Jeremy, I know this has nothing to do with this vid but I just happened to see your post in the community about the loss of your beloved cat. I have lost a couple and have cried a great deal. It is so hard losing one of your kids. I now have 7 and were all rescue. I love them all very dearly and all have different personalities. I just want to share my condolences and really believe that you will see your beloved at the rainbow bridge one day, your cat companion will be waiting. GOD bless.............

Excellent review and comparison Jeremy! The CT-S400 and the LK-S450 do come with a lot of important features and functions at this price point.
    Key features:-
    1. Both the Casio CT-S400 and the LK-S450 come with 61 full-size keys touch sensitive keys with the latter featuring a key lighting system as well.
    2. The two keyboards come with 600 AiX-powered Tones that are grouped into 14 categories, making it easier to select them.
    3. Some of the voice control options found on the Casio CT-S400 and the LK-S450 are split and dual options, in which the volume mix can be adjusted, unlike the earlier Casiotones.
    4. Both the keyboards come with an in - built sustain option that helps you sustain your notes without a sustain pedal.
    5. The Casio CT-S400 and the LK-S450 also come with 100 arpeggiator patterns that are useful for playing piano arpeggios, and 12 harmony effects that make the melodies sound richer.
    6. Both the keyboards come with 200 accompaniment rhythms grouped into 15 categories. Each rhythm comes with an intro and an ending, 2 variations and 2 rhythm fills. You can also load up 10 user created rhythms.
    7. The Casio CT-S400 and the LK-S450 also come with a chord detection modes.
    8. With the optional WU-BT10 Bluetooth MIDI/audio adapter, the two keyboards can be connected wirelessly to your favorite devices such as iPads or Laptops to control them via MIDI.
    9. The Casio CT-S400 allows you to store 32 voices for easy recall whereas the LK-S450 comes with a lesson feature instead.
    Cons:-
The transitions between the rhythms are not as smooth as the competition and neither of them have an in built Bluetooth Midi feature.
Overall, both the keyboards are excellent beginner keyboards for those who intend to play their favorite songs with accompaniment rhythms without sacrificing on the sound quality and portability.

Hi Jeremy....Been waiting for your review, and it was well worth the wait! As you pointed out, Casio makes it difficult to choose with feature variants. Seems we can never get it all. Would have really liked to have seen Audio via USB, I'm sure Casio will get there in the near future. None the less, these boards sound killer good. The AIX Chip is fantastic. I play an old Yamaha P80, the key action is great, but the tones leave a lot to be desired. Though I'll probably replace the Yamaha with a Roland FP-60X, I will absolutely pick up the CT-S400, as soon as it becomes available here in the USA. It just seems like so much fun, and with easy portability, great for backyard playing when I put down the guitar. Thanks so much for your unbiased reviews, terrific job as always! PS...Do you have any recommendations for small affordable Keyboard Amps. I'm curious about Peavy and Behringer. I've had Roland Amps in the past.

It's amazing to see an LK keyboard with the AiX engine coming to North America, and pretty much everywhere else. I was so disappointed that we never had a key-lighting keyboard in the CT-X range. Japan got all of those and yet we had to suffer through the outdated AHL engine, which a lot of fans (inclusing me as well) didn't like, and the fact that the LK-280 has been the latest more-advanced key-lighting keyboard for a long time is just sad, but now the wait is _finally_ over. THANK YOU CASIO!

Hey there! I am looking to FINALLY jump in and begin learning piano. I figured a keyboard was a good place to start being that it won't take up alot of room. Specifically I am looking at a Casio as I like the idea of the light up keys that wait for your input to "teach" you the songs. My question is this:
I can get either the LK s250 or the LK s450 "for free" from work (a points system that you earn). What is the biggest difference between the two? I mostly will be using it with headphones plugged in so I am not bothering my family at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, Jeremy. I would really like to see a video about "why someone should buy a CT-S1 or a CT-S400." I'm not really needing the rhythms and such, but are there some reasons to get the S1 over the S400, otherwise? Thanks!

I've likely watched nearly every video you've posted on the Casio's and Yamahas in the $100 - $400 range. AM hoping to learn piano, but also am interested in production/recording/editing with NO previous experience at all. I love that the Yamaha PSR E373 and EZ300 have usb midi that serves as internal audio interface, and the rec n share app for quality vid/audio recording n sharing on the fly, but I am still torn. I have a TINY apartment and the casios are more compact for inside setup/storage. I also have heard amazing things about the Casio CS T1, especially the sound and keyboard bed quality, but it seems to be so minimalist offering no opportunity to dip feet into creating/production. I AM impressed by. the EZ300 lighted keys, but also think the Casio LK S450 could give me the compact size, nice matte keyboard feel you mention (though NOT as nice 'almost semi weighted feel' of CS T1.... THen, there's the48 vs 64 polyphony (which I don't even know if I'll miss or need at my current level) and the pitch wheel only on the casio ct s400.... Finally, I have seen hints on line merchants that the PSR 373 may be discontinued? Are you aware of any interesting new releases on deck for either of these brands, in the same categories and price points? Finally, do you think the Casio Ct S400 without the lit keys has sufficient on board lesson features? Does it even matter if it's on board, since I can use chordana or other apps, especially easily on the Casio with the optional bluetooth adaptor.
Ugggh... I am SO confused. Mostly, I want to be able to learn on a beautiful sounding keyboard that doesn't feel cheap, that has some mixing, editing, recording features so I can have a 'jam session' with my brother, with me playing acoustic/NON electric guitar, him playing keyboard and each of us singing, then do some recording and tweaking of it all either w Yamaha's built in midi functionality and garage band, or adding an audio interface like Focusrite, or other.
LOVE your reviews...Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again

For learning to play piano, I find Casio CT-S500 best. For jamming, making beats and having fun all night until 5 am and making synth sounds I prefer Roland JD-Xi. I have both and love both. Two great devices, both very inspiring and fun.
But if you want only one keyboard, try Roland Juno DS (better synth engine, but simple sequencer) or Korg EK50 (simpler sound, but arranger features).

I was curious what the Casio CT-S400 looked from the underside. I wanted to see if had rubber feet, pads, or something. I want to get a table top stand, but don't want the Keyboard sliding all over the place. I've grown to really dislike X-Stands. I want a quick setup for playing outside in the backyard. When you showed the location for the Guitar Straps, I could see there are rubber feet, which is great. I plan on pre-ordering one of these next week, and hope that Yamaha doesn't come out with a Killer PSR-E473, the next day. You know how that goes! LOL!!

Hi Jeremy very nice demonstration I watched you while having breakfast 🥞 🍳
I wonder how you managed to get these keyboards as there aren’t any demonstration videos from Casio themselves, on the Casio forum Mike Martin said they were due in June...
The CT-S400 seems like a more portable version of the CT-X800 with some severe flaws amended, on top of which the addition of a mixer feature, it was about time!
I don’t agree with you about rhythms of other brands being better. I positively love the rhythms of the CT-X range and of the new CT-S400 and LK450. I know about several people who bought a CT-X3000 despite its cumbersome user interface just for its rhythms and the ability to edit them.
What I have found with the CT-X800, though, is that you have to use the rhythm controller quite differently than on Yamaha E series, for instance. On the Yamaha’s, the fills will be triggered automatically when you go from variation A to variation B, whereas on the Casio’s you have to trigger the fills by yourself. This means that if you forget (or don’t want) to push the fill-in button before you switch to a different rhythm variation, the transition won’t be smooth. But if you use the fills-in correctly, I personally find the result to be better than on the Yamaha’s. Another problem with Yamaha is that the same old styles have been around for the last fifteen years or so. Thoroughly boring.
One should not compare the CT-S1 with the CT-S400 IMHO. The sound quality is best on the CT-S1, which is not an arranger keyboard but rather a highly portable, fun little keyboard with great sounds. Professional musicians can envisage the CT-S1 as a second keyboard, for gigging on the beach or practising in a hotel room for instance. Although it has more functionalities, no professional musician in his own right would envisage to use a CT-S400 IMHO.
On the other hand, the CT-S400 is probably the perfect home keyboard for beginners or people who simply want to get creative and have fun making music.
I also don’t agree with you about the onboard MIDI recorder. I find it quite useful and use it for a number of compositions and arrangements on the CT-X800. Not everybody wishes to be glued on a laptop while playing keyboard.
It would be great, if you can, to make a comparison video between the CT-X700/800, the CT-S400 and the PSR E373. In particular, what do you think of the keybed of the CT-S400 as compared with that of the CT-X700/800? I also wonder if you would rather recommend the CT-S400 or the PSR E373 to your students as a learning board.
Have a nice Sunday with your family 😎🌈

Hey Jeremy, Iam looking for something portable as Casio CT-s300, with the lesson mode, (redlighted keys) also bluetooth and possibility to save settings different settings I can easily switch between playing a song or during a song.
Possibility to split keyboard for at least two instruments also.
I didn't get all the differences between S400 and S450, cause i was thinking there will be some summary of it, (I havent taken notes)
One more factor is important for me possibility to change pitch from 440 to 444 or 432, and there is a question, if I do so.
All the salsa and other tunes that are being saved inside the memory will they transpose to 444 or other frequency I choose or is it always 440.
I must say I really like the sound of the Medeli m331 and for vibing purposes, but the lesson mode in here and bluetooth option seems to be quite interesting as well.
Also I don't know if the sound of this casiotone is driving me more than Casio S300 and Medeli m331.

Hello Jeremy! thanks for videos like this one. I have a question about Organ presets on Casio keyboards (I purchased the Casio Ct-X5000 a year ago). I've just come from playing Yamaha keyboards where the organ presets had touch sensitivity, but on my ct-x the organ presets have no sensitivity at all. no matter you press the keys soft or hard. the sound has the same volume. But it only happens on organ sounds.
    1) I want to know if it is a keyboard problem.
    2) All Casio models come without sensitivity in the organ presets?
    3) Does a real organ (hammond) have sensitivity?
All this has me very confused because I use organ sounds a lot with my band, and I cannot play with dynamics due to this particular situation.
I hope you can help me .
