The first time I saw them was Wheeltappers June 1976. Tommy sang He Ain't Heavy. And when he carried Bobby off there wasnt a dry eye in our house. I was recovering from surgery and allowed to stay up late. Paul Daniels the magician was also on the same show. Thank you Paul for bringing back happy memories.
The first time my mother (RIP) saw Cannon and Ball she pointed at the TV and exclaimed ‘Eeee, little Bobby Harper!’ Turns out they had worked together in the mills. Funny blokes. RIP Bobby.
Thanks for the entertainment through my childhood bobby. I'm going to get the pics i took of me & my wife & you & tommy. It was a pleasure to have met you both after meeting up after the show at the burnley mechanics. I'll miss our chats on messenger 😢 A pleasure to have called you a friend. Rest in peace bobby.
Thanks for all of your content. Is been in touch with Network DVD to get series 8 and 9 released and they were always dismissive. Having series 9 and the 86 and 88 Xmas specials...plus their 88 special is brilliant. Can't thank you enough. Great content
Very funny when they first came out. Great entertainment which continued long after they became household names. Clever act and well put together. 👏👏👏👏
What I find strange is that they said that the 'rock on Tommy' thing came from David Essex, but this was way before they ever had David Essex on their own show.
Before they were ever heard of by media and the general public, they got a spot at the Batley variety club. They were bottom of the bill and probably a filler act but it would have been seen as a big move up to them. I was on a works 'do that night and everyone thought they were brilliant - so much so, we were all saying 'rock on Tommy the next day at work. Much to the bemusement of workmates that weren't there.

Hi Sarah, I think someone else has already uploaded the full episodes.
does anyone know what the song Tommy is singing at the beginning?
Summertime from the musical Porgy & Bess, by Gershwin.
What year is this?
1974 ish
About 1970
It was 1976
Who sang the first song 🤔
The Platters - My Prayer
@@adrianbarnes3674 Thank you
Saw them live, was word for word from TV show a week earlier... they were lost without a script. Little and large were much better at comedy.
i miss the great old days before diversity destroyed our once great country
Bobby Ball looked like a more modern day Charlie Chaplin.
of its time I suppose
bit too 'northern' for my liking😐but RIP bobby all the same
One word. Hair

So glad we've moved on from all that racism.
