Served with Toby in Afghan, absolute top bloke and he exudes all the qualities of a Bootneck particularly Determination and cheerfulness is the face of adversity 🙌🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
A lot of things to think about from this one, a feeling this podcast often leaves me with. What a brilliant man and Thankyou Chris for introducing him to people. So many lessons
Can't tell you how many times that amazing blokes story made my hair stand on end and bought a tear to the eye. What an inspiration that man is. I admire the RM's so much, and unfortunately I lost a great friend of mine who was a bootkneck a couple of years ago who was like a hero to me and what he'd been through, rest easy Royal 🙏. And Chris, keep up the good work mate, an inspiration your self bud.
WOW, Toby Gutteridge what a top a bloke and a incredible humble guy, typical S.F. I will defo get a hold of his book as he a story to tell, plus love all the Bootneck banter from now and back in the day as it’s never will change ! Thanks to the both of you for this podcast, keep up the good work matey. Utrinque Paratus Tony
F*** M* 😳 I am only half way through, and already with my few problems I am feeling good! What a super positive and super humble guy Toby is! Cheers Chris❤️❤️❤️ looking forward to the rest later on! That put's any of my bad days to bed forever, Now I see why you say smile at the morning Sun and be thankful! 🙏🙏🙏
There are not enough words to express just how inspiring.Toby’s bravely through adversity Is incredible. I served for just under 6 years and was medically discharged. When you leave the military it’s like you’ve never been in! Men like Toby should be fully supported for life through this government as they do in America and should not be relying on charity. I’ve pre-ordered Toby’s book and regularly donate to H4H. Thank you Chris for the podcast and highlighting hero’s like Toby.
Wow seeing Toby's resilience! Never will I moan or feel sad again! Talk about never quite and get on with it no matter the issue, what an inspirational person guy Toby is!👊👍❤️ Such wise words!🙏 Get him back again!❤️
Extraordinary show, thankyou for this one,the true strength of human spirit, very moved by this story, thanks again, peace love and massive respect H&JXx, 🌼✌️
Bloody hell. Just discovered these Podcasts. Didn't know what one was until a few days ago. Massive respect to you lads. Had to deal with cancer but that is fuck all really. A flesh wound in comparison, a shot in the arm I suppose, but waking up from the surgery with lots of tubes in my body was interesting. Very lucky though, only stage two and still here seven years later. Live each day lads.
What an amazing interview! I got amazing vibrations from this video. I will definitely be purchasing some of your merch and book, Toby. Likwise with your books, Chris. Keep being awesome, Toby and Chris💪😁
His confidence should be in not just his achievements post injury but also that he has such humanity, self-awareness and insight, which is sadly lacking in so many. Awesome podcast, the concept of marrying the Bravery brand with the spirit and soul of this guy is both apt and class.
Awesome podcast Toby, truly inspiring. Massive respect 🙏 to you, you should be very proud of what you have overcome and achieved. It was an emotional thing to watch, thank you for sharing your story. Thank you Chris and Toby.
Great podcast chaps. I've just ordered the book Toby, a years waiting time so I'm guessing that the MOD are playing silly buggers. BZ you magnificent geezer.
I read Christopher Reeve`s book that he released following his coming to terms with his new life upon becoming a quadriplegic. Christopher, like any of us, also experienced a very similar post trauma journey as Toby articulates very movingly. Like Toby, Christopher was very healthy, he looked after his body and was multi talented. Upon considering suicide, it was his wife (who is now also deceased) who simply said to him, `Chris, you are still you`. Thus the name of his book was titled `Still Me`. Toby, you are still Toby Guttridge, and, if possible, even better than you were prior to your injury. As a trained therapist myself and someone who has experienced difficult times and dark thoughts, talking about things really is a positive thing that only helps immensely and not the opposite as many seem to think. Much respect to both of you. I am sorry to hear that you were not physically and mentally robust enough to wear a RAF `blue lid`, but there are limits to what most of us can achieve in life! A few of my mates from SA (I grew up there) joined the Paras and Marines. They managed it without a UK passport - but came away with one. Under the current WEFism in UK / Europe, SA looks ever more attractive again - all of a sudden.
Utter respect to you, Toby. How are you coping? Do you have 24 hr care (you must have) and is the Govt paying for it, or do you have to rely on various charities? If the latter, that’s a shocking indictment on the UK Govt system. Mate, all the very best for your future. 🤗
To be fair the 7.62 was not 100% of a stopper, it also used to go straight through and did very strange things. But the SA80 when it first came out was a disgrace, magazine would fall off, it needed extra work when making it "ready" the slightest crap and it would jam; the sight however was good. It took the Germans (H&K) to sort it out. Which General allowed it to come into service ?
