I've also stopped buying kits just to buy them. Now what I do is, I buy the kits that i most definitely want, and I buy more custom minifigs. Over collecting is a real thing lol
Well said Shy, I also feel myself backing off from my lego addiction. I will collect sets that will fit into my shelf city, and maybe a display worthy set here or there; but no more buying just to buy. Lego are becoming too expensive; and I also find myself regifting or donating things that I thought I "had to have" just because it was lego. Like Tiago said less is more!
After this Christmas and getting chewed out in a group chat I am in by 2 people for the amount of lego I have sealed in box still to build I really felt upset because for the past year I have been going through major depression and lego has been the only thing keeping me going but after I showed that chat my sets I got to thinking I might as well list most of the smaller sets on marketplace make a few bucks and put the money towards the one set I have wanted for years that I missed out on a brick bank modular. I mean my only purchases for the first half of 2023 are the modular and I hope to have my mom and sister cover the sanctum sanatorium since my mom felt bad for shorting me in terms of gifts this year for Christmas with my birthday being 4 days before. Well, a way to make it up is you cover the one set I need to finish my back corner of my one modular row in my city since I already have the new jazz club covered.
Thank Maritn!!! I miss you on this platform! Either way... thank you again for everything in the box. Don't worry... your sigfig is hanging out with batman in my LEGO city.
Kinda why I backed away from my videos for a minute because I found myself doing more other things than enjoying the build but definitely learned I needed a dedicated place set up and I’m almost there now. Watch out 2023 :-)
Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Shy! My bday is 12/28, so I feel you on the presents lol. To me , haul videos are meh, but what I really love are your vlogs when you show your fam and life. Do more of those! Peace!
There are a lot of people who make videos just to show off what they bought and try to turn it into "content". Reviews and moc are one things, or to do tips on new elements you can order from bricks and pieces. I don't walk up to strangers and say "hey look I bought a new pair of shoes and a watch". The Lego I buy I buy for myself, I build for myself. Investing in things for yourself makes it more personal and I can appreciate it more. I can totally relate with you when it comes to overdoing it. When I got back into Lego I spent thousands of dollars and I still have sets from 5 years ago which are still sealed and yet I just purchased another set from Amazon today. I will probably (hopefully) never grow tiered of Lego but I have put the brakes on how much I spend. Now it's a fraction of what it used to be. It takes a load off from stress and anxiety knowing that I spent too much and almost risk covering all the bills.
You will always be a huge creator and loved in the Lego community. I never did the military something I learned for myself was the military was not for me. I really wanted to go in but it’s not me. I’m part of a military family and I felt I let them down but I found brickmania and that’s helped me. I get Lego is and has become way way more expensive. Love ya brother ❤
Honestly, I too have a LEGO addiction. However, it is kept in check because the idea of a home or living space being overrun by LEGO repulses me. So I will sell stuff off to keep the LEGO "creep" in check. Sometimes though, it means selling off sets I very much liked. Sold off Barracuda Bay, Death Star Final Duel, and the UCS Mos Eisley Cantina this month because of it. Really loved the Cantina. Never thought I'd part with it. Sometimes, it means passing on a new set I do not own because there is some set I do own that I like slightly more. Love the Inquisitor Transport Scythe. But I'll be passing on it unfortunately.
I don’t blame you shy for wanting to calm down on LEGO Hauls I can’t blame you i was also addicted to buying LEGO I only had 500 dollars in my bank account earlier in the year and I spent 457 dollars over the summer on just LEGO Star Wars and I was just making a hole bunch of haul videos to get views and more subscribers so I undertsand where you’re coming from on not buying so much LEGO it can really make you stress out a lot and loose it sometimes so good on ya for deciding to not upload as much haul videos shy.
I have bought less LEGO in general since the price hike in September. I usually buy bulk LEGO off goodwill with occasional bricklink orders because my local area isn't good, and it's pretty fun compared to sorting regular LEGO sets because I discover new pieces/sets I never knew about.
Fun is definitely the way I feel like the hobby should be. Cause like I don't make alot of content anymore cause it just wasn't that fun, I just wanted to build and create shit. So I understand
3:38 what you convinced her to buy both of those sets for you whahawha how did you do that what’s your charisma level 10? Is your speech level maxed out, We need to know we have to know shy.
Yeep I trying to not buy. The set s I don't really need. Which I never really did any way. So I all way s bean smart when it come s to what I buy. Add I do have few battle pack s kie s red car siting on desplay .wich adding to a moc build and two Yoda s. and rose flower set. I not opened. Beside s that..I prity good at controlling my salf to. Not just buy any set s.
As someone who is pretty new to the adult lego scene, its been interesting to see the various angles or kinds of interests people have in legos, but I do have to say the mega haul people kinda make me feel uncomfortable about it. I told my wife I was changing up hobbies because I needed something cheaper with more creative involvement. Yes, I know it can get expensive, and when I showed my wife some of these mega haul videos, I could see the concern on her face lol. I just wanted to show her the extreme. I think it actually helps keep it in perspective for me. I by no means have that level of interest, Im very selective and its mainly for certain kinds of MOCs. But its your money, your life, so do what you enjoy, and when it no longer brings you joy, go find something else that does.
Totally agree with every word you said. Never forget what makes you truly happy. Lego sets are produced to provide us with time of enjoyment and happiness. Never forget your own happiness and the happiness of your family dude. I'd like to take this opportunity in wishing you and your family and the rest of your subscribers a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. Take care.
I was born in 96 dude! Great work! Keep up the hard work! Can't wait to see the next one! btw can you tell me some ideas or websites you buy from? I'll send you if you want some websites I buy from as well if you want? Btw if you ever want to talk dude I'd love to talk Lego with you too! Also hope you had a great Christmas as well! I got for Christmas some food, a coin and also a Lego Star Wars Dark Troopers set! :D
Yep, can't be said enough, if the thrill is gone, what's the point? I have a small office and not a lot of space, so i am extremely picky about what i buy (four small Lego sets and one Brickmania set) Although i don't collect the castle theme, I do enjoy watching your vids of your Black Falcon army because you love it!
Honestly, I think a lot of went hard with our spending/collecting because of COVID and then we got used to it. I actually got tired of it for a lil while cause I was doing/caring about little else which made it sour. I have taken a break and I'm ready to start building again but I'm not gonna go crazy this time. Definitely not gonna watching all the utube vids/streams like I was. I need to get back to real life and keep it all balanced
Nice to see another veteran who enjoys lego. Very addicting and I buy a lot especially this past month and like you some sets just disappear into a closet. Hope one day I’m able to build every single one but space becomes a problem and lego keeps coming out with some amazing sets and for me sometimes some must have given I was born in 79 and the 80s sets just take my money. Lol.
This is a big part of what has kept me from making my own UA-cam channel. I already have a huge backlog of sets because I'm prepping to move to a new house and I don't ever want to get to the point where building and making content becomes an obligation. I would love to be able to make a little money out of my passion to ease the expense on lego but I'm just not sure if it's worth it.
Hi shy. I know how you feel. My birthday is January 7, 1969. I've been collecting Legos since 1879. I just found my first Lego minifig. A white Lego Space Figure. I lost the air tanks. Now I'm doing Templar and Crusader Knights. Btw I'm former Air Force. 1989. Air High Bro.
Bro, your on the right path. With Lego's price increases it makes it impossible for most folks to purchase this sets every UA-camr is putting vids out on. More personal, custom builds with already had pieces would be amazing. The fact that you have to buy every new Lego set to have fun sucks. Any way, get vid and thank you for all the hard work of giving back to the community is amazing and a belated Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I recently got into Legos and I got addicted to it. they didn't have this good quality Lego when we were kids but I completely understand. Keep punching out videos of whatever and we'll still watch your videos. My brother got whole room dedicated to Lego even his girlfriend is now saying it's enough now lol his birthday is on the 18th and of December and one eye on my brother and I the other eye on his girlfriend lol saying to her that was only four pieces of Lego that's it I swear. He's intermedieval theme set up. Personal note it just gives me something to do and think about especially love the military Lego brickmania punches out. Everyone needs a way to decompress their day.
At least you're for real, much of this type of content on youtube is fake ... meaning they order a bunch of stuff, record the video of their "haul", then when the video is done they put it back in the box and send it all back for a refund.
Less is more
Dang
Not when you need pieces to build a MOC
True words said by a great person!
100 percent I gotta start thinking about that and build some of the back log!
I've also stopped buying kits just to buy them. Now what I do is, I buy the kits that i most definitely want, and I buy more custom minifigs. Over collecting is a real thing lol
I support ya, I prefer unboxings of parts, honest reviews of sets
Now that was a lot of Lego. Awesome sets for your Birthday/Anniversary/Xmas 👍
Thank you for your service. You can't see it but I'm saluting you
Well said Shy, I also feel myself backing off from my lego addiction. It's very easy to get sucked in that's for sure. The FOMO is the hard part to beat. lol
AMAZING Epic Haul Vid!! Can't Wait For The Next One!
🤣🤣🤣

I was listening so much I didn’t realize until near the end it was a haul
🤣🤣🤣
hahaha I love it!
I don’t consume much youtube. So I’m glad you tagged me, as I sat and watched this all the way through. I enjoyed it. All of it. Nice work.
Thank Maritn!!! I miss you on this platform! Either way... thank you again for everything in the box. Don't worry... your sigfig is hanging out with batman in my LEGO city.

It's definitely a hard balance! Do what you love at the end of the day right? Happy New Years!
You are truly an amazing person, Shy. I'm so glad we became friends. 🙂
Thanks Hive!!! I appreciate you and your friendship. One of the true ones that I have in this space... And this year... we fill finally share a beer!
Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Shy! My bday is 12/28, so I feel you on the presents lol. To me , haul videos are meh, but what I really love are your vlogs when you show your fam and life. Do more of those! Peace!

Appreciate it! The military isn't for everyone and that's ok. These bricks do so much for our lives. Happy New Years!
Great video! I'mma start buying more of the sets I really enjoy, and less of those I buy just to collect and leave in the bin

Shout out for featuring the Brickslopes 2022 minifig in the video!
Hopefully I make it up this upcoming year.
@@SHYTIMEismyTIME will be looking forward to seeing you if you do! Its a great event!
I don’t like filming haul videos for similar reasons. Besides it’s easier for me to briefly talk about what i buy in livestreams instead
I've found myself doing the same thing. I'm gonna limit what I buy in 2023.
80’s kid myself & born 2 days after Christmas 👎 lol.
Congratulations on 10k man

All credit for stepping away from promoting the hobby of buying
I don’t really enjoy haul videos. I like reviews of certain sets and city content.

I guess you’re having a mini fig mid life crisis.
So in other words he’s going broke lol
My birthday is in December.
Would love to see the osprey form by
Completely feel you on the birthday near Christmas.
Haha then you know!!!
Video editing is top notch here…
Respect to your decision.
Can we see Landing craft
Great video !!
Fair well the haul….it’s been a blast - personally I think it’s a good thing for yourself, you’ll enjoy getting sets more. 😄😄
I'm also not doing any haul videos but because Lego is usually twice the US price here where I'm from

I think this is a smart move. I stoped buying lego (over $30). I only buy one or two sets a year.
Honestly, I think a lot of went hard with our spending/collecting because of COVID and then we got used to it. Merry Christmas and happy early birthday (I think) it’s always a sick haul video as always man but keep on making more hauls for 2023
Thanks for admitting you were being a fraud for clicks...

Mad respect for the honesty and breaking the toxic haul mentality. Excited to see where your videos go from here.
