For folks that want an even cheaper alternative...stuff old clothes in a box about 12"x12"12". I learned this from Aaron Cantrells channel. This stops slugs from my .30 cal Impact.
Yes, this one. The most affordable pellet trap. This solution too can even stop bigger heavier Slug I'm shooting .30 cal, 68grains slug at 980 fps, it just stop completely.
Hi awesome video what I was looking for question though I live in Canada and my air guns all shoot under 500 fps would the pellet penetrated the plastic cover
I'm liking that rubber mulch stuff, I'll track some down local if I can. Yeah 10m shooting is addictive for sure. I have a 10m range indoors and totally have a blast with an SNR 357 while the rain falls outside 👍 Great video again Jon. Drew Late edit: top tip - rats make great pellet traps.
Good video. Short and sweet and to the point. Coincidentally, I'm building mine today: tote, mulch, no foam, just cardboard target backing and taped-on targets. I wouldn't want the clipboard material up front like that, and certainly not the metal clip. He's assuming he won't ever hit either, and he probably won't. I don't trust my shooting that well yet, and wouldn't want the ricochet potential, or the sound of those hits to float off into the neighborhood.
Now this is a useful video fr. Not only do you say what YOU set up to stop pellets but if I can't find anything, I at least have a decent idea of how much stuff I'll need to stop a pellet.
I like the clipboard idea. Simple is always better. My indoor target is a cardboard box About 21x21x4 filled with about 20 sheets of 20x20 cardboard. My pump up 1322 goes through about ten sheets. Your target is obviously more weather resistant than my cardboard box. I might have to build one like it. I can ride around the neighborhood on trash day and find a plastic bin like that for fee and fill the bin with sheets of cardboard for free. I have a couple of clipboards. I steal some of my best ideas. Thanks John Davis Jax Fl
Ive heard of this setup before it looks pretty effective! I wanted to make one to replace my non water proof pellet traps but couldn't find the rubber mulch locally... _(Maybe it was not gardening season 😅)_
Funny, was at Home Depot today getting stuff for myself. I did a box like yours but filled it with concrete. After it dries in going to use rubber and then cut out the lid and have cardboard behind the lid and then hang the target from the lid. The concrete 1' deep should stop higher power
I'm 6.99 for the bucket. 3.99 for the concrete. Then maybe 5.00 for one of those yoga pad sections I can buy at 5 and below. Heavy, small, and not as nice as yours.😂
@@Wingman115 my V10 is only been with me for 3 weeks but I already have 2000 rounds through it. Loves the R10 Match pellets since they are light quality pellets and these pistols don’t have a lot of power. Wish there was more about how to maintain these, next to nothing on line.
I built a 5” deep box with plywood, using a high-density foam kneeling pad ($15) for a “backstop”. I then cut up a bath mat (the non-slip kind with a rubber backing) and put a piece of cardboard in front of that to keep pellets inside. I shoot pellet pistols at ten yards no NOTHING has penetrated the mat. The foam pad is untouched. I get maybe one or two pellets out of a hundred that pop out of the box.
I came up with the same concept. I found that my old bed pillows placed inside a plastic tote stops the pellets and bbs, while making it possible to reuse your ammo. The pellets and bbs 99.9 percent of the time do not penetrate the pillows.
Should be! Maybe add a few old pair of jeans under it to make sure (Been shooting at old clothes & cardboard pellet trap indoor and never had an issue)

Yes no problem. Most of my 10 meter pistols are under 500 fps and they go right through.
Hey, Man! Loved this video. Thanks for putting it together and showing us how you made your trap. Much appreciated!
Your welcome. Hope it helps out and gets you back yard shooting.

Love it, turned out nice and it's quiet 🤫 Cheers

Haha, Anyone notice the lizard doing pushups at 3:14? I'm going to build something similar for my son's airsoft setup. Great video!
I'm trying to find it. Where in the frame is it?

Could be. Here in San Diego it’s always gardening season. Lol thanks for watching.

If the lead is going to hit the concrete, then it'll be much louder than the rubber mulch. Not to mention much heavier to move around.
Good idea Jon
👍🏻👊🏻
Great trap and I am also addicted to my V10 new purchase. Keep well
Keep me posted how it’s holding up for you.

Wow, that's really nice! Thanks for sharing!

I got the gamo compact. Same as your v10
We need to do a shoot off once I get this bad boy dialed in.
Very efficient setup.
Great demonstration Jon! Next time you and Dana get out you should take it along and test it for how much FPE the target and stop could handle!
That’s a great idea! Thanks my friend.
Hey what do you know I got you on this one Gman ! Even I get lucky sometimes ! Lol

These traps are said to be good up to a 22lr

Nice i didn’t think of that. What i did was pack a Amazon box with old tube socks and that stops my 22 umarex Strike Point at 11 yards
👍🏻👊🏻
Very cool. Thanks
I think you did a great job. Only problem I see is that you’re having to change out the cardboard backing fairly frequently.
Man thanks for the tip. I will be on this today.!
Damn! That is ingenious! Thanks
Plumbers putty work well to instead of duct seal.

Could you use cardboard layered in the box?? For a 177
I imagine you could. But it would wear out rather quickly.
Thank you I'll give it a go have some old bedding so will put that in between the cardboard.
@@itsonlyme7270 The rubber mulch was really cheap at Home Depot I believe I payed less than 7 or 8 dollars for a huge bag.

I have 3 of them.
2 have steel plates behind the rubber for big cal air rifles

I will keep my non waterproof cardboard and old clothes pellets traps a bit I guess 😢
