Are you struggling to get a good overhead shooting for your painting or drawing time-lapse videos? Here is my extremely cheap setup! I bought this no-brand microphone boom arm that comes with a table clamp and a mobile phone holder. I bought it for under 8 euros on Amazon. Isn't it amazing? I just love how simple and cheap it is. What is your setup?

whats your solution for hitting your head on the phone while trying to paint during the filming?
I'm quite short so I don't have this problem haha. I think the easiest is to have your head a bit further away from the painting, or you can get a taller arm to hold your phone higher. I'm glad now that I am small.

I purchased a similar one from Amazon. The stem started to shake and then the thread on the clamp got deteriorated and started to slip. I had to add a wooden piece to make it thick enough so that the screw on the clamp continues to work.
for mines the ball that turns around (forgot what its called) became loose so its hard to work with bcz i think it was personally my fault..

Yes if the shelf is secured onto something. Sometimes the shelf slab can glide out, for example, those IKEA book shelves. You might want to test before putting your camera/phone to prevent damages.
If your table shake, if the phone camera and holder are stable?
Usually your phone’s digital stabilization can handle small camera movements. But if you shake a lot, it won’t be able to counter it.

Is the phone clamp hard to open? That's the problem I keep having
I have different phone clamps: one with a spring that closes on its own, one with a lever to clip manually, and another one with a screw in the back. But I felt the best is the lever because it shuts the tightest. But it’s hard to remove (as that was the idea, to keep it tight and secure).

The stand is quite weak, because it’s designed for lightweight mics or webcams. It’s not intended to take heavy weight like a proper camera. Just search online for a mic stand, you can find similar products. I think it works with any kinds of table, as long as it’s stable. If the table is wobbly, the shoots will be shaky too.

The shoe mount ?? Where did you get that from ? cause I copied your idea but the mike connection is to big for the manfrotto phone holder screw in..
Usually the mic screws are in 3 common sizes: 5/8, 3/8 and 1/4. The shoe mount is the one for mics and speedlites (flash). They also call the one without electric control “cold shoe” and the one with “hot shoe”.

I bought it online in Spanish Amazon site. You just search for mic boom arm on any shopping site, and arrange it from the lowest (cheapest). You will find a really cheap one!
