    not a tech person, but from what i've understood tarkov runs better the better the single core perfomance is; and hyperthreading supposedly puts more strain on the core the thread it is related to, which means decreasing single core perfomance (?)

    • @lewel7286
      @lewel7286 Рік тому

      Hyperthreading disables opportunity to divide core into two threads, so each core = each thread. Due to this you increase capacity of L(1,2,3 (mostly know about L1)) caches. Tarkov is hungry on those caches, also when you lower some of graphic settings, some job relays on CPU, which also decreases fps. Better version of RAM and it’s clocks and frequency also ensures that your cpu won't be bottleneck. I wish there was some PC settings which laptops (even gaming, like my one) hadn't

    my biggest problem right now with tarkov is the game simply not utilizing any of my resources, i started to think it was just a ram bottleneck so i bought 32gb of 3600 ddr4 ram, because mine was 16gb of 24/2600, im hoping it fixes the game only using 30-40% of both my gpu and cpu, ive watched countless videos and everything i do simply doesnt give me any additional frames with my i5 11400 or 3060, i get around 70-80 fps on customs but maps like lighthouse and streets im barely maintaining 30-40 fps, but then it stutters really weirdly then my fps will skyrocket up to about 70-80 then out of nowhere im stuck back down to 30-40, which im assuming maybe someone killed a rogue or something like that which takes some load off of my resources? idk, ive been having this issue for a while now and i cant seem to find an answer anywhere other than my own hypothesis that im being bottlenecked by ram. if anyone has had or has simillar problems could you leave a reply with either a fix or if theyre also having the same issue? maybe once i get new ram if it does bring me out of the what i think is a bottleneck i can put down my solution, and to add on another thing my game runs off of an m.2, from what i hear games run fastest on them, but idk, im just trying to find answers and it seems everywhere i look i cant seem to find anything that actually helps my issue, most videos say "having low gpu/cpu usage? well youre wrong youre just using task manager, use msi afterburner overlay!" and im using afterburner overlay and its still saying 30-40% !!!

      @@loserXO see i tried doing that a few weeks ago and it seemed like it really did nothing, then i watched another video that essentially told me to crank my settings so the game would be using high resolution graphic computing in turn using my gpu but i found with that solution is it really just increased my gpu usage and kept my fps around the same if not lowering it... im going to seriously have to take a few hours just to mess around with my settings and see if there is anything that does anything, seems most options that directly affect your performance require restarting your game and i really dont want to have to boot into the game, go to the exact same spot in the map to get an accurate reading, then reset my game and rinse and repeat...

    only one thing I wanna say, If you have a decent gpu and your computer is cpu limited, having lower textures/shadows puts higher pressure on your cpu to remove some from your gpu so you wanna have these as high as your gpu can handle

    • @trevorjanow5369

      Finally I see someone else say this. I always thought it was weird I got better frames with higher graphics. I used to get 70 yo 90 frames on most maps. With low everything beside textures. Once I cranked them all to high being textures shadows on ultra hbao and ssr on high I’m pushing 130 plus frames on all maps beside streets and lighthouse. I have a 3060ti and a Ryzen 5 5600 or something not exactly sure

    • @inreisen
      @inreisen Рік тому +1

      I really wonder what other settings are CPU related or GPU related. For example, I think HBAO and SSR are GPU related so increasing their quality puts work on GPU. I also have CPU bottleneck. I have 3080 with i9 9900K and have fps problems on Lighthouse and Streets, other maps are good only exception is Reserve, Reserve is okay performance.

    • @xKalxElx
      @xKalxElx Рік тому

      @@inreisenyour intuition is correct my friend! Most processes for lighting are indeed GPU bound. And the lower your resolution the more of a CPU bottle neck you will run into. There is however a setting you can change on the NVidia control panel that limits the amount of frames your CPU can pre render and que for your GPU which cuts on that bottle neck slightly if your rig would benefit from a setting like that being turned on. Before upgrading my PC I was using a gtx 960 and had high textures but low settings for shadows and HBAO and SSR and would get close to 60 frames. Getting a new MOBO, RAM, CPU, GPU let me max all the lighting settings out on top of the textures and still got an FPS increase.

    • @inreisen
      @inreisen Рік тому

      @@xKalxElx What is that setting? Is that v-sync? I am using DLDSR in order to upscale my 1080p monitor to 1440p. With that my bottleneck is much lower and my in-game settings are all max only the exception of Object LOD Quality(which decreases my fps so much, around 15-20 fps if change that from 2 to 4). I am trying to optimize Tarkov for years and it's so difficult.

  • @enyeldejesusvaldez6993
    @enyeldejesusvaldez6993 Рік тому +2

    The reason why is bc Tarkov only uses physical cores, the performance boost comes after you disable it 13:33 bc then the game runs through only the physical cpus instead of going through a physical and then a logical and then going over and over again like that trying to figure out which one it could run through, so the process is longer

I ended up looking back at the original video you made when you replied to my comment in your previous settings video, and it helped a bit! setting the LOD to 2 in-game helped in my case quite a bit as well, but I'm forced to use higher quality settings in game so that my CPU isn't dragged to hell LOL

    The affinity thing afaik is supposedly beneficial for AMD cpus, especially Ryzen due to the inter-ccx cache latency.
    By forcing the cpus to not 'share' cache by disabling half of them (for the specific application), the cache latency is a non-issue.

    • @OmniXen26
      @OmniXen26 Рік тому +2

      It was especially needed for inter-CCX CPUs (basically before 5000 series) but it yields performance benefits in basically any CPU configuration, Intel and 5th Gen Ryzen included.
      Threads still use registers of the same main core afterall.

What im really curious is what kind of CPU/GPU utilization % you are having while in online raid in maps like streets and lighthouse. i have 12700k+3080ti and 1440p and lately i have had this problem where i only get 40-60fps as my utilizations drop down to 15% CPU and 25% GPU. i have now completely reinstalled drivers and its not fixed, might have to try reinstall tarkov.
