The original beat was created by Rich Mullins, a Christian artist, for the song "Screen Door". It was later used as game (ZOOM), then as an accompanying beat for songs (Lulu & the Lampshades - When I'm Gone). The beat was featured in the movie, Perfect Pitch.

I have learned about the cup game from "Zoom" on TV, now, I have realized that to me, this game has been revived... thanks to Anna Kendrick and her fantastic song; "Cups".

I knew this BEFORE Pitch Perfect.... And I know the ORIGINAL group who came up with this. This version is a lilt toe different than than the original. She added some stuff. But this is a great tutorial and and glad I learned it :).

to me in rhythm and everything
Me and some friends from school sat for an hour doing this! We managed to do it really fast in a round and passing the cups round to each other :D

Omg, I love this, my friend taught my other friends and me how to do it. I really wanted to learn how to do this because it looked fun, and because I felt I should know how to do it because I am a drummer. Who knows, maybe it will help my rhythm. help my rhythm
Let's just clear this up. It is the cup game. It used to be just a game that kids played until these two girls on YT did the cup game to the song "When I'm gone" Which was a song from the 1930's which was later covered by Lulu and the Lampshades.
tpday for morning meeting at skol we watched this video and did it with the 7th and 8th graders!!! hahha it was amazing!!
I learned this many years ago at church camp. This weekend my brother and I figured out how to do it backwards in rhythm.
Yes indeed she is the master I learned this in 5th grade so that was in 2009. But I forgot so I wanted to remember this, this was my favorite thing back then.
Took me 3 hours, but i got it, with the CUP SONG!! :D

For all of you who are saying it's called the cup song well it is known as the cup song, beat, and game. It's been a game for quite a while so yes you are correct but the others are too.

Whoever knocks their cup over, has to fill their cup with alcoholic beverage, and drink it before the game goes on.
