The girls snuck out of the burning car physically unscathed but their mum didn't see them. They got away and were rescued by a couple of townspeople who were unaffected by The Hum. The girls are both safe and sound living with their grandparents.
Yup. That's the ending I "saw" and I'm sticking to it👌🏻.
Me too!!!
@@recoveringmytruth8162 Such a happy ending for the little'uns🤗
I hear you, too depressing to think otherwise…
They started doing the sos signal with the car horn and neighbors rescued them
LMAO, u should b a writer.
It is incredibly difficult to find decent child actors and you found two. Those kids did everything right. They left immediately and they hid in the car because it was freezing cold and raining. I understand their choice. We don't know if they stayed in the vehicle or made a run for it. This was one of the most disturbing horror shorts I've seen thus far. I love kids and I'll be processing that for a while. Well done. ❤
Thank you kindly!
everything but the acting at first part
If you think these kids did amazing (because they did!) you should watch
“A Fathers Day” and “Safe Haven” on Alter.
Those kids were really amazing too
EXACTLY
Haha, those kids had zero emotion, stop sucking up. The only thing they did right was shiver. 😂😂
"...something came out of the fog and tried to destroy us. In one moment, it vanished. But if this has been anything but a nightmare, and if we don't wake up to find ourselves safe in our beds, it could come again. To the ships at sea who can hear my voice, look across the water, into the darkness. Look for the fog..."
Where is this quote from?
@@ilovecats4208 they come from Stevie Wayne in the great film The Fog by master John Carpenter! The ending of this beautiful short film brought my mind back to that very film! It would indeed be nice to see the sequel to this short, what happens from that cube emerging from the fog...
@@PrimitiveInTheExtreme And there will be!!
@@PrimitiveInTheExtreme thank you so much!
Yes, I enjoyed this short very much and think it has the potential to be a feature length film. Amazing from start to finish. I wonder if the cube has something to do with affecting people's minds? I'm left with so many questions!
Thank you for the quote, I really liked it. I was hoping it was from a book as I love to read but I'll be keeping my eye out for the movie. :)
@@rodblackhurst that's great news! I look forward to it!
Did we all watch the same film? I don't get the ending. The blurry camera moves across the water to reveal some sort of square structure. Then the film ends. Seems like some people in here are either paid to leave positive comments or are close friends leaving good feed back. Can someone be respectful and explain this unclear ending to the confusing story. Thank you in advance.
It's the cold open for a feature film...the film will explain everything in due time.
Impeccable filmmaking. Child actors were brilliant!
Now that was scary. Not sure about the ending but I felt for those poor girls. How terrifying.
The lack of dialogue, the extended cuts. Terrifying and very well done.
Brilliant film on every single aspect. So much work, thought and realism built into the mindsets of the children, their actions, and the deranged mother. The setting, score and lighting were perfect! This is real horror
Thank you so darn much. Feels good to have our intentions be seen.
This is creepy I love my Alter in the mornings!
The sound design is awesome
As....designed!
One of the more predictable endings in an Alter shorts, yet left me in shock and unsettled at the end.
Damn
Mission accomplished then. Thank you for watching and commenting!
The rain, the soundtrack, the actors, the darkness, the room... ALTER😍👍😱
The music definitely heighten the intensity of the situation. @5:41 When the two girls are hiding under the porch deck, you can hear the sliding door open by their lunatic mother. How? Didn't the little girl open the sliding door so that they can escape outside? I don't remember either one of them turning around and closing it.
This short make me realize when your parents become the monsters it is more scary than any ghosts or demons!!!
The young actress is PHENOMENAL!!!!👍👍👍
She really is/was!
WELL WELL WELL, this epic horror really ALTERED my mind. Thank you guys, keep coming for more 🔥🔥🔥
Ok, that was brutal…so well done. Terrifying.
The Borg is here….
wow...what 2 gems of little actresses you found! i actually was cold when they were shivering in the car for them! and it's like 90degrees where I'm at! That's pretty good! :) - I'd like to think since the girls looked like this wasn't their first rodeo with this, they've been in the car before, and perhaps maybe the 1st time the mom torches it, they are very resourceful and I'd like to think snuck out the front passenger door and ran to a neighbors to hide away maybe let's say in a tree house...yeah, with fresh dry clothes and blankets too :) Thanks for a great short!
ALTER!! your freaking AMAZING!!
Very well thought out and delivered.
Bravo & well done.
I’ve been binging this channel since I found it a couple weeks ago and this was one of the best shorts I’ve seen so far. Halfway through I realized I was in such suspense that I had my hands tightly clasped together lol. Really well done, brilliant young ladies that played the children!
That was disturbingly scary, I hope those little girls made it out but they probably didn't, Thanks ALTER !🥺👍
DEAR ALTER:
thank you for many horror short film im watching almost all of your film now .. 🥰 i love it... this is what im doing before going to sleep... watching horror alone. 🤗
To be fair, it's pretty hard to set a metal car on fire from the outside with petrol...in the rain. Since metal doesn't serve as very good kindling, and gasoline or even oil would quickly burn-out or get washed away. So while traumatic and terrifying, they're probably fine. Mum just lost her mind, mudered dad, got witnessed by the children who she then tried to burn alive, ended up in a loony bin for life, and the children suffered PTSD for life...ya'know...they're fine.
So you're saying the kids are alright??
This is a masterpiece, loved it!
got me from beginning til end: perfect pace, tension & atmosphere here :)
Thank you!!
Definitely excellent as a proof of concept!
I think where people are getting frustrated is that there's clearly more story here to be had. But, the point of a proof is to not give everything away in one snapshot, but to instead whet the appetite.
That was done quite well here.
Thank you! I feel seen.
Wow. Steady fan but absolutely stunned by this performance. Please tell those young ladies they did a stellar job.
That was excellent filming. Love the long shot! Both kids were great. Why did it turn into Star Trek at the end?
Amazing sounds, amazing shots, so much filmed in one take. Very hard to do
Thank you kindly!
Really enjoyed this and could clearly see, towards the end, as I hadn't read the description, it was a conceptual piece.
I hope the project is fully realised.
Kudos to everyone involved, the girls in particular, and thanks for uploading!
This was Horrifying. Amazing. I want more, please. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don’t know why, but this short makes me think of postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis, but years after having the kids because it was never treated in the beginning.
Don't quite get why the girls chose entering the car... It was pretty obvious they will be found there. In reality, they would have had ran to the forest or the neighbors
Cosmic horror as it's finest leaves the audience guessing since human mind can't comprehend the horrors of the cosmos
a backroom short film or series made by you would be so fire
Another amazing video from alter, love the rain sound effect really relaxing man
Thank you so much.
@@rodblackhurst your welcome 😁
Oh this was so scary! I wish it was longer.
Whoa! Talk about intense!
Crazy how most short films are better than most movies lol
(Except for Morbius)
Is it Morbin time??
I wished that I was good at making horror films. Keep up the good work
Alter never disappoints
Excelente. Por favor den opción para traducción por lo menos para los comentarios.
chilling. I think for me the most disturbing part is the monster is a possibility in this life
Awesome. Rainy weather here also
Ireccomend to watch this while headphones in
,so terrific
Swift, short & brutal with minimal set-up & economic dialogue. Great work. What was the symbol on the TV about, please?
Beautiful work. 😁😁😁😁👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you kindly!
Holy wow but this was good. It started with what looked like a run in the mill basic wander through a house with odd noises, into a nightmare of unbelievable proportions. For me it was the technique that made this so effective. Taking the main story as one shot (2 shots I think but camera sweep masked the break at 3:15) made this so more gripping. Having the camera following the main girl, but only part of the time, gave it a much more menacing feel. Are we seeing things from the perspective of the hum origin? I don’t know! Whoever did the sound was amazing, The volume really helped carry the suspense, and things like lifting up rain noise to make it feel as if it really was raining worked very well. By the end we only know one girl’s name, somehow for me this made it extra horrifying. One thing though: I am assuming you took out the car’s head seats to work better with the camera and two girls in such a confined space, but it did break the flow of the tension a bit as it pulls the viewer out of the story you are building. I think you did an amazing job, I’m just in awe!
Depending on the year and type of car, no headrests could well have been the norm. This is set in the sixties, after all, so headsets might not have been as standardized as they are now (just a theorythought)
@@brentage5000 You can see the holes for the headrests, I think
You're so darn kind. Thank you.
I chatter my teeth when I'm scared or nervous too. Great acting.
Absolutely loved this tense little short, but even better was the tracking shot from 0:47 to 8:04! Seven minutes and twenty seconds straight! Well made and edited, my friend!
Thank you so much!
@@rodblackhurst Why didn't you ♥ it?
That wasnt a straight shot
THE PLACE GIVES THE CREEPY FEELING ALREADY NEVER MIND THE REST SCARRY ENOUGH OMG PERFECT JOB DONE ✅👍 LOVED THIS ONE OMG RESPECT TO ALL
One of the best short
Swoon. Thank you.
Amazing!! I can’t wait to see what else happens. Please don’t leave us waiting too long!! Bravo! 👏
Wow just wow!
how have I already seen this just days ago somewhere else
I'm from and live in Bristol...Nice one mate 👍
This was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The build up of tension from the start was so good!
Thank you so much!
Oh. Wow! 😳❤
Nicely done.
This camera work!
Nice 👌 Haven't seen some horror shit like this in a cool minute on here. Keep up the good work lol
Thank you so much!
Awesome af
I love this
Amo ver este canal
Such a horrible ending. From a film point of view it was epic but with how much things like this are happening it jus kinda hits close to home. Amazing actresses though. Those kids were amazing with the shivers n the fear n that up close of the eyes WOW. Amazing but terribly sad.
Opening build up was good but too draggy, then how come maddie suddenly appear at the hallway from the dead sleep. Overall this shorts was well execution!
Hey hey!! 😈🥳
I love scary movies. I've been in quite a few scary movies. But this was beyond scary. Brilliantly simple and absolutely terrifying. Bravo, you all have a great future.
love it
I liked. The kids were excellent.
At the end...what did the Borg Cube do there?
karen you're being hysteric again... calm down
This is hystoric🥶
@Rod Blackhurst What was that at 9:29?
For kids they knew better then most adults in horror movies
When I read "The Hum", I was intrigued. After that I was appalled. Violence in films has it's place, but not when it is gratuitous.
If you’re gonna make a 10 minute film, 4 of those minutes shouldn’t be just a girl walking down a hallway.
Wait a minute, what is that cube at the end. Are the Borg behind this?
That's where detective John Kimbell saved that mom and her son while pretending to be a kindergarten teacher!!
i just dont understand with this one..
And.....breathe.....swear I didn't take a breath
Mission accomplished!
🔥
I saw it on Screamfest few weeks ago. First time Screamfest beats Alter with timing eheheh.
Well, anything we can do to get our work seen is a good thing!
Wow you're so edgy and hip 😴
9:27 KEVIN !!!!!! 😃😂
I don't know why this video got a lot of hate. I don't see anything wrong w it. Its intentional for the listener to infer the end. So. No "Mistakes" Were made.
It's getting hate?? Everyone has different taste but some people think that their taste is objectively better than others.
Aww mannn
When the girls first stepped onto the deck outside what was that falling from the sky? It looked like bodies but idk.
Regardless of the omnipresent aspect, all I wanted to do was save those girls.
They probably got away..
I don't think so..
And can you the Borg cube? I mean...that's a licensing thing, isn't it? Won't you get in trouble with Paramount?
Don't even know what the Borg cube is. Not gonna lie.
Looks like the Borg are a little early to the party
AAA production!
Is it a Borg cube in the end?😅
I thought she was catching her parents mid bang for a second 🤭
👏
Sick snuff film and not a horror movie short!!!!!!
What’s up Broski 🦋.
🖤👍
😍😍
well that was harsh well done, poo kids tried to escape that was heat wrenching end for them
