, pallet, biscuits, spinach, rice bananas , until he was too big too handle I free him back in the wild.
Yep it's another type of Gourami (Golden?). It was rehomed from my nephew's aquarium, as it was attacking all the fish in that tank. No such problems now.
I expected it to snatch it and bite you but it is so gentle and sweet it made me teary eyed

Oh that's nice to know that I'm not the only one who uses fork or some similar utensil to keep veggies down for my fish😅👍
Thanks for saying that because I was wondering what the deal was with the fork🤔

To hold down the food, otherwise the food will float
