Obviously, Dimash’s version is legendary and no one can top it. But let’s give some love to Piet. I don’t care that it’s a studio version because it sounded unbelievably beautiful, and to be honest, I highly doubt the B7 whistle was “faked” (I don’t like it when people instantly say that studio versions are inferior to live versions, that’s my opinion). I absolutely love this soft, lonely, dark interpretation of this song. I would prefer stronger belts, but the super light mixes are his stylistic choices. The reverb, the sliding note in his F#5 mix, and the almost whisper-like falsettos just add so much flavor to this cover and I’m loving it. And those low notes! I freaking love his lower register. Gives me goosebumps every time!

What should I say? A moderate talented “singer” and want-to-be-star with basic knowledge of vocalist technics tries with the help of high editing, autotune and massive post production to sail in the slipstream of Dimash. Fake is written in his face - or to say it in German “Setzen, sechs”
@@heinztimmer5453 moderate talent? No amount of autotune can make a mediocre singer sound like this. If it was somehow possible, you’d be able to hear the editing. There’s a bit of reverb, but not a ton of post-processed edits. All singers use at least a little bit of pitch correction or filters on their studio covers.
I love Piet! He's absolutely a great singer in his own right! And I am very happy that he is finally moving towards popularity. Please, stop constantly comparing everyone to Dimash. That's just not fair. Dimash is a class of his own. Period. I think Dimash has given him the final push to gather his courage and show the world his beautiful voice. I'm so glad that he has the power to inspire and encourage so many mindblowing talents that were hiding in the woodwork until now.
Piet Arion said that the female singer Mariah Carey is his idol.
I love both Dimash and Piet, but to compare them would be like comparing apples and oranges. Dimash is a showman with incredible talents and elaborate stage productions while Piet, since his videos 10 years ago when he was younger, even without the advantages that Dimash has been privy to, seems to have evolved and matured into even more of an artist with soul who has star quality and excellent stage presence. With SOS he appropriately comes across with sensitivity in interpretation and with stunning surprises with his technique, stamina and incredible range that seems to run so seamlessly and easily resulting in this remarkable performance - the ending was stunning.
Both singers are so unique and gifted in their own ways.
After seeing Piet's video of his version of Morissett's Akin Da Na Lang - would love to see Piet in a duet with Morissette... Now that would be magic.
Check out the video with his vocal range, thats very cool too. By the was, the highest note here was B 7.

The difference between Dimash & Piet is that Dimash was trained since he was a very young boy by his parents who were Oprah singers. Piet was basically self trained & a very soft & emotional singer.

Not fake. Piet has an amazing vocal range. He can't be compared with Dimash, who sings with closed throat, more like pop opera, while Piet sings with totally open, relaxed throat. Piet also has an amazing arranger, and S.O.S. is his most mature piece to date. Love both Dimash and Piet.

I just subscribed, I love your personality and how authentic your first reaction. You asked, “Is This the new Dimash”? Well no, there will always be but one Dimash. There will always be one Piet who has been posting and reaching into the whistle register for ten years, all available on his Chanel. They both have distinct and awesome vocal abilities. Dimash came on our radar but 30 months ago and I don’t think he was copying Piet who has songs from seven years earlier when Dimash was but 13. Piet thinks Dimash is amazing and doesn’t think he is comparable to Dimash, in fact, he doesn’t even realize how good he is. I know because he has told me this personally, we are good friends. Piet is very similar to Dimash in one way, he is a gentle kind person with a big heart and once asked me if I thought he should pull this cover from his Chanel because he said it seems to have made people upset and show dislike for him. I told him, he’ll no, he loves Dimash and sang the song because he fell in love with it and just wanted to sing it. That’s what singers do, love to sing. Check out his cover of Billie Elish’s song from the new 007 film, “No Time To Die”. Check out his cover of “the Long and Winding Road from 2011 where he executes a perfect pitch Fb2 up to ? 2011, Dimash was but 13 years old. Just sayin...

For folks to create a reference, folks should take the original performance from the rock opera Starmania and see what the original song was all about. Read the lyric translations and then appreciate that lots of men over the years have struggled to even attempt the original version let alone produce something artistically different and unmatched in their respective beauty. Dimash, Piet, both wonderful in their own right.

Actually, he's still on the piano scale. His highest note on any recorded piece is Eb7 so far. Dimash has a D8 and he IS past the keys on a piano (C8). The D8 is the highest male note ever recorded last time I looked. (Georgia Brown has the highest female note at G10 I believe. They both can be looked up and heard easily enough.

@@Guest.7289_2 Not BSing. That's just as far as my info went at the time. I've found more info since then. Georgia Brown's G10 was not accurate. It was only a Bb7 (had someone personally check it). Guinness world records has since repealed that record.
Found other males w/ higher voices since my post. Highest (non-certified) has a G10 though there has been some questions about the authenticity of that feat though those nay-sayers are also trolls, so I tend to believe the artist currently. I'm sure there will be more people found w/ even higher ranges, but this is the current stage of my information. Stop trolling about things you don't know enough about. Better to politely correct someone's facts. They will appreciate you much more and even thank you for the correction. Trolling is just argumentative and just rude. Some of the channels out there do not appreciate such behavior and sometimes ban offenders. Have a better day tomorrow.

I love Dimash. He’s got an operatic way in his style. Piet on the other hand is more pop music style. Dimash can hit the lower notes but from this video Piet seems to surpass Dimash on the high notes. They are both unnaturally talented vocal Gods!

I love this version best for me. Not taking anything away from Dimash who is just as good but I love Piets Interpretation better. Dimash is more Opera where as this guys Piet is more Theme song Pop worthy.. Both versions are good but I felt Piets version more.

Vera, it's impossible to fake whistle notes even with a very high quality equipment. To make it sounds much better, could be.

I'll put it simply. Dimash has had training since the age of 5, and does this as a career. Piet sings as a hobby and is entirely self-taught.

Higher doesn't necessarily mean better. I was interested by him at first, but I can't know for sure if he can actually sing this live. So any comparison with Mariah is useless. If you have links to more live singing or less auto-tuned, feel free to send them.

To me, Piet Arion is the only one who sings like Dimash...he's unbelievable!!! Why thinking he's a fake? He's been singing since he was very young and also live, he's not a "new" artist! He's not a fake but he's one of the best vocalist in the world!

He's nowhere near Dimash . We don't even know for sure if he could sing this live, and I'm not talking about reaching certain notes, but singing and performing an actual song. Apart from the fact that he doesn't have Dimash's range, he doesn't have his technique, his originally, his artistry. There's no comparison to be made, nevertheless, he's good, and I wish he sang live or less auto-tuned more.

Something to point out, Dimash's specialty is a very full head voice, which is beyond rare...and his staccato is otherworldly.
...this young man has a lovely breathy voice, which too can be rare, and has an unearthly whistle register.
They both are incredible singers.
...Dimash is phenomenal.
Piet is extraordinary.
...those who compare, and critique, are only doing themselves an injustice really.
Music is to evoke emotion, and both young men do that...in different ways.
I adore Dimash, and his version of this song is incredible...especially his staccato.
...but, I think the emotion in this version, when you know the meaning of the lyrics, is stronger.
The song is not suppose to just be beautiful, it's supposed to demonstrate the pain that the lyrics hold.

Nah, he's not half as versatile and complex as Dimash. He's good, but I wish he did more live singing, or to use less auto-tune at least. I was intrigued at first, but I'm not sure how much of this he can actually sing live, and that ruined it for me. Feel free to send me links to more live singing or at least less auto-tuned, and then I might have material to start a comparison between the two, at least vocally.
