THE TRIBES OF MANIPUR

There are 33 recognized tribes living in Manipur, which belong to either the Nagas or the Kukis. Manipur is a state in India located in the northeastern part of the country. It is bordered by Nagaland to the north, Assam to the west, Mizoram to the southwest, and Myanmar (Burma) to the south and east. The name Manipur means "the land of jewels".
