  • Shared Parameters are very useful and even necessary when trying to push information to different Projects, Families or Tags in Revit.
    This Revit Tip will explain how Shared Parameters work, how to create then and how to use them. Enjoy.

    OMG Mike I believe you worked with Target.I believe you have explained me some wall details with insultaion.The unique way of your explanation made me to think you are teasing me in that time.i remember you have mentioned cavity inside the wall to explain the insulation inside wall.i was like how come cavity related to wall?you thought i did not understnad what is the meaning of cavity.this happened i believe in 2009 OR 2010 in Target India corporation in Bangalore.I still remeber you.Your unique way of explanation anyone can understand thoroughly.

    THIS was amazing! I been struggling to figure out why the sheet numbering wasnt working when we updated the title block but I didnt realize that shared parameter from the family was not loaded into the project itself. I can't find the source txt file so I just made one from scratch and it works.
    Is there any way to use a formula or parameter so the TOTAL sheet number will automatically tally and calculate the number of sheets in the filters sheet schedule?

    • @rafaelmejia5988
      @rafaelmejia5988 9 місяців тому +2

      Use a sheet schedule with sheet count, then hide everything on the schedule and show the count total. Put that schedule (that shows only the total sheets) in place of that "shared parameter" called "total # of sheets" that he is referring to. When you add or delete a sheet that number updates automatically

    Thanks for the Tip! Just wondering if you can use a filter or a calculated value with the shared parameter to calculate and auto populate the quantity of sheets so you don't have to fill in that column.. I'm so lazy! ha.

    • @miketaylor8211
      @miketaylor8211  2 роки тому +1

      Perhaps in the next version of Revit!!

    Would it be easier to set the total number of sheets to a type parameter so they all update as opposed to an instance?

    If you make the total number a type parameter, I imagine you only get to change it at one place.

      correct! I guess I should have done that... or just put text on the Titleblock and remember to edit it when you print.
