We need normal.. we need normal more than ever, and we all need to be able to do things that feel normal and enjoyable but still safe. Sounds like you had a really good time :) Love watching you craft cause i can sit and craft with you or usually i fussy cut while watching and listening :) i was new at journaling and paper crafting about 3 yrs ago and i have learned alot from you and i cant thank you enough.. mixed media and making journals is not normal in norway -everyone is just making cards lol ;) there are some odd balls like myself but mostly we go to american ,canadian and english youtube videos and i love yours. Big hug from a sub in norway

This was very relaxing to watching you mod podge napkins down on fabric. Glad you got to see the kids. HELFUL HINT: ⭐️ The holder of your plastic wrap (all dispenser holders) have tabs on each end so you can push them in to anchor the role of plastic, aluminum or what ever you’re using. Just thought that might help. Thank you for sharing 🤗

    • @nooncheek
      @nooncheek 4 роки тому +1

I was about to the post that helpful hint as well! My friend taught me that just two weeks ago when she saw me struggling with plastic wrap. I can't believe I went through my whole life not knowing those tabs were there!

How wonderful that you were able to visit with at least some of the family! You sound so happy now. Lately I could hear the stress of you missing them....and more-so, the lack of “normal.” Ping pong is a favorite for me as well, as we grew up with a table in our basement as well. With two older brothers and living in western New York, it was a great way to spend winters. When my hubby and I married, way before the times of the internet, we lived in Germany (he was in the Army), and we played lots of pool and ping pong on Sunday after church.
I’m totally loving the covers. 😊. I look forward to seeing where they go from here! You were breaking my heart covering the butterflies at first, but then you bright them back in the end!!! Butterflies are my favorite. 🦋🦋🦋🦋
I think I will have to give this a go! 🤗🐾🐾🐶. Napkin backs - I’ve got a zillion of them!
Ohhh, id love to see the Buddha place! So many things (and people) I’d love to see in Montana!

I don't know where ideas like this spring from because my well is always dry. I can copy like an art forger, but to come up with napkin bits glued to fabric? NO, my brain doesn't go to those places. Can't wait for Part 2 to see how this turns out!!

LOL Gayle, saving the white backs of the napkins for toilet paper made me giggle through the whole video! 😂 Priceless! 👌 Isn't it just great to do something "normal" again? I get all emotional about "normal" things these days. So good to hear you had a wonderful visit with your kids and grandkids 👏 💕 Can't wait to see the result of all the napkin layering on the fabric!

So glad you had a good visit with your family! Hopefully it won't be too much longer before more frequent visits are possible. This is a very interesting technique. I understand why but was still surprised at the number of layers. After the first few of the patterned ones, I thought it was pretty and probably would have stopped but you just pasted right on over it and then some! And it came out just great - as you knew it would. Amazing!

Oh WOW! That is so gorgeous and looks like it would be very relaxing and fun. I’m looking forward to see how they look dried tomorrow. I’m so glad you and Mr A had a great visit with the kids...even Jimmy Joe! I have to share, my daughter and her family came over on Mother’s Day and brought me lunch. It was wonderful weather which was good because we had planned on sitting on my deck so we could keep our distance. I sat on one side of the deck and the four of them sat 10 ft away but I had an absolutely great time. My son-in-law is a Captain in San Diego Police Dept so he is out and among the public daily so we can’t have any close contact. Even your talking about ping pong brought back such wonderful memories for me. My late husband was quite the ping pong player an my kids grew up trying to beat dad at a game. I’m sorry for going on and on but you really struck a chord with me today. Thanks for your wonderful visits with your subbies and for the wonderful projects you bring us.

Oh My Gosh Gayle... I love this!!! I. Not sure if I saw your first video, but this wasn’t totally new to me. Having said that... I had totally forgotten about it lol. I feel like you are on my head sometimes hahaha. Either similar thought processes or you hear when I have a need to use up scraps and suddenly you are offering genius ideas to do so. I have some tissue paper scraps I’ve been holding onto. I had no idea why... until now. This is perfect👏🏻!!! I don’t have a huge supply of napkins but I think I have enough to use for the layers (I like them - but I’m not in love with them) and I may use some digital paper printed on tissue for my top layers. I’ve been looking for the ideal cover for an Art Journal, and I really wanted something fabric. I think this is ideal. The fabric will be protected by the mod podge. Exactly what I’ve been waiting for. Yayyy!!! Thank you so much for sharing... you are so inspiring!!! Big hugs, Sharon 🌷💜

Sounds like you had a great Mother’s Day. My children and grandchildren came over and we stood outside apart and really talked for hours. We are still shelter in place here. But there is nothing like seeing each other face to face even 6 ft apart. My grandchildren are 13 1/2 and 11 so they have changed a bit but not as much if they were younger.

I can not wait to make this! When I finish what I am working on this will be my next cover. I did a journal pouch that I decoupaged on a paper lunch bag and that made for a wonderfully leather like texture, I imagine this is just as wonderful. You have been on my mind quite a bit outside of crafting, Sunday (Mother's Day) my great nephew had his first communion in the Helena Cathedral. We watched the live stream, I had forgotten how beautiful all of the stain glass is. Then last night on our after dinner walk we came across 2 bunnies, we used to see them in our yard but our neighbor now has 3 dogs and the bunnies have moved ;-{ Enjoyed this one, can't wait to see more! TFS

I see napkin shopping in my future! I had a hard time watching you cover and cover the beautiful napkin designs! Very pretty and a good idea. Tfs
Some of every medium I craft with speaks to me. Some don't. Junk journals spoke to me. I'm also a lapitarist. Some stones speak to ma and some don't. Only another artist will understand that concept. When I told my grandson that the stones speak to me as I wire wrap them he laughed. He just had no concept/ understanding of it. I didn't say any more to him about it.
I already know that I will enjoy this even before I try it. I kinda did that on the dinosaurs napkins that went into Dixon's journal. They were quite wet and didn't need the second coat. Took them over a day to dry
I love the peacocks. They would have made a good top if they were mine, but you aren't me lol

I do understand. I feel that way about beading. I tried and tried to get into it, but it just didn’t speak to me. I do enjoy making boho beads though. 😁❤️

Picking up the Mod Podge and drinking it, would be something I would do, lol. Glad you had a nice Mother's Day. Stay safe.

Catching up on your videos, I don’t like to fall behind. I used matt modge podge on craft wrapping paper with dragon flies on it, found it at the thrift store a few months ago; came from TJMaxx..great buy and made a cover out if it, feels leathery like you said. This one I will give it a try, I need to make more covers. Every time I think I’m done with a journal, more ideas are shown...which I love. 👍🌸🌸🌸

You have beautiful napkins. My parents had a ping-pong table in the basement at one house. It is a fun game.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh! I love the big flowers on the muslin too. Ok, I think I might be losing it. Everytime you dip the big brush in the watered down mod podge, it sounds like a kid slurping on a straw. Yep, I might have been quarantined just a little too long. lol. Have fun! Hugs, treen

Oh good heavens another amazing idea to try - is there no end to your creativity???😂 I have a lot of Hessian - do you think that would work too? Guess will have to try it! Thanks so much Gayle for all your wonderful ideas! 😍⭐

I’m not sure the thickness of hessian, but you could sure give it a try! If it’s very thick, perhaps using fewer layers of napkin would help? I think it would make a grand experiment!! Thanks for watching, Vivienne! ❤️

I like the way the napkins just melt into the others. Curious to see the finished cover. I am so happy for you to have a wonderful Mothers Day. Cheers....
