  • Finally got to take the two of them up together and have some fun! Honestly, pretty close in performance overall but that 6s expectedly has the edge. Enjoy!

    Very nice! I like the simplicity of this EDF. It looks like a very nice 1st jet, but the Eflight Viper 70mm also looks interesting which makes it a tough decision.

      It's a great first jet! The size, weight, and simplicity, make this one easy to grab and go. The 70mm Viper is one of my favorites if you want something a little more complex. It's heavier and lands faster, but if you like something with flaps and retracts, can't beat the Viper. I have plenty of Viper videos, check em out!

    Maiden flight on my SS this morning.
    I 'm not thrilled with a 4000 4s 60c .
    Stalls on climb and is pretty slow for a jet. I wish I had a 6s to fly it just to see the difference.

      I didn't even bother with the 4s cause I was having weight and balance issues and I figured it'd probably do something like what you just described. Definitely invest in a couple 6s batteries you'll appreciate it much more!

      @@proudneanderthal1843 the roaring tops have been good for us. Sometimes with the smart stuff that's expecting a spektrum battery you get goofy alarms and voltage crap but they're a little bit cheaper and we've got a bunch of them. Haven't had any issues.

      @@proudneanderthal1843 we've been using the RoaringTop 4300mAh 35c in our numerous 6s airplanes and have been very pleased. We have a Spektrum 4000mAh 50c pack that has worked well too.

    I have 1 6s jet (Rafale) & love it. Even tho its been up 3x. Looking for a 4s, 70mm something. STS, using 4s/2700 smart packs, what would you think flight time would be? (Getting 3 1/2 minutes on my raf using 6s/5000 oynx packs)

      We have our timer set at 5 minutes I believe for the 4S on the STS and I think we've flown it longer than that if you're not going all out full throttle the whole time.

    Question: Is the main wing the exact same size between the two models? I know the SS wing has some more carbon supports but otherwise, aren't the wings identical?

    • @Jeffroe111
      @Jeffroe111  2 роки тому +2

      Far as I can tell and based on the specs in the manuals, they are identical.

    Question for you jeffro. Are the battery bays the same size? Can we use a 4s in the SS and upgrade the STS to 6s?

    • @Jeffroe111
      @Jeffroe111  Рік тому

      Greetings! The battery bays in the fuselage are the same, however the hatches are different. There's an extra piece of foam on the STS hatch that won't close if you put a 6S size battery in it unless you cut it off and you'll have to install a 6S compatible motor. The SS is already designed to take a 4S but for me I found the weight and balance was pretty far off the recommended CG mark and the heavier 6S battery was the way to go to get the CG on. Hope this helps!

    I have a 70amp esc in mine. One of the first habu. Can i use a 6s lipo in mine or will it burn the motor?

    • @Jeffroe111
      @Jeffroe111  Рік тому

      If it's an early, all stock, Habu STS, stick with the manufacturer recommendations and don't exceed the 4s. Based on my speed runs, not much difference anyway. We accidentally (just wasn't paying attention because the connector was the same) hooked up a 6s to a 4s twin prop once and the voltage instantly burned one of esc's and motor. So according to my engineer father, the voltage of a 6s would run the motor hotter and faster than it should and likely burn it out and/or blow it up!

    Will there be overheating issues if I run five 4s packs in a row without rest for the STS?

    • @Jeffroe111
      @Jeffroe111  Рік тому +2

      Great question. We probably ran 3 packs atleast without rest, only heat I've noticed was from the battery. Everything else was good.
