The shot at the end where the people are applauding Simbi is so powerful. It speaks to the strange relationship musicians have with their listeners and fans. In the video, Simbi is pouring her soul out. The hurt, the pain, the complexity, all that is being reflected in the mirror back to her. And the audience is just there applauding. Artists share their hurt and their ugly and we applaud their honesty. They make us feel understood and not alone. But we can't do anything to help their pain. At that level of success, fans become almost like a void the artist is crying out into. We just clap while they are still sitting with their emotions, their heaviness. It's an interesting dynamic that many of us will never fully understand. All we can do is show love and let the artist know we hear them.

Very well said. What we as fans/listeners can do is to truly connect with these emotions inside of US. The only thing real artists want is for their art to heal the world. If their art is coming from a place of compassion and truth then it will resonate and heal us, but only if we surrender to it fully. Just like any emotion. In order to move through it and heal we need to open to it and let it move through our energetic system fully. Which is not comfortable especially in the bubblewrapped world we currently live in. But fully feeling feelings is the only way for us to heal. This is what artists who are of truth really want for the world, whether they know it or not.

I think it might be down to Little Simz's monotone delivery, which lacks intonation. (If you compare her style to Kendrick Lamar, or Rapsody on the track Power, the difference is clear.)
I think if Simz thinks of her voice as an instrument - maybe consider acting lessons to bring out her range - her overall package will be on par with K. Dot.

@@johannsimonot No, as perspicaciouscritic said, it is most likely due to her monotone delivery. I had that exact same thought myself, as she's been played quite a bit on Norwegian radio lately. Why isn't she using her voice? She sounds unenthusiastic and bland at times. That doesn't work for everyone. Compare that to ... nearly every single other rapper. Rapping is not just about talking. Again, as perspicaciouscritic said, your voice is an instrument as well. She's not using it to the fullest, not even remotely. And no matter how much you like her style with that, that simply does not fly for many. That said, she gets more than enough listens and views on her music and videos.

My 2 sisters are currently pregnant, expecting girls and I’m so grateful that my nieces will grow up with iconic and inspirational artists like Simz as role models. What an amazing woman, listening to the messages in her music makes me temporarily forget that impending doom feeling of the state of the world and fills me with hope and relief.
As of late, I've been paying more attention to what you say rather than the music that plays behind your words. It is all truly inspiring what you speak through these verses and they carve places in my heart that I hope never fade away.
This album and Kendrick's just blew my brain, what an amazing year for hip-hop 2022 has been, glad to love this genre.

Little Simz genuinely changed my approach to music I was stunned by the introvert music video which was my introduction to her as well as SIMBI as a body of work it became the benchmark I aspire to both sonically and visual it is an album I constantly revisit and study and now to drop these gems. What is this???? The album is crazy, amazing, mega, you name it but this takes the whole game to another level I feel like. Thought there never will be a valid reason to say but this as a piece of art for me personally is on-par with Mr. Morale. Put JID in the mix and you easily have just named my top3 of 2022 (in no particular order).

Sometimes being at the crossroad isn't always easy and even the people that we run with don't always innerstand because the shimmer blinds their foresight or unable see with clarity through the veils of fear to perpetuate false narratives but we have to follow what the Divine has provided us for us to do. It goes beyond the promises made by people who have been abused and are mentally unstable because everybody follows along with their instability in agreement. It is a trap. This was cold shudders running down my back since the first seconds, and i usually dont cry because of music or movies, yet i do cant forget this incredibly intense and ecstatically deeply emotional, private, infuriating and sad experience that i just went through. The feeling still lingers 10 min after and the hairs on my arms are still electrified. I want to put on my headphones again, yet it scares me to play it again, it feels like i am entering a visual and musical "room" that is so highly personal and just simply beautiful that i feel "wrong" being there as my mind cannot fully understand it, as it is not "mine". This is not just art that has a heart and a soul, this is more and i find myself unable to describe what i am feeling. I have never in my life been touched by a work of art that deeply and i want to express how it is simply perfect and i can not think of anything comparable rn. Thank you

It’s hard for me to argue against Simz being the best musical artist in the world right now, last 4 years nobody as brought out 3 albums as good as Grey Area, SIMBI, and No Thank You, forget getting mainstream young artists, just push yourself to make great music like this woman has and you will have a way longer career as a result, she’s getting on that podium with Kendrick and Ye in my mind now because of this great music and with Nas also still making great music it’s a great time to be a fan of rap music
