    A "Master Class" on building a WWI kit. I cut my teeth on WWI aircraft, 50 years ago. But as soon as my modeling career started it ended with me going into the military. Now after that long sabbatical , I'm coming back. I can't even begin to tell you how much the hobby has changed. Thank you for this brilliant video on how "it's done".

    First model I remember building was a Sopwith Camel when I was a kid. It was just a cheap kit and I just quickly glued it all together and never painted it. I absolutely love this kit, so detailed and beautiful. I especially love the dark drown wood grain effect you did. I'm seriously thinking of getting this kit and revisiting the plane from my childhood. I won't do it justice like you, but would love to try.

    These WnW kits must be the best on the WW1 theme out there, just love how detailed they are and the build manual looks like a complete book on the subject of the kit.
    Also a very good video which is both enjoyable and instructional as well.

    Great job on Snipe! Only quibble is - fabric on WWI airplanes was treated with gloss dope, not flat.
    Also, the edge of the undersides of the wings are perfect! The dark brown overlapped the edges of the bottom of the wings on British aircraft!

I can't find a glue that will stay on the thread and stick to the model, especially painted without ruining the paint. The glue dries too fast or not fast enough. Thanks!

I try to follow all your suggestions ...wonderful! Furthermore please I'm going to use Vallejo color the percent of thinner remain the same?The IPa can be used only with Tamiya or also Vallejo?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  5 років тому

      Hi, IPA is isopropyl alcohol. Do not try it with Vallejo paints. I use it with only Tamiya or Gunze acrylics. I did not use Ez line for general rigging on this model because that's flat wire used on the original plane. But of course you can use it for overall rigging.

    I notice you have two different methods for wood effects. 1) the Ecoline, clear yellow, clear orange. 2) the watercolor pencil and the yellow calligraphy ink. How do you decide what method you use? Do you use any other colors of Ecoline other than yellow ochre (since I need to order it online). What colors of weather color pencil do you use? In addition to Windsor Yellow ink, do you use any other color? I need to order that too. Maybe sepia? Thanks for the video.

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  7 років тому

      Actually i am still trying to find the best way with water colors. This video is slightly older. Did you see this ? ua-cam.com/video/mfF4tb92xt8/v-deo.html This is newer and better. I have only these paints what you see on videos. But i want to try yellow and golden yellow Ecoline too when i find :) Sepia is very good wash for figures, leather effect and washing clear/sensitive parts without risk. Because it's cleaning with water. I recommend it. Just need more practice before use. It doesn't work like mineral spirit based washes.
