Casanova was a grand seducer but also conman and actor and dreamed of being a nobleman and through his spiel managed to meet and befriend people of aristocracy and seduced many women in these circles. To a successful degree, his thing worked. That's what made him a world phenomenon. The son of an actress, he made his life the stage, chose the play and played his role.

I guess the deepest emptiness and unsafe in the soul/inner world drives him to behave crazily and dramatically.
