I'm gonna be honest I hate most of the characters on vampire diaries. Matt is annoying af but I somehow hate Elena more, and I also don't like Stephen. I don't know why I watched every episode of this show bc I literally hate almost all the characters. The only redeeming characters in this show were Bonnie, Enzo, and(don't come for me but) Klaus. Elena is the worst though, pls do why everyone hates Elena lol
Elena was so bland. she gave NOTHING. she was like a boiled chicken WITHOUT SEASONING. even in the book Elena was really bland and without a character, no because really, in the book she was like in the TV series but somehow bearable ? for Stephen I do not have a real opinion, but I do find him somewhat more likeable than Elena or Math
I know this is late, but I hate every character on this show, especially Alaric and Demon. Every character sucks Bonnie included, cause how are you going to get yourself killed for any of these fools like girl needs a back bone.
Not sure if you’re avoiding spoilers for these, but more specific moments in the plot could have fleshed this out (like you mentioning him shooting his fiancée). Also! Do you think you could do a combo of love/hate for the Chris video?😂I feel both

I used to not like him either but honestly I did feel like he was one of the only ones that woke up to the reality of Elena and the Salvatore’s and all the supernatural things in the town his opinion of it didn’t really ever change. He grew up with a mom who left him to take care of a sister who went missing and was discovered dumped like trash in a ditch think of all the anger and resentment you would have of the vampire responsible for that not only got away but continually threw it in your face I do remember him protecting other innocent people and I don’t remember him ever thinking he could really get away with it I mean think about it what did he really have left at the end of the day? I don’t think Julie Plec knew what to do with him either I didn’t enjoy how she rewrote Damon’s history either like seriously Liz and him best friends? Okay did him feeding and abusing her daughter come up and she was like “Yeah that’s cool it was a long time ago.” I mean a lot of characters histories and personalities fell to the ship that was Delena. Stefan went from brother trying to protect the town to Dean Winchester making deals left and right to save and redeem his brother (hated that trope) to Jeremy being okay with all the mental abuse Elena has put him through wiping his mind and having the person who literally kill him act as a co guardian??? This is the guy who chewed her out the first time she pulled a mind wipe on him and what he’s totally okay with it now?
matt could’ve died in the lake after the crash but no stupid ass elena just had to tell stefan save matt first instead of her… anyways can we all agree that elena is the most boring vampire ever

When I think of Matt as a stand-in for every human within Mystic Falls, his character makes sense. When you take that away, his character is pretty damn useless and boring af. I didn't mind him in the early season but I didn't understand why he was in the show for the entire ride, lol.
I also wondered if the show set up Matt to be a hidden villain in TVD.... because starting out from the moment we learn about his character he is literally mad at Elena for breaking up with him because she was mourning her parent's death. He was mad at Elena for mourning her parents... letting that sink in you start to think that the human factor needed Stefan at the end *spoiler* needed to become human because Matt was the evil-doer.

The us vs them belief is what got the council killed and almost got him killed a number of times. Would have been better to have Enzo alive and Matt dead
The problem with Matt is the fact that he is overused. J.P. doesn't know when she has to kill people off. If Matt dies when Elena turn to be a vampire it would be fine. That was his time to go. After that he was useless and boring and just take screentime away from important characters and storylines.
Great video! Not to overwhelm you, but I'm lowkey thinking of doing a Teen Wolf rewatch and your mention of Scott...I was just like, I would LOVE to hear her take on elements of that show. I honestly love it, flaws and all. When it comes to Matt though, I didn't mind him, he was sort of like vanilla ice cream, but as Tove Lo says, nobody minds it...but in comparison to other flavors it just doesn't hold up. Your work is fantastic, I've been marathoning them at work while doing paperwork, haha. I also just wanna say you're doing fantastic!

Honestly on GG you have so many characters to pick from. It was wild rewatching Luke kick out Jess for not wanting to go to school (which seemed like a hostile environment) without ever really asking why or what Jess wanted/needed. And don’t even get me started on Zack’s casual misogyny/homophobia and how much better Lane deserved. Even a WEH Lorelai, the way she and Sookie treated Michel was p gross, and she tends to use plausible deniability a lot. Omg and a why everyone loves Miss Patty would also be delish. Ngl you have great takes so I’d listen to you discuss anyone lol
