WHO DID IT BETTER? 🤷♂️
The technical skill, and octave range of Dimash cannot be compared really.
...but knowing the lyrics of this particular song, the pain of it, I mean the song borders on wanting to commit suicide really.
Dimash sings in beautifully, there is no doubt about it...but Piet touches on the pain more, he really expresses the despair of this song.
...so for me, while I listen to Dimash all of the time, this particular song, I gave to Piet.
It isn't just about technical skill, or power, or range...and while Dimash's staccato in his version, gives me intense chills.
Overall, I feel this version truly expresses this particular song...with more of a pain, and intensity.
...they truly are both gifts to us, not to be compared, but relished.
@Peet Native man That is the truth, I am noting many do not realise how much manipulation does occur in a live stage performance.
...there are many ways to manipulate a voice, not just autotune.
I've done stage performances my whole life, they make you sound great. LOL
No competition, really. We know what Dimash is capable of, but we don't know what can Piet actually sing(at least I don't, and I'm struggling to find material). So I can't really compare them. Even if I did, Dimash's version is more complex and more emotional, more raw (for me).
@@estera4176 How could you be struggling?
...he's been posting material on his channel since he was a kid, going back to 2010.
Songs he sang in a corner of his own home.
...if you can't find videos on someone's own channel. o.O
@@Practicerecordings I only found a Mariah cover from 10 years ago. I must be blind. Do you have some links?
I am a good friend of Piet’s and he is a huge fan of Dimash. He doesn’t even compare his voice, he told me that he just loved the song and wanted to sing it. He has videos spanning a decade. Check him out, he has been executing his 6+ octave range for ten + years and wasn’t inspired by Dimash who was about 13 when Piet first posted to UA-cam. Piet actually credits Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston as his big inspirations. He has never trained, he learned to sing from Mariah (whom he calls his hero) and Whitney. I love Dimash and am thrilled to have him to enjoy but, both guys have distinctly different and unique voices. It might not be till next year, due to all live performances canceled due to the virus but you will be seeing him in concert and the release of a brand new CD of all original songs. I would hope that someday the two of them meet and perhaps sing together, could happen. I don’t think that it is important too or compared by Dimash, it’s not in his nature. I am pretty sure that if Dimash hears or has heard Piet, he would smile and compliment him. By the way, this is the only Dimash cover in Piet’s ten years of songs posted on his Chanel. Check out his cover of “No Time To Die” where he dedicates to Billie Eilish who sings the official release of the title song to the new James Bond film. Just keepin’ it real.
Thank you for the info, but Piet has a beautiful voice and presence
For me,definitely Piet's voice is much much better than Dimash's.His voice is more pleasant, with full of diversity and emotions. I could listen him non stop, but i can't say the same about Dimash.
How old is he?? I'm a huge fan (from Korea) 😍
How old is Piet compared to Dimash, age has a lot to do with male vocals since males voices do not fully mature until late 20s to early 30s, Dimash just turned 28 you can hear the lower registers filling in, I thought he was a tenor early on but sounds more baritone now, naturally I mean. Dimash as of 2022 range G0-D8 7.7 octaves, some say his D8 actually hit E8 but we could not hear it and Dimash admitted he can go higher but no point in it as he rather focus on beautiful music instead range.

Piet Arion 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Piet Arion sings tribute songs and his Morissette rendition of “ Akin Ka Na Lang” he nails both whistle notes. A masterpiece.
He’s very shy and we’ve had numerous discussions on Facebook. He-like Dimash-is very spiritual and humble.
Have you reacted to any other of Piet songs? A 6- octave vocal range and never had a singing lesson in his life. His native language is German ( English his second) so he had to memorize French and Tagalog languages before this and his amazing Morissette tribute performance.
All love.
Al
I love Piet's S.O.S and everything else that he sings. I feel his music so deeply! I don't like comparing the two because they are each unique individuals, both great in their own way. ❤
I believe that he has the ability to do everything Dimash does and I am an extreme fan of his
He's great, but no, he doesn't. He doesn't have classical technique, Dimash's strength and breath control, nor his versatility. I also doubt he can sing Eastern genres like Dimash.
Piet fan!!!!! Loved it!!!!
It’s pronounced Peet Air-E-On. I know Piet very well and I can attest to the fact that Piet actually hits every single note that you just heard. As far as Studio versus live, well, let me first make it clear, I am a huge Fan of Dimash and have been since his outstanding performances on a Chinese singing competition TV show called, ‘The Singer’. Having made that clear, Piet was singing like this, from the start which is apparent from the very first video that he uploaded to UA-cam when Dimash was about 12 years old. Piet does a cover. In that video of, “The Long and Winding Road” written by, Lennon/McCartney and released by the Beatles in the 60’s. You will experience from that song that Piet could easily sing in the basement and then travel straight into the stratosphere. He has mastered his whistle register from day one. He sings with total control, every note, every phrase, every story is sung with a flawless and seemingly effortless execution. He demonstrates by singing acappella. ‘What Kind of Fool Am I”, exactly as he sings it with full instrumentation. Both are available on his UA-cam Channel. Yes, it is the goal of every artist to record their songs and process the tones, pitches and so on so as to put out the finest recordings possible, they do it and I glad. Why would anyone argue that they should just do it flaws and all. No one.
Even Dimash singing live has his back covered by the amazing technical equipment and expert soundman who processes every note and every instrument to put out the finest tones, pitch control, reverb, and with Dimash, for example, lots of trailing echo. I’m glad about this because I/we get to enjoy these enhancements live just like in the studio.
I do hope that this was good info to ponder and maybe everyone will get over this useless and unqualified need to decide that such talent deserves the doubt that pops up by people who decide that until I see/hear it live, I have silly doubts. The whole idea is to enjoy the performance and respect the wonderful talent that artists of Piets talent should be accepted for who they are and what they gift us with. Dimash is not better than Piet and Piet is not better than Dimash. The are both brilliant in their own way with their own unique voice.
He posted on his fb that he's a Dimash's fan and this performance is a tribute to Dimash. Not intended to be a competition at all.
Piet Arion is like Mariah Carey with the high notes while Dimash is like whitney Houston with power!!
Perfection!! GORGEOUS!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!
When it comes to live dimash win,Im wondering if piet can perform this in live whithout getting strain
It’s Dimash for me. I don’t care for the poppy notes and whistle tone over the mastery of Dimash’s control and effortless, seamless transitions, and operatic styles and coloring. If these voices were food, Piet is a very amazing beautiful delicious decadent pastry that knocks your socks off while Dimash is a 5 Michelin star chef made 7 course meal that makes your toes curl and soul travel through dimensions. Dimash is an orchestra and his own choir. Piet is an amazing singer. I love Piet but Dimash is a demigod.
It all comes down to taste - I have to disagree with you: Piet's voice is much more dynamic than Dimash's who's all about belting. One song by Dimash is amazing - a whole album? No thanks.
Dimash has been trained in opera & is more a showman as well as an awesome singer. He also uses microphones inhancers. Piet Arion is more of an emotional straight from the heart type of singer. He has been severely bullied throughout his life &you can hear the emotional pain in all his singing. He hasn't had the training & the support of a musical family to back him up that Dimash has & yes he can sing those wistle note without a microphone. He is into writing his own songs .
I totally agree. I love Piet and he will always be number 1 in my book.
Microphone enhancers? There's are tons of no mic singing videos of Dimash. He's got plenty of 3 hours concert music as well.
While Piet is a studio singer, and for the most part. There so much processing in this song, his high notes don't evem sound human.
He's crearly very talented, but he's nowhere near Dimash skill-wise, let's not kid ourselves.
As for your own preferences, that's a totally different matter. We like what we like, and for various reasons.
Dimash is a phenomenal singer. But you are not hearing the enhancing and the amount of reverb and echo and effects that are used live ..? He definitely has a sound crew and there is some engineering even with his great voice . So don’t be so hard on Piet .
As a one of the vocal coaches said in reaction . A little massaging of the voice 9:01 is not a crime .
Piet has a sweet voice and his talent and range is great !
We don’t have to compare .
I absolutely love Piet Arion's songs. He sings with so much feeling that goes right through me. ❤
Without knowing their age difference it makes comparing very difficult as well which version of SOS of Dimashes, 2021 new wave with his voice more matured I thought he stepped it up on every level.
Piet reigns in whistle register. Visit his channel and watch his other covers.
For sure
Yea, thats like the only area that he out does Dimash. Everywhere else, Dimash is technically much better and has access to much more power and styles.
@@veto7767 I'm all over...sheesh, now who's the hypocrite. LOL
@@Practicerecordings If I said "being all over and commenting a lot is bad" then I would be a hypocrite. What I said is, it's hypocritical of you to comment and share in a lot of comments about why you like Piet more, but when people share and explain why they like Dimash more, you tell them that it's wrong for them to compare...
@@veto7767 I think I conversed with less than a handful of people on this video, so I think you are wrong...this video irked me, so I left it.
I only returned if people were addressing me.
...like you, for example. :P
Piet OMG I thought Dimash was the best singer in the world, he may be, but that was beautiful beautiful and a beautiful song written in 1979, first time I heard it was in late 2020 or maybe on the worlds best where Dimash performed it, but then I forgot it, but such a beautiful song 🤩
You can’t compare a live performance with a more controlled studio performance
Pretty sure that’s what I said 🤔 😂
HOOOO GOOODD THANKS
I saw a clip where he introduced himself, and he pronounced his name as " Pete "
Dimash sos in tokyo jazz festival 2020..
He just sitting to sing that song..😄😄😄
😆
I liked piet's voice ...its very good...but somehow iam not confessed by his whistle notes...on other hand dimash felt more real
Wow 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
My opinion is Dimash makes you feel apart of the song, so Dimash is definitely the best for me.
I respect it
Odd song to "feel a part of", it's virtually about wanting to commit suicide.
@@Practicerecordings Many people in this world have feelings of depression and suicidal thoughts - even if they would never act on them. Talking about suicide is also kind of hard for some people, so being able to relate and have their feelings validated by a song can be powerful.
@@veto7767 I suppose, except most people have no idea what it's about...unless they speak French.
@@veto7767 You realize that you wouldn't think I was "all over" this comment section...if you weren't as well, defending your main man. ;) LOL
...sigh, people.
dimash didn’t do whistle tones or that competition would be squashed really quickly 😂
It's squashed either way.
The first person who did this song died shortly after him singing it
both of the singers died one right after the other
Love your reactions! Would you please do other songs by Piet Arion? His no time to die... His version of Mariah Carey's O Holy Night and Morissette's Akin Da Na Lang... He and Morissette would have an incredible duet! Please react to these if you have time. Thank you so very much! Love you videos!

Dimash X Piet - > Piet Arion
Reacciona vitas cantante ruso el mejor a nivel mundial
It is pronounced Peet air e on
I’m late to the game, but where I love Dinash’s version of SOS, I don’t necessarily like all his other songs, I enjoy Piets high register and his other covers, esp. No Time To Die by Billie Eilish. nice review!❤️🤗
Dimash is performative. Piet is all about the Mariah notes... which on their own dont totally matter. Culturally - Dimash touches on true androgany... while Piet imitates the female voice.
Piet is a singer, Dimash is a genius. Any comparison is a pointless exercise, a no brainer really...
lol well said
Thanks for this. I enjoyed both performances. I think Piet has the advantage of being a native French speaker so his pronunciation is better. Dimash's version left out a small segment of the original song. For me, I feel that Dimash has a warmer tone which I like.
👌🏾 👌🏾
Piet is not French and doesn't speak French. He learned it for this song only. He's Austrian.
@@isivaasanaru5643 o cool good to know
@@isivaasanaru5643 oh, thanks. I didn't know.
There's also a version from 1992, Peter Kingsberry - Only the very best: ua-cam.com/video/kwmHx_C7itk/v-deo.html
Please do a reaction to this.
An important thing I’ve learned singing is just because you can hit the notes doesn’t mean you always should. Sure this guy may be able to hit the same notes as Dimash but he is no where close to Dimash’s pure vocal tone, control, and agility
So?
...it's not a pissing contest, it's two versions of a beautiful song.
Enjoy what you enjoy.
Practicerecordings bro the title of the video is asking who did it better. I’m stating my opinion 😂. Dimash is a lot better
@@Dmusky Trust me, I'm aware...it's why I didn't sub this dude.
Shit is causing all out wars on UA-cam, but this vocalist is being put down right and left, by Kudaibergen fans.
Why though, why is he having to be better than someone else...they don't even have the same singing style?
This kind of video is baiting people, but people are the ones making the conscious choice to deflate another human being.
...the guy likes the song, likes Dimash, so he made a cover too.
Just like Dimash did, they are all covers...and both are beautiful.
@@Practicerecordings All over the forum, you're agreeing and reacting positively to all the "I think Piet's version is better than Dimash's" posts, but as soon as someone posts "I think Dimash version is better Piet's" all of sudden you start criticizing them for sharing their opinion and comparing the two...you do see how that's a bit hypocritical, no?
@@veto7767 I don't care about opinion, if it's not negative...everyone likes what they like, as long as no one is being unkind about it.
I happen to like them both, so that isn't entirely true...I am just so tired of this comparison crap, one is a trained, professional vocalist. The other has no training, and some friends recorded him.
How could they be comparable anyway?
...but this "Who is better?" shit, is on my last nerve.
However, I just realized that this comment is under this video...initially, I had thought it was under the original video.
...because that one has been thumbed down 2.1 thousand times, and is just full of you suck, Dimash is better commentary.
I just don't want this guy to get discouraged, everyone deserves to try and live their dream. :/
Hmm...that guy Piet, rumor is, he cannot sing live. I wouldn't know because I don't listen to him. But this video, he still can't compare to Dimash. Piet sings with a pop voice and his transitions are not as smooth. Dimash is classically trained and sings it with an operatic flare. My ears are customed to Dimash's perfect pitch. Good effort on Piet's part cuz it's still better then what I can do. 😂
😂 😂
@@FortWorthFabian In his UA-cam Channel are some definitively raw live recorded songs, like Akin Ka Na Lang version 2, and one of Mariah Careys cover (not the Holy Night, which is studio recorded). Somebody commented that he is very shy and has lot of problem with singing before crowd.

I absolutely adore Dimash, I'm a vocalist myself...so I am most definitely awed by his technical skill and range.

Something about it was so ethereal, I had to research it more.
...after doing that, I looked for other renditions.
Coming across this version, and knowing the depth of the lyrics.
...this has become my favorite as well.
Not because it's technically superior to Dimash, it isn't...not because he has nearly the power of Dimash, he doesn't.
...but because he beautifully expresses the pain of the lyrics, and that in and of itself, is the most important part of performance to me.
You can be technically superior, but if you just "sing" something...something is lost.

@@FortWorthFabian Funny thing about that, live can be virtually as manipulated as studio...drawing out the voice, etc. can easily be done with advanced mics.
Large stage productions are VERY produced, this thought that some amateur singer's studio rendition...is all that more produced than a full stage production from a professional, is kind of nonsense.
...only people who haven't done both, would feel that way.
I have done both, trust me..they make you sound VERY good in a large stage performance. LOL
Better in your opinion. Objectively, there's no comparison between a heavily edited studio version and a live one.
And before someone starts saying that no singing is purely natural, go check some videos of Dimash singing without a mic, casually. Same voice.
Also, if by better version you refer to the way the song is arranged, I get it, once again, it's your preference. But the vocals, no comparison to be made.
He does not have the power in his voice that Dimash has and he needs to do it live before he can be compared to Dimash and im glad you noticed he was not live there is a big difference between live and studio just saying
of course
Personally I think it's petty for you to do this comparing. Have you not heard Dimash's doesn't bother with these childish antics of the media, please grow up. Dwell on the positive.
I rate u ZERO...
