Great tone and soulful. Thanks for making these. Nothing new for a while, I'm hoping you can find time to give us something new, maybe during Christmas break.
@@bluesbaby8 Well, I've been playing blues since Robert Johnson was in nappies and I still marvel at talent. It's like being a kid again when I see and hear a performance that inspires me. Lately, it's gypsy jazz that's keeping me up at nights. How those musicians play that way is utterly astonishing. Keep up the excellent work.j
@@mmojorissen Thanks! I am not quite sure what backing track I used for "Mellowed Out." I recorded that a few years ago and I can't quite remember. I listen to Wes once in a while, but I listen more to Ron Eschete, Charlie Christian, and others when it comes to jazz guitarists.
Seems like you've migrated more into the jazz genre. I heard some diminished arpeggios during that improv. YOu've definitely invested some serious time in practicing. YOu're very good! Have you listened to "Johnny Smith," "Danny Gatton," or "Steve Trovato?" All on youtube. Sounds like you were born with the guitar in your hand- glad I came across you. I was listening to some "HENDRIX" when I noticed you covered a version of "Killing Floor." CooL!!!
Thank you for your nice words! I have actually been playing jazz for over a decade. I've listened to Danny Gatton a bit and I've listened to Johnny Smith here and there. I am not familiar with Steve Trovato. I mainly listen to horn or piano players. There's only a handful of guitarists I listen to.
@@bluesbaby8 Coltrane, Davis, Parker?? Whatever ur method... you really are AMAZING!!! AND what a Beautiful voice!! U should consider playing the Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, RI- Happens every summer. U must have been born with guitar in hand. So smooth and tasteful!!!
@@bluesbaby8 WOW... I don't even recognize some of those names- thank you for the education. I listened to you playing with a brass jazz ensemble- ur improv was Flawless "Ear Candy!!" What you're doing is on another level altogether. It's beyond what most can mentally absorb. However, jazz was once the "Rock" or "Pop Music" of its day. mmojorissen Gosh, well, thank you again! It is quite generous of you to say all these kind and encouraging words regarding my music. In terms of who I listen to, I guess you could say I tend to listen to some artists who are off the beaten path. 🙂 And yes. Too bad jazz isn’t as popular as it once was.
@@bluesbaby8 However you learned/learn, whoever you listen to, etc. certainly has proven to be to ur advantage and the best personal formula. Ur rekindling a fire that's been low on fuel for decades. Hello Alicia, over many years I know your possibilities to play excellent guitar and its good you try the Jazz ... pls. excuse if I say, I more prefer and like your BLUES ! It's only a spontaneous feedback and very subjective from an old Bluesfan! ... smile
Hi Guenther, That's cool. To each his own. While I love the blues, I also like to be multifaceted and expand my horizons by playing various genres. For instance, I've actually been playing jazz for over a decade. P.S. It seems to me that you like jazz sometimes since you liked my Count Basie video. ;) Perhaps what you're referring to here is jazz fusion.
Dear Alicia, Thanks for your feedback. It may be that I did not express myself concretely enough. I just wanted to tell you that all in all, I like to hear your improvisations, but I'd rather have you play the blues! I also like jazz in its many forms, including jazz fusion, which we usually called "jazz rock" in the late '60s and' 70s. So I still like and like my old vinyl LP from Weather Report, Chick Corea, Miles Davies ... also Blood, Swet and Tears or John Mc Laughlin and others. So also we have in Germany musicians playing jazz-rock like Volker Kriegel and Wolfgang Dauner. Last musician (piano) has been co-founder of our well known band "United Jazz and Rock Ensemble". I have been on her concerts 2 times in the 70th. They have made many albums. I give you one link to hear this band! ... Over the years I more and more came to the Blues - but this you know. Please go on to find your way with different styles of music, my dear friend! I always enjoy to hear you and see you playing your different guitars! Hoping you have a good time over summer! Bye bye for today ... Günther ;o))
Smooth, complex and well executed. Nicely done.
Thank you, Don, for your kind words. Your comment meant a lot to me - I appreciate it!
@@bluesbaby8 So when you finally get booked at SXSW we'll have to meet up for a jam session while you're in the neighborhood. :)
Superb
Thanks so much!
